1. Work with Ray about reducing his role, or trade him.

, but when a team like the Patriots goes empty backfield, blitz him or get him out of there.

How does that work now?
They set up empty back field and then Ray sprints like a mad man for the side line and then his replacement ( ???? ) sprints out there and then they some how get into formation before they can get the snap off ?

If he was that fast we would not be having this conversation.

definitly keep pollard dude made big plays all season and was part of a great secondary in my opinion teams wont be able to move the ball on us if we get an olb opposite of suggs to rush the passer

hmm....that person sounds very smart. And must be extremely handsome... lol

Yeah really though, I dont even want to think about anything other than this OL. It is the one thingthat has held us back more than anything on this team -- even more so than Cam.
[/quote]

Smart, probably. Good looking? I'll let Cam decide.

I can't disagree with you. The o-line has, amongst some other things, held Joe back. I hope it's is addressed just as much as everyone else. But, I do hope we get rid of Michale. I like the idea of trading him, whether it be for a draft pick or another player.

I just do not know how we are going to keep all of our FA's. On top of Rice, Grubbs and Flacco, we are going to have to re sign Webb and he is going to demanda big contract. Remember that in the new CBA that the first and third round tenders are gone for restricted free agents.

There will be a bunch of teams that will be interested in trading their first round picks for a proven CB that is young and on the rise. So that comes out to 4 players needing huge contracts and a big hit in cap space. There is no way we can keep all four of them unless a miracle happens.

Now that might be going a wee bit too far. I remember a certain offensive genius named Norv Turner (who we might have had if Philip Rivers didn't go to the owner's office and throw a temper tantrum until they agreed to bring Norv back) who was working with an offensive line that was missing like 3-4 starters, against us, and designed schemes that rendered Suggs and our best pass rushers completely ineffective. Weakness can be schemed around by smart people - unfortunately Cam is not one of them.

I wouldnt worry too much about Webb. He was nothing short of awesome this year -- but one good year isn't nearly enough to demand a huge contract. I expect to get him for around $4M - $5M per year

The more I learn of Webb and his ability at the college level I'm not surprised he's breaking out, he's 1 year removed from that surgery and I think he's only going to get better. There's no way to pay EVERY player, those things are tough...unless the players move more towards winning championships like in the NBA a little bit or the players are still going after that $$$

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that 99% of this board, including myself, said "who the eff is that?" when we announced Webb at the draft.
Leave it to our FO to find guys like this...that's one reason why I keep preaching the draft in the Oher thread. It sure as heck isn't unreasonable to think that we can find a quality lineman or two in the draft if we can move Oher.

yeah, there are always those hidden gems, or the little known guys for whatever reason, thats why giving up picks even later round picks, u never know who u just lost...then u got all those unrestricted free agents if they dont make the draft

the front office can do it, this is what they work for all year
