love pagano but didn't he say he wanted to saty with the ravens for a year or two i am sick of these coordinators mattison one year coach pagano one year coach rex was the only coach who stuck it out for more than a year or two but i am not worried as long as ray is there the next DC will be fine but i would want a more agressive offensive coordinator i am super excited about the offseason dont get me wrong super bummed about not playing in super bowl but now its all in ozzies hands

Mattison leaving is the best thing that happened to our defense since 2000

Marvin Lewis is still looking for his first playoff win after how many seasons with the Bengals?

Mike Nolan's best season record was 7-9 and he finished 18-37 in three seasons, and has since been to Denver, Miami and Atlanta.

Rex Ryan, 'nough said. The Jets are nose-diving as an organization. I'm taking wagers on whoever thinks he's going to come out and run his mouth next pre-season about going to the Super Bowl.

Greg Mattison is the only one that anything good can be said about. He won the Sugar Bowl! But, he did go back to a college team.

Chuck Pagano... good luck, I really mean it.

But when will these other NFL organizations learn that it isn't so much the coordinators coordinating as it is the Ravens' defensive players coaching up the next man inline?

I applaud Pagano, you give me a head-coaching job for a team that couldn't possibly be any worse off... Even if he has a 6-10 season next year, there'll be all kinds of excuses the organization will use to protect him. And they can do that for about three-years. But if things haven't improved after three-years -- Pagano could be looking for another job.

Feel free to neg me now. But it is the complete truth, the coordinators are not the reason for this defenses success. It's the players coaching each other. Heck, Tim Tebow could coordinate our defense and we wouldn't skip a beat.

I'm sick of people saying "as long as ray is there our DC will be fine." How did we fair with Mattison here? I hope Andrew Luck chokes.

These players will more than likely be Colts next season: Ben Grubbs, JJ, Jameel McClain, Brandon Mckinney, Haruki Nakamura, Corey Redding, Zbikowsiki, Ellerbe, Webb, Cary Williams, Chris Carr, Foxworth. He will take Pees or Brooks to be the D Coordinator for the Colts even though he might be calling the plays.

This makes ABSOLUTELY no sense. why would we jettison our entire defense and a pro bowl guard?
Foxworth and JJ maybe...the rest of them are going no where.
If we lose Grubbs, it wont be to the Colts, O line is the only decent part of that team, thy got guys to protect Manning.

Do we just train coaches to leave and go to other teams? I'm curious how many coaches have left the Ravens over the last ten years for head coaching jobs. I know the obvious Marvin Lewis, Rex Ryan, and now Chuck Pagano.

I would of rather have Chuck than Cam...I don't hate Cam though. Good "Luck" in Indy Chuck :/ . I do agree with Mr. Waldorf though, we should try to get Jack Del Rio. Defensive coordinators must be salivating at the opportunity to coach our defense.

wow, the wound hasn't been heal yet and this.... Ray and Ed please come back. Cam, we better be better on the offense next year, not saying that our defense won't be good anymore.

Anyone think it's time to move back to a 4-3 defense? Here's the rationale:

First, we draft Vontaze Burfict, and make him heir apparent for Ray Lewis. He's from ASU so he can learn from Sizzle and Ray and play on special teams.

Then you put Cody and Ngata in the middle like we did with Adams and Goose. Redding and JJ start on the ends with McPhee, A Jones, McClellan and McKinney as backups. The linebackers would be Sizzle, Ray and McClain with Kruger, E Jones, Kindle, Bynes and Burfict as backups.

we cant keep anyone can we- i sure hope that our defense will remain dominant over the next decade i hope who ever we get in was as agressive as pagano - and it appears to me that the colts want to be like the ravens - i just hope that this was not a mistake - i understand business but comeon - why cant we keep anyone - rex ryan , marvin lewis , etc all used to be with us and now pagano is gone - thats just great - what a week that we have had - just cannot get any better

Not to sound pessimistic, but this is a huge blow for the Ravens. Pagano was well-liked and, for some players (i.e: Terrell Suggs) loved. His great personality and likability leave a huge gaping hole that Baltimore has to fill, and at the moment, the only likely replacement for Pagano will be LB's coach Dean Pees. He's changed the attitude of the LB's and he did a great job in his first year for Baltimore. Unfortunately, this coaching move will mean that Jerry Rosburg and Cam Cameron (ugh) will likely stay in Baltimore. However, if Cam goes, I would sign Jim Zorn as our offensive coordinator. He had a great relationship with Flacco and I think he can call some semi-decent plays.

Pags had success because we do have the talent that allows him to be aggressive and not worry too much about getting beat. The reason we have talent is because we have a very strong Front Office..Colts just fired pretty much everyone in theirs. Pagano.. We were on the brink of a Super Bowl, and you chose the team thats falling apart everywhere. Good luck.

sometimes life really sticks it in and breaks it off.

Whew you said it SAMI

Man this is a blow. I knew it was coming but; I thought we had a few days to recover from Sunday. Geeze!!!

Well good luck Chuck, I'm glad your getting some recognition and some reward for a job well done.

Before you get to fired up on your new job you should have a chat with some of us old timers; about your new "Boss". You picked just about the worst place possible. Anyway good luck.

We'll be fine they come and they go and we just keep on being good, well until Ray and Ed leave then -- I don't want to think about it.

This seriously stings. I feel half happy for Pagano, and half betrayed for leaving so soon (especially to Indy). The logical next guy up is Roy Anderson. He's been the D assistant the past two years. It's unlikely we go out of house to get a DC, we never seem to do that.

Wish List:
Hue Jackson- OC
Jack DelRio- DC
Somehow resign Flacco, Rice, Webb, and Grubbs, and if any cap is left JJ too.
Pretty please?
