Merged: Praise for Flacco's Performance

180 posts in this topic

Listen, i don't care what the final score says, or what any so-called experts say. Joe Flacco played great today. He outplayed the greatest QB in the NFL today.

Flacco carried this team on his back and was the reason why they were even that close. Win or lose, Flacco proved that he can be an Elite Qb, and deserves a nice long contract.

Just wait until next year, and Flacco will be alot better. Give him a full season and a full off season to work and develope with his WR core. Boldin showed he can be a great #1 go to guy. Smith showed great potential, and will go to the next level next year. Pitta needs to be our full time #1 TE. And during the Off season, we have to upgrade our o-line. Oh yeah, and get a OC that will take the leash off Flacco. I think he showed he can play with the best of them.

Our Super Bowl window did not close. It is still wide open, because this Offense is young and will step it up next year. We need some young players to step up next year for Lewis and Reed, and somebody to compliment Suggs as a dominant pass rush guy.

Special Teams has to improve. Our cover teams were poor this year, and Cundiff is just too inconsistant.

I agree. We may have lost but Flacco proved to himself, his teammates and the national media that he can get it done

I've been saying Joe has the talent for years. He has never had the pieces around him, ever. Not all of them. When his line is good, he has drop happy receivers like Clayton. He still has drop-happy receivers. But this guy shredded Dick LeBeau's defense, shredded them, and then did what only 5 other quarterbacks in league history did in Pittsburgh (300+ yards 0 ints) to beat the Steelers. He played his best when the stakes were highest, truly elevated his game. He is inconsistent, that is his biggest flaw, and that is all about coaching.

Could you imagine how good this team would be if Flacco played every single game like that? Dump Cam Cameron, and we're looking at something special

Flacco had a great day.
Sadly capped with a L.
Just something else for the media and the haters to dance and sing about.

Then there is the rest of us who are proud of him, and are proud to call him a RAVEN.

NFL didn't want us to win and it showed.

Quit crying. You sound like a Pittsburgh fan! It was a close call, but one that I think was correct. If Evans had covered the ball and fell down LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE, this isn't even an issue.

I see the Ravens picking up Hue Jackson as OC, who Flacco really likes. He'll have another good off season and continue to make strides as a QB.

Flacco played amazing and with intensity. The whole team played great but Evans, Dickson along with Cundiff were horrible and I hope I never see them in a Ravens uniform again. They don't play like a Raven.

Some people see what they want to see. I was listening to Colin Cowherd last week after Reed made his comments about Flacco, and Cowherd (who's always been very lukewarm toward Flacco) was gloating about how Reed validated his opinions by coming out and saying what he said. I was like whatever with his commentary, until he started the Matt Ryan vs Flacco debate. Basically, Cowherd "pointed out" how Flacco was immediately surrounded by superstar talent, while Ryan went to a team and helped rebuild it. I almost puked in my mouth. Of course, the superstar talent that Flacco has is almost all on the defense, which probably HURTS Flacco as much as it helps him (since you almost instantly get relegated to "don't make a mistake" game manager status). Meanwhile, Ryan gets surrounded with an elite wide out like Roddy White, a freak of nature in Julio Jones, a HOF TE in Gonzalez, and a stud RB in Turner. So yeah, people see what they want to see, and a lot of times, it isn't the facts.

Last year Boldin dropped an easy touchdown catch that probably would've won us the game, then Houshmandzadeh dropped an easy first down catch that would've kept us in the game against Pittsburgh. This year Lee Evans dropped an easy touchdown catch that would've almost certainly won us the game. Hell, Torrey Smith dropped a game winning TD against Pitt in week 9 but fortunately had an opportunity to redeem himself because of another perfect pass from Flacco. Joe has proven time and again that he is the real deal. It's time for the critics to just Please be quiet..

I don't think Hue comes back to Baltimore, but I'd be excited if he did. His track record speaks for itself, and I think he'd be the offense's version of Pagano or Rex Ryan: total player's coaches.

Joe kicked some serious [profanity deleted] today, and even though the game did not go in his favor, he still deserves a picture with the caption "HATERS GONNA HATE!"

Yes, it was truly heartbreaking at the end, but wow, he kept us in the game until those final 18 seconds. So very well done Joe.

Flacco out played Brady!!!! Flacco 22-36 306yds 2tds 1 int
Brady 22-36, 239yds 0tds ( 1 rush ) 2 INTs.

Flacco should have a 3rd td.

I don't even have a prOblem with the int because Dickson wouldn't have caught it regardless and Brady threw it right back.
And let's not forget that Flacco had no support from the running game AGAIN tonight. Less than 3.3 yards per carry between Rice & Williams. Flacco himself put up 6.75 yards per carry on his rushing attempts! It's just pathetic how little support Flacco gets from his team. He has to deal with porous o-line play, terrible running backs, and receivers dropping 5+ passes a game during both games this postseason, and he still posts 95+ rating in both games and frankly he wins this game if not for a dropped pass, bad officiating, and/or a missed chipshot fieldgoal.

I'm so proud of you Joe! To everyone who was defending Ed Reed this week, where was he today?
He made a bunch of nice tackles/knocked the ball out of the receivers' hands a couple times.

He may not have gotten an INT, but he did show up.

and to think just a week ago there was talk that we would get rid of him! i have been very pleased with his play and am excited to see what he can do under a real oc, where the plays arent always run run pass on third and long. he also has a great attitude. i honestly dont think he cares about the criticism, he just wants to play football. love ya joe!

Yeah, but he has a good defense.

I'm sorry; I couldn't resist.

Despite all of those facts, I think we all know who the talking heads are going to blame. And next year, should the Ravens continue their post-season appearance streak, everyone is going to debate about whether Flacco can finally elevate his game enough to take his team to the big game.

Yep. His pass deflection gave the offense their last possession.

The thing I saw from Flacco tonight that I really liked is when the receivers weren't open, he tucked it and ran. I haven't seen this from him since his rookie year. People forget that Flacco can truck it when he gets going, and so many have tried to pigeonhole him as a pure pocket passer for some unknown reason.

Agreed. Rice and Suggs could have showed much better IMO.

Finally, it was great to see Joe roll out some and not be such a predictable target in the pocket.

If we're going to be disappointed in anybody in the postseason it has to be Ray Rice or Terrell Suggs. Flacco played as well as any quarterback in the playoffs this year. Rice and Suggs were not even average. That said, they are both GREAT players and I hope they play their entire careers in Baltimore.
