Dink And Dunk Attack?

28 posts in this topic

Reading this article on BR.com got me thinking, what if the Ravens came out and attacked the Patsies with a dink and dunk short passing game? It would frustrate their newly aggressive defense, help us dominate TOP and throw them off since I'm sure theyll be stacking the box in anticipation of Ray Rice and the running game and tendency of throwing the ball deep. The Steelers successfully used this game plan against them because they were expected them to throw it deep to their fast WRs all game.

Heres the article:

Anything that mixes up the offense and makes that Patriots D think would be effective, IMO. We should do a combination of everything. If Cam has been saving plays somewhere in the back of his playbook, now is the time to pull them out.

I don't think the Patriots are that aggressive on defense. Belicheck had a gameplan against the Broncos to stop them in the backfield when they ran the ball because there was almost no threat of passing the ball. That plan wouldn't work against the Ravens. Not with the speed of Torrey combined with the arm of Joe.

A short, quick passing game would be nice but so would firing Cam Cameron... Hey, we can all dream, right?

It won't matter what approach we take if the WRs and TEs can't beat their man one on one. This has been a problem in the past as well. The good news is the Patriots defense relies on Tom Brady to bail them out. I think the Ravens will control the time of possession and limit the times Brady gets his hands on the football. That can lead to Tom pressing or the offense getting out of sync just enough for a Raven to make a splash play.

I like our depth at secondary against the Patriots WRs and TEs.....put Jimmy Smith on Gronk or Hernandez, Webb on Wes Welker or Branch, Cary WIlliams statistically was our best CB according to an article I read (sorry I didnt bookmark it)...just saying Webb and Williams are pretty good CBs....

If our pass rush can wake up, if Ngata comes out of his slumber that he's been in for months, if McPhee or Kruger step up, if Suggs can beat his double teams or whatever needs to happen...WE NEED to get pressure on Tom, if we can then our chances of victory goes even higher.

For all the flak Joe takes, it's really not him, its the OC, the system we run, and the personnel we have...guys like Boldin make a few plays but he's not someone who will carry us. Torrey Smith needs to ball out ALL day!! Lee Evans needs to be unleashed against this Patriots defense...and Cam please PLEASE use Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta.....also you can line Ray Rice up as a WR

We can win this game, the media wont you to believe its all Patriots all day, and it never was in question....they want Tom Brady in the SuperBowl, they dont care about Joe Flacco or the Baltimore Ravens

I ask you all, does anyone actually believe anymore that Cam called that week 1 Steelers gameplan? I really think he must have slept in that day. No way that brilliantly called gameplan and the thing we saw last week were done by the same guy.

yeah, what happened that week? I was really shocked and hopeful coming out of that game

everything clicked on offense, WRs made plays for Joe, the OL blocked amazingly

they need to put that tape in and watch it

Thats the kind of offense we should be doing all year. As awful as it is, I dont think we can to it because we havent done it all year and now doesn't seem like the time of year to completely change the offensive scheme.

I say first play we throw deep to Torrey Smith then we mix it up with runs and short passes to maximize points and time of possesion and keep Baby off the field. We do that, then hello Indy!

i really don't think that it is "always" a matter of our WRs not being able to beat their man or get seperation from the DBs/LBs. like we keep hearing in the media. our boys are professionals! sometimes, it due to Joe's lack of releasing the ball quickly to them...OR....not leading them with his passes! once Joe "leads" them...they can just catch the ball in stride oppose to their stopping and going and trying to figure out if Joe is gonna run or scramble out etc. i believe that all of these issues will be cleaned up for tomorrow's game and that Joe and our offense will be clicking on all cylinders towards a great victory in foxboro. Joe will have a stellar game!

I'm all for a dink and dunk type offense in this game. Patriots like to play their safeties deep and the also like to keep the offense in front of them. So the middle of the field will be more or less open. They also have a lack of speed on the edges. So a screen or flat to Rice might pick up some good yardage.

Also a dink and dunk offense will prolong a drive. Therefore keeping Brady off the field.

Everyone wants to keep brady on the sidelines. I just think we need to be able to stop him when he is on the field. Any time we score he has the chance to score. The key to this game is to stop him. Not somehow magically handcuff him to the sideline.

Something out of character that could throw the Pats off and might work? Too good of an idea to be implemented by Cam Cameron.

Its also possible to keep Brady on the sidelines through injury. Not that I am suggesting anything, simply an observation.

Nah, if we hit him that hard, I guarantee a new penalty will come out. "Injuring the Brady - automatic win for the Patriots."

Sounds too smart a game-plan for Cam's liking.

Fixed for you. I always felt that Cam was saving plays for certain games. Then I stopped believing in that hypothesis. I realized what I was seeing is all that Cam could bring to the table.

everyone keeps talking about how the patriots defense isn't that good. kinda like people are saying that the Ravens can't beat the patriots or that the Ravens offense can't put up enough points to keep up because the Ravens offense is predictable or that the Ravens defense can't handle the patriots 2 TEs. smh! sooo, i wouldn't put much stake in people saying that the patriots defense is horrible.

afterall, that so-called horrible and atrocious defense of the patriots made it to the AFCCG that's being played tomorrow. i say, go right at them! i hope Cam throws the kitchen sink at those cats because they will be expecting a heavy doss of Rice...which they shall get! but, throw in some screens, draws, pitches, tosses, sweeps and quick slants across the middle and then run that playaction and catch them deep. c'mon Cam!

Goooo Ravens!!

I would love to see all these things. Unfortunately I don't think they're in Cam's repetoire.

Cam Cameron only has 15-20 passes in his IHOP Menu. I hope he can get creative today. It's a longshot, I know, but hopefully Harbs gets on him if he's effing up.
