My Level Of Respect For Ed Reed And How Much It Dropped

Reed was an idiot for doing what he did Not so much for what he said but who he said it to. Reed is no rookie He knows what the Media is and what they do. In the end he tried to make it right publicly as he should have. However, the damage was allready done. Joe did the right thing playing it off. By the way, Ed is being Ed is no excuse.

yeah, thats why I was so disappointed in Reed...he would normally never call out guys in the media I think but because this is probably his last go around, this is his last chance at that ring he just said what he said and didnt give it much thought

Ed Reed was completely wrong.
Not only to do what he did but his facts were wrong.

After reviewing the game, two QB's (Phil Simms and the Ex Eagles QB) both said that Flacco at the most was off target on only 3 passes during the Houston Game.

Ed may be a great player but he is a terrible teammate and an ignorant person.
To say the things he did against another team mate in public and to be wrong on his facts.

Ed doesn't have a leg to stand on. He played good in the Houston game but its the 1st game in 6 months that he actually showed up.
If he wants to complain, he should stop listening to the NFL Analysts and realize that the problem with the offense is the play design and play calling by Cam.

Man this thread needs to be closed imo. The majority of the people didn't listen to the full sound bite and spew things like this. Stop listening to the media and actually listen to the whole interview.

That's asking too much of some people...

like i said earlier i went off what the media reported, dumb me. all they played was the soundbyte of Ed questioning Flacco about being rattled, they didnt say he was talking about the whole offense needing to play better

so i thought wow Ed Reed, why are u going public instead of talking to Joe man to man...so yeah I learned my lesson and from now on I will look for the whole quote or the entire audio and facts..and not just Media Spin

Agreed Bad call on his part. I also think this is his last chance for a ring but by saying what he said he just made it that much harder and it's hard enough already.

We're basing this on a single statement he's made over the last decade. Yes, he's the ignorant one. The facts are that he called out himself and others aside from Joe Flacco. Did it catch everyone by surprise? Certainly. Not the best timing, in my opinion. However, one comment should not solidify an opinion that he's apparently a, "terrible teammate." Speaking of facts, this definitely wasn't the only game Ed Reed has shown up all season. Not in the least bit. Even though this was probably his best statistical output since the week 1 match up against Pittsburgh, he's given up just 17 receptions in 17 games and 1 TD all season, while coming away with 4 INTs. All of those numbers rank in the Top 5 of all Safeties league-wide who've started throughout the year, including his number of pass deflections and passing yards allowed. Not to mention the passer rating of 46.4 he's giving up to opposing QBs. And while he hasn't been spectacular in tackling this year, he's missed just 1 more tackle than Troy Polamalu, whose strength lies in run support. The point is that even while playing over 1,100 snaps, he's seen less than 2 targets per game. I don't see how some expect him to explode on the stat sheet when he's one of the most avoided players in the league.

Been there and done that, bro! I hadda grow up a long time ago and learned the hard way by trial and error. I have made the same mistakes Ed and Joe made and I learned from them. Thanks for letting me express my opinion though without going off! That's why they have chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. If we're ever on the same TEAM, you can rest assured I'll never throw you under the bus. I'm probably not as informed as you are but I've been a Baltimore fan since 1958 if that counts for something.
Sorry, I was a little blunt in my comments.

Ed did not throw Joe under the bus. Ed made the mistake of speaking candidly, as he always does. The media took a 15 second sound bite and turned it into a mythical controversy. The only harm here is to Ed's image as seen by people who are not Raven's fans and don't know his personality and "country honesty".

I just think you are wrong to think that he did any harm to Joe or the Team. Saying what he did, when read or listened to in its entirety, was nothing more than a challenge to himself and his Team mates to play better moving forward. He just forgot that he had a "hostile" audience! And all in the organization know Ed and they know the media. No big shake.

We are the locker room ladies and gents, the longer we keep this nonsense going, the worst our chances of winning become. I am one of the hardest critics of Flacco on this board, but we are on the verge of doing something great this year. Lets forget for now what Ed said, and get ready to play this one game, that can redefine who we are as a football team. The media didn't have to suffer through those horrible losses we did. The media is not up first thing in the morning checking on who replied to their post about this and that. (We are). The media could care less if Ray had to slice up his Superbowl ring, and pass it around Baltimore in pieces for everyone to be able to touch one. We are the Ravens and they represent us on the field, lets represent them on the forum, and save all this nonsense for the off-season. Go Ravens.!!!!!!!!!!

No harm, no foul, Bro! I'm a really big Ed Reed fan. I call him "The Magician." I just don't think its smart to call out one's teammate(s) during the season. I know he didn't mean anything about it but it just gives the opposition more cannon fodder. The game is difficult enough to play without having to second guess yourself. I enjoy reading your posts.

Here's my thoughts on the matter after having time to think about it. There was nothing inherently wrong with what Ed Reed said. When he said Joe has to play better against the Patriots, absolutely true. The issue is not about what he said, but that he said it at all, that he mentioned it to the media at all. Now I don't know what the team actually thinks about the comments, but if I was a guy who just got there this season maybe I'd be thinking "Does Ed no longer believe in Joe?" Even if it was just for a second, I'd probably have that thought. That's really the issue with this whole statement. Ed was being honest, there was nothing wrong with the statement itself, but it's how that statement will be perceived by others that's the problem here.

I was surprised he said anything publicly, Ed Reed and Ray Lewis and those guys usually handle things in house. Joe was already taking a beating in the media so I don't see how adding to that could add to Joe's motivation to prove people wrong. I think if anything it creates more doubts in the teams ability to move the ball or score enough points on offense. I they shut down Ray Rice and Boldin the Ravens dont really have anyone else consistently stepping up to make plays. Torrey is hit or miss, Lee Evans hasnt gotten the time to play and work his way in, Ed Dickson makes some plays, drops too many balls though, even Dennis Pitta who Joe has a great connection with cant seem to hook up with each other consistently

This is a problem, its a coaching problem for sure because the Ravens have talent across the board but it's also a personnel problem, not enough game changers on offense...we are still a defensive dominated team and the offense is still trying to catch up....the special teams are horrible at times, they can cost us

Well everyone around the league is sounding off on Ed Reed and they all agree HE SHOULDN't HAVE SAID IT....like I said go after Cam but dont call your QB shaky, or he was rattled and should have done this or that

Guys on NFL Network were even like wow, YOU NEVER throw the QB under the bus
He didn't throw Joe under the bus at all. He was just being honest and said that Joe was "rattled". It's because he knows that Joe can play better than he did since he knows that he is a very good QB. Joe and Ed joking around during the week shows that Joe understood the comments.
