I Heard Our Defensive Gameplan Is...

Just mix everything up. 4 man rushes, 5 man rushes, sometimes 6, every blue moon 3 man rush. Cover 1, Cover 2, every blue moon Cover 0. Mix it up and don't try to be too creative or fancy, keep it simple. Best success we had against Brady, we kept it simple and you can get creative every blue moon but Brady going against Rex Ryan twice a year, the last two games their O has scorched Rex Ryan defense so Bellicheck and Brady have caught on to the fancy, creative stuff. Occassionally blitz Ray Lewis up the A gap.
This! Brady folds and goes into the fetal position when faced with pressure in his face. I want to pressure him up the middle a ton. McPhee and Redding need to have a good day rushing; well, everyone does, but especially those two. I want to rattle Brady and keep him nervous and scared.

I have a hunch we will see "organized chaos" on Sunday tbh..

Oh man, I hope so. Let these boys eat.

I think rushing 5 is the best way to go. Suggs and Ngata demand more attention and they'll need at least 6 guys in the box. That means at most 4 receivers, and anyone going deep is probably a lost cause because the pressure can still get to Brady fairly quickly. Then all we need is for our LBs to hold up against the TE (be it one or two) for a few seconds which isn't asking too much. (And we'd have 6 guys in coverage, so we can double someone and still have a safety over the top)

I doubt it, like I said before, Brady and Bellicheck obviously has adjusted to that and if you go back to the archives, that style of play is really not that effective on QBs like Brady, Manning, and Brees. What gives them problems is 4 man rush pressure with occasionally blitzing someone, that's it. I think we will see a more Greg Mattison style D, minus the 3 man rushes a lot.

Today i heard on the radio (Hacksaw Hamilton) that the Ravens are preparing what is called a "Green Dog" defense, which is man to man coverage and blitzing 5 or 6 players every down. I've been watching the Patriots vs Steelers game from this season and i can assure you that i saw the Steelers do this exact same thing quite a few times. What do you guys think? This just makes me excited.
who let the dogs out?
That's exactly how you stop them.

Keeping Brady hurried, it doesn't matter how talented the rest of that offense is if Brady has to get rid of the ball before they can win their one on one matchups.

In other words, the exact same plan the Texans used against us.
that is exactly how you do it! you can't give a qb like brady time to stand flat-footed and hop up and down re-setting his feet to make a throw to the open man. and IF we get too him early and often....he'll get frustrated!

I believe Redding, Ngata, and Cody will command their offensive line. One of the TEs may need to stay in to block the front 3 or the OLB. That means 5-6 of their players will be dedicated to stopping our rush. they will probably use Hernandez or the RB to block and use Gronk to catch. I believe the center is weak, which should collapse unless they play great. This will allow Lewis to shoot through the middle and make a sack. Suggs & Jj can rush from the edges or contain the run if they see it coming.

This leaves Reed and Pollard to roam or blitz. I like Ellerbe more for this game than McClain but McClain is good too. We should use his coverage skills. Maybe even use Zibby in the ILB position.

Webb & Jimmy play man coverage. Webb on Welker and Jimmy on Branch or Ocho.

Watch every game throughout the season and waddya know work has to mess with me and my schedule come playoff time. I would of been able to see both championships. The arseholes had to switch me to nights, and decide not to tell me until my last day off just to tick me off even more.

Looks like i'll be on the monkey wrench instead cheering on my Ravens, you guys will have to pick up the cheering for me.

This, we're going to flood zones over the middle of the field and play a two deep man primarily with limited overload zone blitzing on 3rd downs. People give Mattison alot of crap, but his game plan for that divisional game was phenomenal. He attacked Brady up the middle with pressures, instead of outside pressures that alot of people try to do. I can remember he designed a blitz with 3 LBs coming up the A gap so there was just no one to block them all. Green Ellis didn't know who to take, and thats how Lewis got his sack.

But the "green dog" defense sounds cool haha.

Let's not forget that the Patriots do run the ball almost as much as they pass during the playoffs lol.
Let 'em! The whole plan is to stop the pass attack and try to beat us on the ground (lol)

We have to tackle and not let a lot of yac
This is the key. 2700 of Brady's passing yards this season were YAC.

No yards gained after they catch the ball.

I hope our TEs have better games then their TEs since they practically took who were going to take right before us both times.

Considering heavily their TEs are featured, I'd be surprised if Pitta and Dickson outproduce Gronkowski and Hernandez on Sunday. No reason the this team can't win in spite of that though.

As for the draft, the Ravens weren't going to take Gronkowski. Link

Please, God, let the Ravens try to cover Gronkoski with one guy. Please...
Hope he has been working on his pass protection! Brady cant get him the ball from his back, ya know..

But seriously, should be interesting to see him and Ray bang heads when he comes over the middle. The old man still hits like a truck; and Gronk is kinda like trying to hit a truck.

This is the one aspect I am actually pretty confident in. I wouldnt be surprised if we saw JJ hold one of their guys up and let Pollard hammer them a few times, just to send a message...they are going to get hit hard every time they touch the ball.
Even if the intimidation tactics don't work, the seeds will be planted.

Exactly. We need to go into NE and impose our will onto THEM. Tell them that this isn't the powerderpuff girls their facing anymore (Dolphins, Bills and Broncos). I don't know if NE can handle our physicality.

The irony of it all. The Ravens drafted Sergio Kindle and wouldnt have drafted Gronk because they thought he may have been a medical issue... lol

They sure as heck couldn't handle PIT ruggedness, so I'd expect the results to be similiar this weekend.
But when we swing, we better not miss.

Ugh. I mean seriously ... even though you cant forsee a guy falling down a flight of stairs, the dude had injury issues when we drafted him!!

But I think we made the right choice at the time. If Sergio can hit the field next year, it may still turn out to be the right choice.

shoot, it'd be awesome if he hit the field and locked up on of NE's tight ends lol. That would make me a believer

Wasn't it just a couple of scope surgeries on Kindle's knee? Gronkowski had vertebra damage to his spine lol, totally different animals on the injury scale. A scope surgery you're back to playing in 3 weeks like Boldin was.

It was, but I believe the fear was that Kindle might eventually need (possible)career ending surgery.

Right, the dreaded micro-fracture surgery that Gregg had which would be way worse for a rush LB. Man I really hope Kindle gets in Sunday instead of one of those big hogs. And I really hope Kindle makes some noise in training camp next year.

Yeah, but there was also a possibility of needing a serious surgery (forget what it is called) that could have ended his career before it even started ... either way, still a concern when ya have a pass rusher with a history of knee problems..
