Rex Ryan Says Ravens Win On Sunday

68 posts in this topic

Rex knows the Patriots. They beat his Jets twice this year. Hopefully, he will call John with some inside information on what worked against them.

Doubt it. Rex feels snubbed by the Ravens org. Even though he hates the Pats more, he won't be helping us. And even if he did, they still got smoked by the Pats twice this year.

Just now on New Yorks 660 sports talk radio...he said he believes in his heart of hearts we get it done...says he sees a Giants Ravens superbowl..

Rex said you have to out physical the pats and we have a team to do that...the most important part is when he said he thinks the defenses gameplan will be to rush only 4..and he thinks Suggs will have a big game

-__- don't know if this is a good thing lol
Talk about your ultimate jynx. Looks like Patriots vrs. 49rs at the Superbowl. Rex, why would you do that to us?

I bet Flacco would make Holmes, Burress, Keller, etc. look waaaay better than Sanchez ever could. Maybe this year's Ravens corps if Lee had been healthy, was better, but over their careers I'd say Sanchez has had the advantage of Joe in the weapons department, and certainly in the o-line department.
I can agree that Sanchez has had better weapons over his career and a better o-line than Joe. Even with Evans out for the majority of this season though, I'd still take the Ravens WRs.

The Jets really underutilized Holmes this year. I can't stand the guy but he's a damn good WR.

Things change from season to season. Last year the Packers had one of the best defenses in the NFL. Then teams had an offseason to study it, and Dom Caper's same schemes weren't nearly as effective this season. I'm just surprised your defense is as poor as it has been this season. I think there's a lot of talent on that side of the ball with McCourty, Mayo, etc. But you're right, execution is the key to any gameplan. But I'm not worried about our defense - it's the other side of the ball I'm worried about.
Why did our defense suck:? Below is a list of defensive players who have been on IR most of the season or missed more than 10 games. They were all either starters or in the primary rotation at their position. Its why we continually had to start street FA's and WRs in the secondary over the course of the season. What I can't figure out is how the Packers could have been worse.

2 things give me hope. 1. is that the team turns over the ball with regularity. One of the best in the league - Its why, while we were 31st in yds, BUT were 15th in scoring (18 less points over the course of the season and we'd have been in the top 10) The 2nd reason is that the last 3 names on that list have come back at the end of the season,
Dowling - CB
Boddin - CB
Barrett - S
Wright - DE
Pryor- DT
Cunningham OLB
Carter - DE
Chung - S
Spikes ILB
Fletcher = ILB

The national media rarely mentions the Pats injury situation. Mostly because BB ignores it as well. BTW- the best offense in the league also had to overcome losing their starting RT hasn't played since September, their starting C went on IR after the first game and both LT and LG has missed couple of games each. In fact there was a period when the #2 Center went down and the #3 C started a game....and he went down, and the #4 C who had been on the PS started 2 games before the #2 C came back.

I only mention this as a acknowledgement of the Pats depth and resolve; and complaint against the mediots who always give SOME teams (see Steelers) the "injury excuse" while ignoring the fact other teams have them too.

All respect to Ray and Ed, but you guys don't have an offense save for Ray Rice .
This is Brady's Year...he deserves it.
That's pretty weak. He's got to earn it. They still play the games for a reason.

And a 3 time Champion Hall of Famer deserves it over a Hall of Famer without a ring (Reed) why???

We understand that you have a lot of injured defenders, but the fact remains that your current defense is still God awful. However, I give the Patriots a ton of credit for not crying about it, and for still winning and making it to the AFCCG. With that many players hurt, and that bad of a defense, I give you guys credit.

I'd like to see your face when Torrey Smith just beats your young CB and safety deep. Last week the Texans had to put JoJo on him to contain him. Torrey's beaten guys like Revis and Haden. The Pats will be a cake walk.

And besides that. What the hell has Brady deserved over anybody else? Suggs is playing DPOY level, so he DESERVES a SB ring more. Brady's got one so his time has past.

If anything Brady deserves a tissue and a diaper for all the crying he does to the refs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pags got a phone call this week from good ol' Rexy.

Rex and his brother have designed schemes to slow down the Patriots offense. Chuck is familar with their playbook so I would not be surprised if Pagano uses some of those exotic scheme packages...

I expect a lot of stunts, twists, turns, and shifting within the DL. Going to use the Amoeba defense, which is a pass defense scheme created to confuse the QB's reads by having no real defensive set, all the defenders are standing and kind of in and out of the box. The Ravens have the talent at LB/DL to execute it and it can be a winning gameplan..

Totally agree. Lots of runs and short passes, eat the clock, keep Brady of the field. It's how the Giants did it in 07, how the Steelers did it this year and how the Broncos almost did it, and how the Ravens need to do it to win.
Wut?

41-23 and 45-10 is not "almost" beating the Pats.

Ed Reed deserves A ring more than Brady ever will.
In that first game, they were up 16-7 in the second quarter. The Patriots scored 20 in the second quarter, and then only 14 the rest of the way, while the Broncos only got seven more points the whole game. But if they'd managed to hold the Patriots in that second quarter, things would have been different - the score would have been a lot closer. For three quarters of that game, the Broncos played the Patriots quite well, and Brady was never taken out. It wasn't like the Pats tried to ease up in the second half, Brady kept trying to throw it. That first game was a lot tighter than the score indicates, most of the time the teams looked even - the Broncos defense held the Pats in check pretty good, and the Patriots defense held the Broncos in check pretty good. What hurt the Broncos was on their first series in the second quarter, Lance Ball fumbled the ball on his own 23 yard line and Ninkovich recovered it. New England still only managed 3 points out of it. Then some guy named Anderson fumbled the ball on the 46 yard line, and New England recovered it again - got a touchdown. Then a 3 and out forcing a punt, and New England scored again - field goal. So two fumbles and a 3 and out led to New England possessions, 2 of them in Denver territory, and 13 points. Yes New England was opportunistic, but it was kind of like how we had a 21-7 lead on Pittsburgh, then Joe gets intercepted, Ray Rice fumbles, and Matt Birk snaps the ball into his own leg in the second half - 3 turnovers, Pittsburgh gets let back into the game, game over. Mental mistakes and poor execution cost the Broncos in the first game. The second game I agree with you, the Patriots came out firing and didn't stop.

It's like our game against the Texans. Their 2 turnovers gave us 14 points. Us trying to run Ray Rice 4 times in the redzone cost us 7 points. If they don't turn the ball over deep in their own territory, maybe they beat us 13-6. If we'd scored at TD, we beat them 27-13, or kick a field goal and beat them 23-13. But 27-13 looks a lot better than 20-13 right? The score would not indicate just how tight the game really was. That's what I'm trying to say - that first Pats-Broncos game looks like a complete and total domination of one team over the other, and I'm saying I don't see it that way, because one team made serious mental errors and gave the other double digit points almost for free.

Take away a few turnovers and the first game is closer. Not making excuses, just sayin, the Pats had no answer for that run game.

It's the playoffs baby. Gotta step it up.

But seriously, Brady does deserve this one. Forget the the hundreds of other football players that have been playing their asses off this year.

I actually think he could have worked down here in B-More. His main problem is he tried to coach the Jets as if they were the Ravens, but they aren't they aren't as mature and down have the in-house leadership that the Ravens have. Not saying that he would have done better than the Harbs, but it wouldnt have been the train wreck it's becoming in New York.
