His rookie year you could see the passion and fire in him.

Then in his second year. I went to Ravens TC. I saw Oher and I remarked to the people I was with that "He just doesn't seem into the sport". He looked lackadaisical, uninterested. Everybody else was stretching and he was just standing around with his big diamond earrings.

Ever since I saw him that day, I knew something was amiss and haven't felt good about him ever since. But this is just one mans perception. Maybe he was having a bad day. But his play since when I saw him like that hasn't proved my feeling wrong.

Well, I didnt want to bring it up since this is pure speculation on my part, but....

perhaps the thing that made him famous was his undoing? You know, growing up homeless, now a multimillionaire. Tasting the good life has brought down better men...

That's the feeling that I get. Like he feels like he's arrived and that's that. You get paid and you start missing that drive that got you to where you're at.

He has like more sacks against and more pressures allowed than any two of these other tackles combined. Yep, sadly it may be time to at least start about cutting bait with Oher. Maybe a new o-line coach will help, but if he doesn't drastically improve next season I see no reason in keeping him around.

Sadly, that's a solid observation. Here's hoping to see a different Oher come next season, or else he could be playing elsewhere come this time next year. Here are Bryant McKinney's numbers, by the way, while we're on the subject. He allowed 7 sacks, 9 QB hits and 29 pressures, with 7 penalties.

4 less sacks, a lot less pressures. McKinney played well considering he was out of shape and didn't have full training camp. And being the blindside protector wasn't McKinney usually facing teams' best pass rushers?

Honestly i feel we keep him next season, however if his false starts and letting speed rushers get around him to easily doesn't stop then we cut him. Give him a good off-season to get fired up and get back into shape. False starts are killing our drives and Michael oher is a big reason as to why. Oher is a very good run blocker but he need to improve himself this off season or else its bye-bye.

Anybody else worried about McKinney in the off season?

You mean that he might get out of shape again? Ray should be like "IF you get out of shape, you will be chased by angry men."

Well, we know that, but its not the same when everything is handed to you. I dont want to get too far into this though, because I dont want to slander the man based on speculation.

Oher has severely regressed since his rookie year. Im thinking maybe his confidence was shot when they moved him back to RT and he took it as a demotion for bad play. Who cares honestly these are grown men who get paid to do there jobs and oher isnt living up to his first round status. He plays like a slow old tackle and shows no discipline when it matters.

I'm making my bold prediction: Ravens trade Michael Oher & their 6th round pick for an early-mid 2nd round pick. Michael Oher goes to St. Louis so Fisher can get his head right, and Michael Oher is now close to his family. Everybody lives happily ever after.

Unfortunately I was being serious. We already have enough to worry about with Oher, Birk, and Grubbs, if we have wonder if McKinney can even play for us next season, IDK what to do.

i would be elated if that happened. Keep our first, and have two 2nd round picks, one of which is only 6 - 7 slots behind our 1st?? Hot damn. We could grab a LT, Oher's replacement and either a WR, safety or center with those picks. All that before we even hit the 3rd round!

oher is worth atleast a 1st round pick. ITs only his 3rd year and you dont devalue something like that.
[/quote]

First round picks lose value the second you use them.

They're like cars. The second you drive them off the lot they depreciate ridiculously but, if you chose wisely, then they'll rise dramatically in value over the years due to their obvious quality.

one of the worst RT in the league is worth at least a 1st round pick? We'd be lucky to get a 3rd for him.

And if he is worth a 1st, then giving him up makes absolutely no sense. Why would you give up an 'okay' tackle to get someone who MIGHT be worse? Sometimes you need to appreciate what you have.

well, I was saying that kinda tongue in cheek -- no one would be crazy enough to give us a first for him.
I definitely can appreciate what we have -- thus all my arguments with people who bash Flacco / Ray / Ed.

But to me, cutting bait with Oher now before he loses even more value makes complete sense. After three years in the league, we have a pretty good idea of what we have in Oher.

I would assume that he did. McKinney will be fine as long as he works on facing speed rushers in the Offseason.

From what I saw from Jah Reid, he looked good. I liked how he played in the game when Oher went out. I thought he did a decent job. I don't remember any sacks when he played. If someone wants to correct me then go ahead. All or most of the sacks came from the middle where Wilfork blew up Birk.

I honestly like Oher as a person. I think (hope) he is a good sport and isn't in it for the money. With that said, I would like to get value for him while we can, because I'm not so sure he is the answer to our offensive line. I don't think he fits here, honestly. Maybe if we were one-dimensional, then okay. The problem is we're not one-dimensional and I don't want us to be. I believe Jah Reid can replace him as RT, and unless he goes back to LT (doubtful), I think we should trade him now while we can get the highest value. I don't want another Gaither. Imagine if we traded Gaither when we should have traded him. We would've gotten a 1st or 2nd for him. At least a 3rd. This is how I feel about Oher.

I was really pissed at Cundiff and Evans, but not Oher. We need depth at OL. Keep him and don't worry about the yellow flags. He's young and will get better with time.

I just gotta laugh at this topic because I was the one saying Gaither was the better tackle all along. People said Oher should be taking over his spot on the left side... I guess they got caught up in the movie/media nonsense.

Gaither punked the Ravens the entire game against the Chargers. I know he had health issues(but I still think he was just another victim of "Harbaugh's Doghouse" where if he doesn't like a player he's just no going to ever like that player), but he's still a beast. I'd do anything I could to get that guy back on the offensive line.

And is Andre Gurode the answer at center for the next couple years? Or do we need a new replacement for Birk?
