Finally Boldin Was Used Correctly!

26 posts in this topic

It took until the final 2 drives but finally Anquan Boldin was moved to the slot, put in motion from time to time, allowed to do different routes other than the usual curl or out route, and he killed that defense in the 4th qtr because he could no longer be held and pinned to the sidelines.
The only other game I can remember him being that hot was the Cardinal game.

I only wished Pitta had played more because he catches everything thrown his way!!!

And here is the problem with Cam Cameron. Glimmers of brilliant decision-making lost in a quagmire of okay play-calling and head-scratching decisions.

If there's one thing I can say about Q, it's that he's a clutch WR. Notice how he almost always seems to have multiple catches on crucial game-ending drives.

Q has been put in the slot and run routes other than curls and outs before. My beef has always been how Cam deployed him in the red-zone.

He's slowed down but he's still a beast with the ball in his hands. I'm interested to see if he'll be unquestionably the team's #1 next season.

Yeah he has been used before but as effectively and efficiently as in the final 2 drives. He was used like Welker in the last drives. Basically telling the defense I'm here try and stop me... It's harder to jam me from the slot so I'm going to beat u down....

Kurt Warner has been on NFL-Network calling Boldin to be used in the slot more since the Seattle game...

I think without a doubt we still need to look for a clear-cut number one. Boldin had a good game today but it's been quite a few times this season that our WRs struggled to get separation including him against man-to-man. He's still a threat to where he has to be accounted for to a degree but not to the point where he scares teams like number ones typically do.

Just my opinion.

boldin is a stud, and that is why i would like to see pitta out there more often because boldin will get all the attention and pitta has great hands

That's why I said it would be interesting. A true #1 WR would be great and a few could hit the market. But with all the decisions the front office will have to make regarding players already on the roster, I don't know if they'll have the cap room to bring in a top WR. Plus, even though neither of them look like they'll become go-to WRs, we haven't got an extended look at Doss and LaQuan.

Here's to hoping Floyd falls to where we'll pick.

There has to be some reason we RARELY saw Doss.

We'll see. I doubt he falls that far.

Special teams. He wasn't going to play more snaps than Q, Torrey or Evans. And with the TEs being involved and Cam usually running two-WR sets, Doss had to contribute on special teams. LaQuan was a special teams captain at Maryland, so Doss had a lot stacked against him.

While this is a True a Statement by you, the offense in general always deserves an incomplete due to lack of creativity by Cam Cameron... It's so rare that he puts players in position to create a mismatch to maxmize their success..... The patriots realized early this season they had no true deep threat, they realized Welker has really killed teams from the slot in the middle of the field and been unstoppable for 4 years, so why not exploit the middle with these athletic TEs then this opens up the outside routes with single coverage.....
It's rare that Cam will use Boldin, Pitta, Dickson in creative way such as putting them into motion to read the defense then run a slant or drag route to create separation....

Ravens WRs generally don't create separation because a majority of routes are Double out routes, Double Curls or streaks down field.... Almost every time Flacco eats a sack and they show the replay guys are running 7 yd outs or comebacks and Corners are sitting on it because we run the same plays that we ran with Clayton and Mason.....

I've been on Cam all year, but to me he actually called a good game and actually *gasp* seemed to make some adjustments for the better after the first 3 possessions. In those first 3, it was obvious our o-line was gonna have a repeat of the Texans game, they were getting beat by 3 man rushes for God's sake. So Cam decide to rollout Flacco quite a bit after that and put Boldin in the slot more often, it worked well. We definitely didn't lose this game because of Cam so there no way I'm gonna rip into him now. Besides, he's on his way out so no worries anyway...

If they had used Boldin like that all game and put Pitta in instead of butterfingers Dickson, things may have been different.

If M.Floyd or A.Jeffrey drops to bottom of 1st it would really be a dream come true.... I still believe in Jeffrey because they had unstable QB play...... But I would like for a Good O-lineman like J.Martin to fall or a ILB Burfict or Hightower because there is no way Luke Kuechly makes it to us without a trade...

I really only see a few I would want - VJax, Bowe, Colston, and Stevie Johnson. I really think Flacco would benefit from having a bigger guy, and Johnson is the shortest of the 4 at 6'2". You think any of them would come at a reasonable price?

Don't know if I trust Jeffrey. If we went receiver in the draft I'd rather have Mohammed Sanu. I trust his worth ethic better, and the only thing Jeffrey may have over him is a few inches.

He did finally make some in game adjustments, and although the offense was still extremely slow getting out of the huddle usually with 12 seconds left on play clock ( not nearly enough to recognize the defense or make any O-line adjustments pointing out blitzers etc ) it rarely led to wasting timeouts like most of our games.... Although on that 4th and 6 he ran up to Harbaugh and got him to call a timeout I wondered to myself what did he see, and did he make a change because we lined up the same again.. lol

For me it doesn't matter we could have won the superbowl and I still wanted Cam fired.... lol

I hope Boldin can make it another year or two and stay healthy, he's so physical guys like him break down quicker

The Ravens still need another offensive playmaker

or who knows, maybe just a new OC will be all the difference
