What Playing Raven's Football Means To Cam

21 posts in this topic

i just got finished watching Game Plan....and i could tell from Cam's interview that he's conservative in his play calling because he is sooo fearful about turning the football over. but there was something else peculiar that i noticed in his interview. he said the following things mean "Playing Ravens Football" to him:

a. physical
b. taking care of the football
c. penalty free
d. complimentary football
e. field position game when needed
f. making big plays when needed
g. we need to run the football
h. when we throw it we need to complete it
i. we need to get 1st downs and completions

hmmm...what do you feel is missing from his list?

Time-killing possession football is probably our best bet against the Patriots because you want to keep Brady and his offense off the field as long as possible. Also, grinding and wearing down the Patriot defense will lead to big plays late in the game, if we need to score a lot. I know it's not going to be pretty, but we need to try to keep our defense rested to make them go all out on Brady. Another is we need to score point instead of punting because points put pressure. Touchdowns are favorable, but field goals help. I think our defense is going to play hard to keep us in the game.

Some sets I want to see from Cam if he open up his playbook. Also I want the offense take their time in the 1st half by changing into multiple packages.

- Short passing games
- Bunch Formations: I want to see what Evans, Anquan, Torrey can do together in a bunch set
- Use TEs Pitta and Dickson for mismatch
- Screen passes to Rice to keep defense honest

- Run heavy sets because running is one of the best ways to keep possession and kill clock.
- Unbalance tackles, extra tackles, fullback, the whole heavy crew.
- More Ricky Williams to pound that defense down
- Delay draws when we have a spread formation to gain big yards

- Trick plays?
- End arounds with Torrey Smith and Lee Evans?
- Wildcat formation with Ricky Williams and Ray Rice on goalline?

Ravens football means to Cam ?

Hmmmm, play it safe, never do anything to cause the opposing defenses some surprise. Don't effectively use the playmakers you are given. I'm looking toward Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta and Lee Evans when saying this....

It's like if Ray Rice and Ricky can't get it going.....and if Boldin can't beat his man and Torrey can't catch a ball....thats the ball game...thats our whole offense

So Predictable

predictable isn't always bad. case in point: the Packer Sweep. everyone knew it was coming, nobody could stop it. Our offense wants to be like that, but needs to be run with just a bit more intelligence at times.

I hate to state the obvious, but I noticed he has 9 things on that list, and the phrase "scoring points" is not on any one of them. Here is the problem with Cam Cameron. He has to go out there and try to score as much as possible, but he doesn't - hence the conservative label. Trust the defense if you turn the ball over, that's what they're here for. I think they'd all respect you more if you turned the ball over going for a lot of scores rather than going 3 and out all the time because you're afraid to take risks.

Cam is drawing alot of fire this morning on Sirius NFL radio. They are saying his offense is 1960's football. All 2 receiver sets with a fullback and a tight end. Receivers can't beat 1 on 1 coverage. All routes are screens or go routes.

C'mon Cam, show us something new!

I wish he'd just learn to use Lee Evans, this guy was a Pro Bowl Speedy WR on a Buffalo team with NO QB

I'm pretty sure he is FINALLY healthy and I know Joe can throw a nice deep ball

Imagine Torrey on 1 side, Evans on the other and Boldin or Pitta/Dickson in the slot with Ray out of the backfield

Or maybe just maybe a WR BUNCH formation

Whatever happened to that quick out route Mason used to run? That was like a first down machine, I'm pretty sure Lee Evans could run that and much much more.

That 1 handed grab he made against the Texans was jaw dropping and if he didn't fall it would have been a TD

The big question is why hasn't Harbaugh taken over?
Because John isn't an offensive play caller.

I think he doesnt trust Joe for some reason. I wish we had a creative coordinator. I believe our offense could be top 10.

Joe Flacco, as much as the majority of people try to deny it, is a top 10 QB. In a QB driven league this group of offensive personnel would easily be top 10 with a competent offensive coordinator.

Agree 100%.
I think hes in the Rivers/Romo tier of QBs. Even though Im not a fan of Romo, I think Joe is in between those two.
I feel one day he'll be a little better then Eli, which is fine to me

Cam tries to outsmart the defense but all he does is outsmart himself. SMH

He should start trying to outdumb his self

i bet the first offensive play for us will ethier be run to the right or run up the middle. then run. Pass
then near the end of the game run pass pass.
Or if we are winning in the 4th... run run run punt

Cam calls plays so bad Belicheck probably says "turn the Cameras off during morning warmups sunday before we get confused trying to stop those end-arounds. Guys close it up Spy-Gate Part II is a no go, either this Cam Cameron is a complete genius or the dumbest OC I've ever spied on. Even his 2 min offense confuses us with its slow tempo " lol
