RIP Joe Paterno.

Honestly, I was browsing YouTube last night and suddenly felt the need to watch highlight videos of LaVar Arrington when he was at Penn State. I ended up checking out highlights of Courtney Brown, Tamba Hali, Curtis Enis, Ki-Jana Carter and Bobby Engram before finally watching the five featuring LaVar.

It's amazing when you step back and think of all the great college players he coached.

I said pretty much everything I had to say in the thread last night that turned into a freakin debate. To me, he didn't die today, he died the day he wasn't coaching anymore.

RIP Jo Pa. You gave all of us great football to watch for many years, but more importantly you were an icon, a role model, and a leader for young men, and that means more than any football game ever could.

Angers me that so many people are bashing Paterno even more now that he's passed. A lot of people see his role in the scandal and refuse to look at anything else. They either refuse to see or don't want to see all the good he did for Penn State...the university...the young men he coached. Makes me mad enough to grind teeth.

Farewell, Joe. Thank you. I would like to think that you're already in Heaven's Coaches Corner with guys like Bear Bryant, Eddie Robinson, and George Halas. Nittany Lions Nation will miss you terribly.

I know, right? Just let the family mourn. I also live in the York area and this a.m. WDAC FM 94.5 had a respectful death announcement. Nothing about the recent problems. Just that he was a game-winner, had 2 championships and over 250 players go to the NFL. That's how he should be remembered. He was a GIANT in his impact on American collegiate life.

The tickets to Joe Pa's memorial sold out...in FIVE minutes.

I know i'm kinda late with what i have to say. But this man is Penn State. I live in the York area as well, i have friends that are really hurting from his death. I've told many, many people, his whole career shouldn't be based just off of what he did for the football program. He did SO much for the university as a whole. Donated so much money, and if im not mistaken, was the reason they have a good library. He was the main reason many people wanted to go to Penn State in the first place, myself included. RIP Joe Paterno.
