Greg Cosell Slams Ravens Recievers And Cam Cameron

144 posts in this topic

My perception of Cam and the film i've studied is...

25% of the time, I think hes a genius the way he manipulates defenses, and the way hes able to call plays that allow us to convert 3rd downs consistantly.

25% of the time, its like ok... kinda questionable play call... but our playmakers made something happen.

50% of the time.... WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!!!!!!!

sometimes I feel like hes lazy with his gameplan, and its been "well documented"... as Billick would say, that hes very stubborn with adjustments.

Lee Evans was a very solid WR in Buffalo, look what happened now that he's entered the Cam Cameron way back machine. Anquan's numbers have dropped off drastically also. The receivers aren't the problem, they were doing their jobs very well on their former teams (that is the reason we got them in the first place). It's when they started playing for the "blast from the past" known as the Cam Cameron offense, their production dropped off very noticeably.

To be fair both Lee and Cam missed time during the season. But yeah, Cam should be smart enough to realize that Q does his best work out of the slot, like he was used in Arizona. Instead, on almost every play he has Q lined up on the outside.

Yep, I would agree. We get game plans like week 1 versus the Steelers, and we're like "alright, this guy's a genius." Then we spend 16 weeks hoping to see that game plan and those results again, and we never do. Instead we get remarks like "I guess I'm not invited to the pancake social."

Well they are gonna have to be close to perfect tomorrow, but we all know they are careful. Only stat i`m worried about is the Patriots int`s. Pretty sure they lead the league even though they have the 31st ranked defense. If the receivers aren`t getting open and the game gets to the point where Flacco HAS to throw, we might be in trouble. But I have the utmost faith in them and no matter what happens I will be proud of the Ravens.

-A win would be great though cause me roommate is a die hard Patriots fan and I am getting sick of hearing him talk crap about how much of a blowout it will be. Every time we lose to them I never hear the end of it, would love to shove it in his face if we win.

As a non-Ravens fan hearing this, I would say "Yeah, it's everyone's fault but Flacco..."

This ends it for me. Everyone who analyzed the film, Cosell, Baldinger, Wilcots, Simms, Jaworski, Dilfer, heck even Tom Jackson and he's been a quiet but firm critic of Joe since Joe got into the league - all of them said Joe played the best game he could considering the protection he was getting and the fact that the receivers just didn't get open. Now who blames Flacco - uh, let's see, noted Ravens hater and Flacco hater Jamie Dukes - they even made a reference to Jamie's dislike of Flacco during the week 1 Steelers beatdown. Go back and watch that video, see what they say to Dukes and his obvious lie of a response. Who else - "Primetime" and Michael Irvin, very poor analysts on the whole. Like all of the credible guys said he played okay to he played well. The only people criticizing him are people who have criticized him his whole career.

Maybe we'll get lucky, win, and some sucker franchise will hire Cameron as their head coach. Hiring retreads seems to be the "thing" this offseason.

I think the analyst world works the same as the analyst paycheck world. Analysts who favor the big-market teams are favored with a bigger paycheck because they are pissing off less of the viewers and therefore promoting positive ratings. Jaime Dukes is everywhere in the NFL and not surprisingly he loves big-market teams and big-market names. Deion, it seems, switched from a Ravens fan to a Steeler fan this year and not surprisingly he's involved in more segments and more shows with NFL Network and NFL.com.

thats what i thought too, or maybe the Ravens will hire another offensive assistant, a lot of teams have those now...Green Bay, New England somewhat, New Orleans....a think some fresh ideas would be good

and maybe someone can teach the WRs and TEs how to beat man coverage

In the 2nd steelers game this year RB coach Wilbert Montgomery suggested to Cam to put Q in the slot for the final drive. If that didn't happen we most likely lost that game for sure. Hell even Kurt Warner, who played with Boldin, said we have to do that much more often. I and many others want to see Lee and Torrey on the outside with Q in the slot "a lot" for this game no disrespect to Vontae Leach.

Wow, didn't realize this: Lee Evans played 8 snaps. Not 8 targets, not 8 passing plays, 8 snaps on offense, period. I'm sorry I doubted you for not showing up in the game Lee. How could you show up if you weren't on the field?
[/quote]

That is why I am hoping very hard that we keep Lee. His talent has been GREATLY underutilized this season by Cam. This is what burns me. Last year, the goal was to get younger and fasters in the wide receiver position, we didn't bring back Mason for that reason. Lee Evans has proved himself beyond a shadow of a doubt in Buffalo, he just had the misforture for playing for a sucky team. He couldn't help it that he got hurt, but he healed and instead of Cam putting him back out there to work him back in, Cam pretty much benched him. Steve didn't write that check so that Lee wouldn't have his opportunties to be productive to the team. This is why once again why Lee Evans should remain with the Ravens and Cam needs to be fired.

Which video? The NFL Network I believe has them all. If I remember correctly, his exact line was "I like Joe Flacco, I just think he hasn't proven he can beaten the Steelers yet."

Nope. 8 carries for Rice in Jacksonville when 2 TDs wins that game. 5 carries in Seattle, 5, and benched in the second half. 10 carries v. San Diego. You have to understand one thing - not only is Air Coryell based on a heavy rushing attack and play action, for weeks everyone has been on the air saying how simple the Ravens' offensive scheme is. The one trick we have is to use play-action to disguise when we pass, otherwise we run the same 10 plays and the defense shuts us down. We HAVE to run to win, we HAVE to because Cam has set this offense up to fail when we don't. But still whenever he gets the chance, Cam tries to become the only offensive coordinator in history to successfully implement Don Coryell's scheme without the help of a good running game. That is why he has to go.

Ok so I just learned we use 2 wr sets the most in the NFl at 56 %. This is becoming a passing league whats the point of trading for Q, Lee, and drafting Doss if they barely go 3 wide. Then again we have probowl fullback and 2 te's so this is a great problem to have. Best wishes to Cam tomorrow please call a good game!
