What do we do about this guy? He is horrible in pass protection. Just terrible. And he doesn't do enough in the run to make up for it.

Time to move on from him? I vote yes.

He'll be here though next season

I don't want to give a knee-jerk reaction, but he has declined ever since his rookie season.

Today he was beaten like a drum by nobodys and, to be totally honest, watching him struggle so badly was depressing.

He needs to actually play to the whistle. He looks lazy and defeated too much. No mean streak at all.

He's under contract, but his low salary and young age make him very tradeable. Let's cut our losses ... if we can get a 3rd for him, we need to pull the trigger

I thought he settled in pretty well during the second half of the season, but if you're looking to dump him and replace him with a solution, the team seems very high on Jah Reid.

This is a joke right. Oher starts out as one of the best RT's in the league. Then switches to the blindside and does avg at best. Then switches back on a shortened off season with a limited playbook. I guarantee you, he'll pick it up next season watch. Give them an off season to work him and youll see wonders.

And our options are?

Draft a replacement. Sign a FA.

If you want to get rid of Oher you're crazy. I completely agree that he's not very good, he draws way too many flags, and is questionable in pass protection. That being said, without Oher our line could be in another state of complete overhaul. There is no way we could replace Oher, Birk, and possibly Grubbs in one off-season, especially when I think McKinney is a bigger concern on the left side. Oher will play out his contract and it won't be renewed. He won't be gone until after next season though.

PS - dont even get me started on the flags he collects
I voted yes, was gonna provide my reason, but you beat me to it.

Jeez, did you see his reaction time to when he tried to draw the patriots LB offside? And instead got called for it? Where's Sandra Bullock when you need her?

It sucks, cause i actually liked when we picked him a few years ago. Not only for his story, but the guys pretty big. Seems like he could be a could tackle, just has too many penalties from him that seem to come at the worst time.

Dont get me wrong, i think he stays in 2012. but after this season coming up, if he doesnt improve, cut our losses and move on.

Is Jah Reid a huge drop off from Oher? I am not even saying Reid is the answer, but Oher has not been anything special, sorry!

Idk about a 3rd. Who would be a better option though? I know he has been regressing but I say give him one more year. And so does sandra bullock.

Yeah He definately has not lived up to the hype or potential.

As fas as flags mid season he REALLY steped it up. Meaning got very few if any for quite a few games. That said, If cutting him makes it more affordable to keep Grubbs than I am all for it.

2007 draft
That was when we got lucky on a flyer in the supplemental draft, right? The chances of that happening again are very low.

Reid was unquestionably worse than Oher when he was thrown in the game. Maybe he'll get a lot better during the off-season, but I don't think it's worth betting on that when Oher is average as a tackle entering a contract year, when players generally step it up anyway.

I'm more worried about the rest of our O line. We need DEPTH behind every position, but especially LT and C. Focus on that before we focus on Oher, he'll be back and starting next season unless something ridiculous happens.

7-10 OL are drafted ahead of us and our cap situation isn't great.

I say if we get a different OC, have him stick at a position and not move. Let's see what happens against competition in training cam however.

We need starters before we worry about depth! (exclamation is for emphasis, not yelling)

Seriously, this line has been decent against lesser competition, but against good and great defenses -- ouch!

I really don't think so. Probably has more of a mean streak in him, which is what you need out of that position. Oher is just plain soft. He routinely gets beat and watches Joe get taken down by the same defender. And he isn't the mauler he was as a rookie. Maybe the Blind Side is getting to his head but at least make it a competition
