Merged: Perspective Of The Season-The Future Is Bright

So yes this season is a "failure" since we didn't win the Super Bowl, but think about it this is probably the best team in the league, we played a very good game with the exception of 2 plays, our Defense has been rejuvenated for years to come, and we got over the Pittsburgh hump, so Im proud of our guys this year, and look forward to next year GO Ravens

I know, this hurts. It hurts now, it's gonna hurt a week from now, and it's gonna hurt while watching the Superbowl. Amidst all of the disappointment, there are MANY positives from this game.

Joe Flacco: I was shocked by how well he performed, even out dueling Brady. One caught pass by Evans and he would be a Superbowl QB. This game gives him a whole lot of confidence going into next season. He carried the offense without Ray Rice.

Torrey Smith: His touchdown was tremendous, and not a single dropped pass in the biggest game of his life.

Anquan Boldin: He and Flacco looked in sync tonight and hopefully that carries over into next season.

Dennis Pitta: He looks to be the next Todd Heap, he is one of the few receivers and am sure won't drop the ball.

Vonta Leach: Apart from a drop, Leach was a monster blocker.

Lardarius Webb: Could he be the heir to Ed Reed? The way he is playing now it sure looks like it.

Jimmy Smith: He played well tonight along with a crazy pick. Imagine a Webb and Smith combo a few years from now, no one will be able to pass on us.

Paul Kruger: Early on, he was owning Matt Solder. Lets see if he can carry that momentum into next season.

As you can see, many of these young players performed exceptionally under the pressure and though it may hurt now, I can feel that these players are hungry and will keep us in contention for a Superbowl for a long time to come.

You forgot, Pollard made an INT (but Webb screwed it up), he took Gronkowski out and he tapped the ball out of the end zone.

This loss sucked. But dwelling on it does no good. So lets look forward.

Joe Flacco IS our Quarterback. He will lead us to multiple Superbowls. He has a lot of years ahead of him. Dennis Pitta, Ed Dixon, Ray Rice, Torrey Smith. All young, all here for a long time. Cam Cameron is leaving, and our offense should get a jumpstart with a competent Offensive Coordinator. Our secondary is young and talented. Ray Ray and Reed said they are staying. Suggs and Ngata have 5 years left atleast. Harbaugh is an excellent coach. Ozzie will continue to draft the right players.

Our competition is diminishing. The Bengals are still the Bungles, the Steelers are aging (Flacco is over the Steeler hump), and the Browns are the Browns. We will dominate this division for a LOOOOONG time.

Lets get excited guys. We are going to compete for years to come. This loss sucks, but we are built for the long haul.

Purple and black forever.

Yeah I love Pollard. The Cheatriot killer. My positives are Flacco, Torrey Smith (Doss who?) and Dennis Pitta. Everybody was so wrong about Pitta being a blocking TE this year. Dickson better put on some weight because he's a butterfingers.

I can't wait to see what this year's rookies will do next year with a FULL offseason.

Also, I can't wait to see Cam GONE.

Edit:

Torrey on Twitter: "This offseason I'm gonna grind so hard... I'm gonna give the NFL hell... watch the improvement"

Get em Torrey!

Agreed on everything except for the Bengals being the Bungles. They have given us problems in recent years, and are only getting better.

It just hurts that the last few years we always blow it somehow..Every year we had the talent to do it, we just couldnt

I agree with everything you said above and would add these as well...Ricky Williams had a hell of a game today, Haloti had a good pass deflection, Cook and L. Williams did well too! I love the hit Benard Pollard got on the Gronk too!!!

This team can only improve next year and I am looking forward to a solid run next season!!!

If I'm not mistaken, we got more yards than they did. I'd like to think thats impressive. Obviously the game is won on the scoreboard, but to out-yardage the Patriots is a feat.

I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but I thought Jah Reid did pretty well too in a pressure game for no more time than he has had playing.

I'd say the talent has been there the past two years. The passing game was nowhere near good enough in '08 or '09.

I agree the future is bright. But the loss is barely an hour old and I'm still in the here and now. This team should be in the Super Bowl.

I'd sum up my positives as: We beat the Patriots. We were better than them. Flacco ripped their D to shreds, completely outperforming Brady.

We had it stolen by Riveron and his crew. We didn't lose that game. Cundiff didn't lose that game. The officials STOLE it.

Ladarius Webb...surely headed to the pro-bowl next year! Snagged an INT but more importantly showed a lot of savvy back there as a DB. Joe Flacco acquitted himself in this game as far as I'm concerned. We will be back Ravens...let us hope we can talk Mr. Lewis and Mr. Reed into joining us!

The Bengals are going to be very very young next year. They could beat us once, but I feel very confident that this Division is ours for the next couple years.

I agree, so many guys that were not starters last year played the best ball out of anyone today, except for our Quarterback. I'm disappointed, but am already looking forward to next season. Next year these guys will have had a full season under their belt and we can definitely grow.

only two positives came out of this --
our young players got crucial playoff experience and I saved $800 on a Ravens theme SB party.

I can't believe your shocked that Flacco played that well, heck, his WRers still dropped passes. He makes the WR look good more than his WRers make him look good. Flacco has been playing like that all yr, the problem is the O line can't even block 3 pass rushers for more than .5 seconds (i kid you not).

Im very excited to see what Flacco starts doing next yr with a new O.C, just imagine, play formations other than the i formation , 1 wr on each side, and this is a throwing play mind you.

THANKS CUNDIFF AND CAM for another Great game. Cundiff you remind me of Houscha who now plays for the seattle seahawks and is actually making FG , oh and they are about 20 more yards deeper than the one you missed today. Im sorry, i took up for you a few times this yr. Guess what, im done, i clean my hands with you. You better be fired.

I agree and thanks for the post! This will sting for a while, but this will be the spur in the shoe that drives us forward for next season! This Baltimore Ravens glass is half full not half empty! We have got alot to look forward to with this team, alot more to come with this talent for the Ravens!

Im not blaming the REFS for this but there were quite a few Flags that should have been thrown that werent in the RAVENS favor. Now that would have been fine, IF the REFS were letting them play but they weren't , they were giving the PATS passes on alot of plays, even in S.T , on Holding calls that were so blatant. CUNDIFF AND CAM lost us this game, Switch Cam middle name to CAM i Formation Cameron.

Gifted the Patriots 3 points on a Webb PI call during which Welker ran IN TO him, the result of the play was a pick. That's not a pentalty on any level, unless you want to call offensive PI.

Didn't even bother looking over a Lee Evans score which was 50/50. If that didn't count then they had to call PI on Sterling Moore when he mugged and rode Dennis Pitta around the 2 yard line. So, I can say, in a game that was called anywhere near what it should have been, we win either 23-20 or 27-20.

Riveron is either biased or completely incompetent. Either way, I put it SQUARELY on him, which is why I never want to see him officiate another game.
