MERGED: Pagano New Coach Of Colts

151 posts in this topic

Shows how amazing our organization is. We've been around since '96, and we've had Rex Ryan, Marvin Lewis, Jack Del Rio, Mike SIngletary, Mike Smith, Mike Nolan, and now Chuck Pagano come through here already to be head coaches. Amazing

I laughed at the possibility mid year when the "could we lose Pag to a head coaching gig" thread came out....well obviously I was wrong about that...

Shocked..a tad bit upset...but F it...let's start from the ground up next year as far as coordinators are concerned..

We have to go veteran guy like Del Rio...the trend in the NFL is to get the young coordinators with no prior HC experience from good teams..its the coaches who have had their shot that aren't getting chances again to be HC...so let's hire a good defensive coach that probably won't get another shot for the foreseeable future at HC...

Not a good 4 days in Ravens Nation

Well, this sucks. I'm sure the front office will find a good replacement, but with the season ending the way it and the Senior Bowl in progress, it's just terrible timing.

Ive always liked Pepper Johnson the DL coach for the Patriots
Glad you remember Pepper Johnson. He was the guy who was the incumbent starter ahead of Ray Lewis for the Ravens' inaugural season until Johnson was cut prior to the start of the season.

Johnson was also the guy who told Ray Lewis, as a rookie, that he needed to be the leader of the team from Day One. Clearly, Ray took his advice and ran with it.

As long as we have Ray Lewis we will survive to see another day. I wish Chuck the best but I would have done the same if I had to deal with a Cam operated offense knowing my defense did the damn thing.

However I'm not upset with Pags...he got a golden opportunity to coach a good franchise...worst case scenario is he gets one of the best QBs or all time or one of the most highly rated rookie prospects ever...

He'll mainly have to focus on getting defenders to come in there...and their defense was so bad no matter who he brings in should be an upgrade...

He's kinda in a win win I guess...

It'd be hard, since all our talent is 3-4 only and they run a 4-3.

He may convert them tho too.

Haha, I don't wish him luck at all. I hope he goes 0-16 every year, just like every other team in the NFL besides the Ravens.

Ray Lewis said it best in his interview before the AFC Championship game when they asked him what he thought when people said he was finished. Paraphrasing: 'Look at the Ravens. Head coaches and coordinators come and go, and I'm still here. I'm the most consistent thing this franchise has ever had.' Yup.

I'd wish Pagano luck, but I can't. I hate the Colts and will never wish for them to do well. That makes me mad, because I'd like to. Just like I'd love to wish Marvin Lewis luck ... one of my favorite coaches on the planet, but being in Cincy, I can't. I hope they at least give him help. I don't understand that organization. How do you make a guy with 1 year DC experience your Head Coach at a time when you are pretty much going to gut and rebuild your franchise almost from the ground up (including Front Office).

That sounds like the perfect formula for crashing and burning as an inexperienced HC. Oh well ...... and Cam is still here. The universe really has a sick sense of humor sometimes.

Pagano is going to fall flat on his face. The Colts organization is going to implode. Why he wants any part of that is beyond me. I have nothing against him but if you are going to jump ship at least do it for a good situation.

Now I know why Ray is staying. They must have known and begged him to come back. My first guess was Brooks but maybe Peas. Whoever it is, I hope they're aggressive.

I don't know who is stupider Pagano for leaving the Ravens after only 1 year or the Colts for hiring him after only 1 year. One thing is for sure Pagano is going to be the next Josh Mcdaniels.. I wonder if we will take him back?

I can't believe he took the job. The volts have shown just how shady of an organization they are. Questionable GM, owner that tweets and a Defense that isn't going to be anything close to an NFL defense. No idea who your franchise QB is. I figured being part of a very good organization he would have steered away

yes! jk! we had a great defense this year. i just hope we can find someone who we can keep as DC longer than a year or two.
:) I hear you, hopefully we will. I think its ridiculous to hire a guy as your head coach, who has only been a coordinator for 1 year, especially on a perennial top 10 defense like the Ravens, but as they say das da breaks!

Why? Because its one of the most prestigious jobs in the entire sport. There are only 32 of them, and only a few open up each year. He will have his own professional football team to run, make more money, and get the #1 overall pick in the draft to work with. The only way you can blame the guy is with fan bias. I certainly hate it, and to the Colts no less! However, very few people would ever turn down a head coaching job.

Wait guys..... I know it's been reported everywhere but nothing is official until Rob Lowe tweets it.

On a more serious note, I have no idea why but he seems to be another Rex Ryan on the way. I think we know what I mean by that, all talk and no action. I don't know why, but I feel like Chuck is going to run his mouth more about what he says the Colts will do than what the Colts actually do on the field.

Also the Colts have always been a 4-3 team, does this mean they are going to change to the 3-4?

What the hell man. Why can't we just keep a good DC for more than a few years.

Seriously, one year and you're gone? Thats crap.

I've been sighing sadly ever since I heard this. Why do Defensive Coordinators hate us so much? And now they're saying Cam will probably be back. Can't wait for more draw plays on 3rd and short.

Who's saying that?

According to these articles Cam's status is still uncertain.

Wasn't Pees the Pats DC when they were really bad on d? I may be wrong about that, but it seems to me that was the case. That's why he got fired and came here? I would rather see Clarence Brooks get the job. He has been here forever and out d line is great year after year. I just don't know how much play calling experience he has. I just don't want to see us go back to a vanilla d.
