Turnovers

Is anyone else disappointed worse defenses are getting much more turnovers than us? And no I don't necessarily mean against us as an opponent. For being the #1 ranked defense our turnover ratio isn't very good...

We played against Peyton Manning, who is a future HoF QB. Peyton knows exactly what to do if the pressure is on him.

On the side note we did have a beat up secondary this game, which didn't help either.

I have said it in another topic on this forum and I'll say it again..I think we are being just a little over aggressive on the D sidfe of the ball. I love this Defense just as much as anyone and love how aggressive they are but it seems like we are trying to force the issue a little bit. I feel that if we just go back to playing tough, physical football without the 70 blitzes a game we will frustrate the opposition enough that they will get impatient and start to force the ball some, leading to turnovers. Now I realize that we are a good blitzing team and need a lot of it to be effective but sometimes we just need to back off and let them bring it on. We have played great D up until this game and I am confident that we will see that D again here soon but I hope they have learned their lesson from this game and who knows maybe Peyton and Dungy just have our number right now.

If you turn the ball over, you lose. Period. The Redskins are a great example of this... the first 5 weeks they did not turn the ball over ONCE and were 4-1, then this past week they commit a flurry of them and get upset by a sorry Rams team who made fewer mistakes and capitalized on the ones the Redskins made.

We've got a rookie QB, a young offensive line, and inexperience at all but 1 or two positions on offense. Turnovers are going to happen. As the season goes on they should become less of a factor but with a offense as young as ours that cant field the same 11 games for 2 weeks in a row, they are going to be an issue. The reason the issue is magnified is because we turn it over in our own territory. We need our special teams unit to do a better job, with field position. Fix that and the defense can be more aggressive and create more turnovers. And the offense feels the pressure less and hopefully gives up less turnovers.

hopefully the special teams can put the ball where we want it and if they do it the defense can force turnovers
