Yeah the offense still get people in the seats and win you regular season games, but I still believe in the playoffs defense wins championships. That's why in the NFC the final two teams are defensive teams and the two explosive offenses (Packers and Saints) didn't even make it to the conference finals. There really weren't any explosive offenses in the AFC during the regular season except for the Patriots and you saw what a decent defense did to their offense stats. Our defense got us the ball back with less than two minutes left and gave us a chance and their defense prevented us from getting into the endzone and I don't want to talk about the kicking game because anytime you put the game in the kickers hand you are in trouble. In this game I can think of more defensive plays and offense.

The Giants don't have a great Defense. THey have a great Dline. Thier back half isn't so good. I would have loved to have seen them in the Super Bowl against us. I think Joe carves them up. The 9ers have a great Defense though. The bad part is if the 9ers win this game, I have a hard time seeing a rookie head coach winning the Super Bowl. I just think he will make a bad decision or something. But again, I think defense is disrespected so much. I wanted the Ravens to truly prove that defense still wins championships, Joe just had to get us there and he did everything to do that, just didn't happen.

And your assessment make a good point...a good dline makes everybody else behind them look good. How many years did we get a way with a sub par secondary when Ed Reed was in his prime? The Giants defense has the ingredients to win in playoffs. But of course if we were to play them I would love to see Ray Lewis smash the "Tip Toe Burglar" better knows as Brandon Jacobs while we harass Manning.

Oh yeah, but the Giants have no Reed either. On defense they are a one trick pony. So I don't see them as representing a team built on defense. They are built on Eli Manning. Best believe that if they get to the SB that is the story. Eli vs. Tom II. They might give the Giants D a little ink but if it is the 9ers it is again classic great Offense vs. great Defense.
In a year where two QBs take down the great Dan Marino's yardage record and I think no less than 3 QBs throw for over 40 TDs, I want a defense to come in and take respect.
You know that is why the Ravens have often been overlooked in the last 10 years. To the league and public at large we play an undesirable brand of football. It's said the only reason we fans like it is because it's our team. Well I have always liked defense. I liked the 85 Bears style (not my fave team) and I like the Giants of the late 80's and LT's style (not my fave team). But it seems that I am one of the very few or something. I like offense but I like defense too. I like the game. I played it and went as far as I could and I watch. But I could talk this and what the NFL and the media (ESPN and the like) has done and is doing to the game all day.

Awesome NFC Championship by the way.

Trust me I've been a Ravens fan since day one, but I will take a great defense over a great offense any day. The defense plays well in warm weather, cold weather, dome, rain, snow, home or way. Offense can be affected by the elements or if they are at home in a dome or not...so I still believe a good defense is a necessity...it was a mistake that we outplayed the Patriots today, our defense had a lot to do with the way they played.

You clearly have forgotten (or chosen to ignore) that Mason was a free agent this past off season and HE CHOSE to go elsewhere...

He was a free agent Ravens should have done everything to keep him huge mistake and the Ravens paid for it today. I will take Mason over Evans any day of the week.

Only if......Lee Evans would of held on to the pass from Flacco, or if Cundiff would've made that field goal. Good game squad, just interesting how one person not fulfilling their respective role can prevent the best team in the NFL from going to Indy.

After reading most everyones' posts on here, I am not so angry any longer and believe the Ravens played a great game overall. That being said, hoping they come back next year and do this again, only GO ALL the way in 2013!!! Got to get this!!!

its more than likely that if Ray doesn't retire like he said that next year would probably be his last season so everybody needs to step up and get one last SB for Ray
