Rex Ryan Says Ravens Win On Sunday

68 posts in this topic

Just now on New Yorks 660 sports talk radio...he said he believes in his heart of hearts we get it done...says he sees a Giants Ravens superbowl..

Rex said you have to out physical the pats and we have a team to do that...the most important part is when he said he thinks the defenses gameplan will be to rush only 4..and he thinks Suggs will have a big game

-__- don't know if this is a good thing lol

Rex Ryan, "First off, the Ravens are going to win this game." "I think Terrell Suggs might be the difference in this game...Let's face it: I'm cheering for the Ravens!"

If it was any other coach predicting a win for the Ravens I would be ok with it.

it's more peronal than objective for Rex.

He was a former Raven and hates the Cheatriots. go figure, he wants the Ravens to win.

Well, Rex did beat the Pats last year, so maybe he knows something we don't about how good defenses approach them now.

he didn't fair so well this season :o

i hope The Ravens have the game film from the Pats - Steelers game. That was a blueprint on how to beat the Pats. Brady took only three snaps in the first quarter. Run Ray Rice till he has nothing left, then run him some more. Keep Brady off the field and make him uncomfortable by getting in his face when he is on the field.

as long as he didn't guarantee it

Lol! Well played.

His thoughts on why he believes we will win are similar to ours, no doubt. But talking about it and doing it are two different things entirely. Something Rex should know an awful lot about by now.

Totally agree. Lots of runs and short passes, eat the clock, keep Brady of the field. It's how the Giants did it in 07, how the Steelers did it this year and how the Broncos almost did it, and how the Ravens need to do it to win.

He did it twice last year, didn't he? I really think Rex's only problem as a head coach is an inability to admit when his quarterback just isn't any good. I mean let's face it. This is Flacco's worst season as a pro since his rookie year, and he still had a better season than Sanchez and came up with signature wins when it counted, despite the fact that Sanchez has a very good receiving corps, I'd even say better than ours, and he didn't have to play the Steelers or Bengals twice.

That is probably the only film Cameron did not look at.

Actually, the "kiss of death" is when Chris Collinsworth picks your team to win or go "all the way". Luckily he picked the Pats for this game (he picked us against San Diego).

Yes, Rex was very, very impressed with our D when we won against the Jets; he should be as he feels his legacy is still her (with Pagano as well). And I concur, he really needs to admit that his QB is much less (IMO) than our QB. :)

Go Ravens!

I meant he's used to talking the talk and not walking the walk, a la his "guaranteed" Super Bowl victories.

I agree that Sanchez holds them back but I wouldn't take their WR corps over ours. Holmes isn't worth it for the attitude he'd bring to the locker room, Burress has next to nothing left in the tank. They don't have anyone else of note.
Sounds like Rex is trying to give Pagano some good advise.
I wouldn't be surprised if Pags got a phone call this week from good ol' Rexy.

He knows the Pats and the Ravens, so maybe he is on to something. We all want him to be right so look at it as a positve.
THANK GOD for Rex. I actually thought you guys had a chance against us....before Rex opened his trap :D

Seriously, the Steelers won the game by throwing the ball (50 times IIRC), and a lot to their TE, with short passes. 2 LONG drives, a 3 and out and BAM the first quarter was over. It was a great game plan.

On defense they played a tough man under 2 deep zone and were very effective at it. Its what I expect this week from the Ravens. The "blueprint" is to rush 4 be physical (they can't call them all) and don't give up the big play. Its no secret However, most of the time the "blueprint" is hard to execute.

Just ask Rex, he had the "blueprint" AND a top 10 defense and he gave up 30 and 37 in his 2 games with the Pats

I bet Flacco would make Holmes, Burress, Keller, etc. look waaaay better than Sanchez ever could. Maybe this year's Ravens corps if Lee had been healthy, was better, but over their careers I'd say Sanchez has had the advantage of Joe in the weapons department, and certainly in the o-line department.

Things change from season to season. Last year the Packers had one of the best defenses in the NFL. Then teams had an offseason to study it, and Dom Caper's same schemes weren't nearly as effective this season. I'm just surprised your defense is as poor as it has been this season. I think there's a lot of talent on that side of the ball with McCourty, Mayo, etc. But you're right, execution is the key to any gameplan. But I'm not worried about our defense - it's the other side of the ball I'm worried about.
