some of you are confused, im talking about our first FG we went for, we had a 4th and inches clser to one yard form their 2/3 yard line and we kicked a FG

I would have gone for it,,but NOT with Rice. He's too small and sucks on crucial downs where as little as inches are needed.

one complaint i have about Rice is he just falls over once or twice a game and he did it again, it never fails...he runs off balance a lot

i know hindsight is great and all, but try and think back to what your gut told your right at the time..

4th and 1, on about their 3/4 yard line, did you want the points, or where you thinkin go for it?

To me, at the time i thought it was the right call, then, when the pats went for it it and brady scored, i thought, that killer instinct wins you a game..

I didnt think it would come down to three points (ie get a TD there and we win) but i still didnt want to risk getting stopped and hand over momentum.

what you all think?

After we were stopped twice last week, I had no problem w/ the FG.

Had to kick that. They were getting far too much penetration. We have the worst short yardage blocking I've ever seen, and I'm astounded that Cam can't overcome that by devising some off-tackle type of run. You KNOW they're going to flood the box; with a back like Rice or even Ricky Williams, you can bounce that outside for eight inches.

Heart wanted the Ravens to say, 'Screw it!,' and go for it, but my mind said, 'Uh yea..with the way the line is playing we'd BETTER take the points,'.

I wanted the ravens to go for it early too honestly, set the tone quick by punching them in the mouth. Why we dont do QB sneaks just escapes me everytime. Joe is big and tall like brady so give it a shot. Plus on the lee evans TD drop why didnt rice go in motion on the right with evans the middle of the field was wide open. at the end for atleast a first down if not maybe a TD.

I thought the whole reason they went for a field goal there is to get the field goal unit warmed up and get at least 1 kick out of the way. That way later in the game when they had a longer try, would have been about a 48 yarder(which NFL kickers are expected to make)... the team would actually try and get the 3 points.

Now of course, the Ravens punted, and of course they end up missing a much easier kick later... so my theory looks bad. But that's why Ravens lose close games. They can't even kick field goals over 40 yards, which other teams do regularly.

yeah, we do the difficult quite well, third down conversions, stop elite QBs, shutting down elite RBs, and balls up the easy parts of a game, catching a ball, time management (ie not having your kicker running on with 15 secs left) missing fieldgoals, not protecting the ball, missing tackles.. thats what cost us the game

I was very nervous going into the game, but I was confident too.
I knew Ray Lewis would have them all pumped up as much as possible and I just knew Flacco was gonna rebound.

Sorry, but I was a Cleveland Browns fan who came over to the Ravens when they moved out of town. I'm not from Cleveland so it wasn't a territorial thing for me. I just liked the Browns and refused to root for the team of my area, the NY Giants. the worst most arrogant obnoxious fans in the universe. They are like the Yankee fans now. They think they are entitled to win it every year.
The Ravens have the Browns lineage so I came along. I thought the 2000 Super Bowl was the end of any curses or bad luck. And...it was against the Giants! I still get the chills when I watch that.
Then, like a bad Steven King movie, the evil came back.

When we didn't get the TD call on Evan's catch, I thought to myself "Oh no...not again"! I just didn't feel secure after that and when the field goal unit came on looking like a Chinese fire drill I could not watch the kick..my friend had to tell what happened.

I really thought it was gonna be all up to Flacco to get us to Indy...and Joe played his heart out and shut everybody up. way to go Joe, you are a big time QB. I just had the dream in my head that Ray Lewis would surprise everyone and have Flacco lead the Ravens through a haze of smoke and fireworks out the tunnel on Super Bowl Sunday....an honor Flacco deserved.
I can't concentrate on anything I'm so heart broken. Maybe next year...

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME.

On 4th down and and a half yard at the Pats 3 - we kicked a FG.

Harbaugh lost this game for the Ravens. We have a 6'6 QB - and he can't lean forward to get a half yard?

When we kicked a FG - I Said" We will lose the game - due to the typical Harbaugh conservatism".

Even though the 49ers kick a lot of FG's - JIM Harbaugh would have gone for it. JOHN - always goes for the wimpy decision.

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME - and with JOHN Harbaugh - we never will.
[/quote]

i dont know why 5 people neg'd you bc your 100% right and we should of ran the ball on 3rd and 1 at the end of the game the patriots defense was finished there was no way they would of stopped ricky he would of ran it in for a td and if he didnt we could of took 3 shots at the endzone
