Pass Rush A Slight Disappointment.....

22 posts in this topic

Yesterday, I just had the feeling that Suggs or Ngata would show up and make a huge impact..... Some of the great plays that Wilfork made like throwing Birk like child to stuff Ray Rice on the shotgun draw play, it had me thinking wow Ngata hasn't made that play yet for us.......

I'm not sure how many pressures or knockdowns we got on Brady this week, or how many we had last week versus Yates, but to be honest it feels like the Pass Rush Disappeared after the San Diego game...... Some of it is due to great offensive play designs such as rolling the pocket, or putting a player in motion to disrupt a blitz ( Hernandez did a few plays where he went in motion and released between the center and guard to run a quick out route ) overall guys weren't winning the battle in trenches............

I had hoped Kruger opened the Flood Gates with his sack, but that Hurry Up offense and quick strikes kept them off balance.....

When you limit Brady to ZERO TDs and pick him off twice, that's a victory any day of the week. Pass rush be damned. Damn proud of my defense.

Wilfork was absolute beast yesterday. That was about the most dominant Defensive Tackle performance I have ever seen. That said, yea our pass rush was almost non existent. However we were going to 3 man rushes alot, and even with the time Brady had, our D played pretty damn good. It also says something for Joe, who had no where near the time Brady had, no where near the accolades Brady has, and no where near the offensive system the Patriots had, and he still out played Brady on Brady's home turf.

We have some young guys who can still develop but we NEED another pass rusher opposite Suggs

for sure, u need to put pressure on their QB and protect your own

The Pats did well with adjustments to limit our pass rush as the game progressed. In the early portion of the game the pass rush was working. But then the Pats utilized the run which made our guys have to lax on the full pass rush mode. Pats also shifted to a quick pass offense (rarely taking shots past the first down marker.

All in all they were disappointing. But give the Pats credit for making adjustments on offense. That's why Bill is a great coach.

It was easy to blame Ray and Ed the last month of the season but Suggs/Ngata weren't themselves the last quarter of the season and playoffs.

I bet Ngata was hurt and Suggs may need someone on the the other side (Kruger/McPhee) to relieve some pressure on him.

I almost guarantee we're going to stick with Kindle just like we stuck with Kruger just like we'll stick with oher.

I usually defer to Ozzies expertise.

It will be a combination of both. Coming out of Texas Kindle was the highest rated 34 OLB in the draft that year and supposed to be a top 15 pick before the knee issues came out. I just hate to see talent and production be that wasted on a trip down the staircase.

As for Ngata, I'll be completely shocked if nothing comes out about an injury to him in the next couple of days. Past week 10 he just didn't make any plays.

I like Kruger and McPhee also, and for most of the season it seemed like every game in limited snaps McPhee was generating pressure ( not necessarily getting a sack or knockdown ) but he was around the corner forcing a quick throw, then it seemed like he slowed up some towards end of season..........
I think both of them can develop some more moves in the off-season and be even better next season....

I also think next year Kindle will see significant time playing, this year more to get his feet wet make sure the head injury was gone while he learns the nuiances of the NFL Game ( he spent an entire year out of football )

Ngata played hurt most of the year, i thought that was pretty well known. He'll be back to his old self next year, McPhee i like, Kruger also. Don't give up on Sergio yet...i have a feeling he'll get it together this off season and training camp.

I think another year and real offseason for McPhee could be huge, he could really come on like Cody did

I too was disappointed by our lack of pass rush yesterday. I know our defense limited Brady to 0 TD's but he also had an off day and it wasn't because of too much pressure. If only we could have had the same pressure on Brady as their pretty poor defense had on us the outcome wouldn't have been so close and surely in our favor.

Wish upon a fish as that didn't happen.

100 million dollars worth of contracts.... Ngata and Suggs, neither were a factor... That pisses me off. Ngata has been a chump since Thanksgiving ....

its just what happens when only 1 person is really elite at pass rushing, if the other team takes him out then u struggle to get pressure

right now its suggs and then theres everyone else for the ravens

A lot of those were compiled in games against bad teams in bunches... No consistent pass rush, that's the problem.
