My Level Of Respect For Ed Reed And How Much It Dropped

Well everyone around the league is sounding off on Ed Reed and they all agree HE SHOULDN't HAVE SAID IT....like I said go after Cam but dont call your QB shaky, or he was rattled and should have done this or that

Guys on NFL Network were even like wow, YOU NEVER throw the QB under the bus
You talking about the same NFL Network that didn't play the full clip? Or the same network that played the clip of Joe saying "I won't get any credit for it anyway" and then cutting the clip right before he laughs, therefore changing the whole tone of the comment? The media is into sensationalized crap, anything they can get to talk about. There are only 4 teams left, so their material is slim right now.

In related news, chocolate chip cookies are tasty...

I like how ed reed didnt say a damn thing about how the defense gave up over 100 yards rushing and how ed dropped a few picks.
Yeah he did, he said he missed a few plays (picks) and that he and the D need to play better.

Who cares what the media is saying? I'm 100% sure that no one on that team is at home watching sportscenter right now and no one has the their radio tuned into Colin Cowherd. The only people paying attention to the media is the fans and the media, everybody in the ravens understands what Ed was saying and couldn't care less about this. The only time it even crosses their minds is when they do their interviews and get asked about it.

It is totally diff from the jets where someone said that their QB sucked without giving up their name. Ed just said that the whole team needed to play better if they want to make the super bowl and Joe being the QB he got a little more of it. So who cares? Not the Ravens not Joe not Harbaugh.

It doesnt matter. He still called out joe flacco. Even if he called out other people too. He still called out joe. Ed hasnt had a great year either and nobody on that team said nothing. I like how ed reed didnt say a damn thing about how the defense gave up over 100 yards rushing and how ed dropped a few picks. This is absolutely the wrong timing. Joe flacco has so much tension going into this game. Its a shame ed.
There is no way you listened to the interview, no way at all. At least listen to the interview before you "shame Ed". Listen to what he says and how he says it. I don't begrudge anyone their opinion, but at least make it an informed opinion.

Did you even listen to the full sound-bite? This thread should be locked.

Ed criticized Joe, the O line, and the team as a whole.
I was just about to say the same thing. So ridiculous. How can our fans be so brain-washed by the media's hard work to create stories and derail the importance of this game from the Ravens?

I'm talking about Ed's comments you referenced, not yours. Lol.

Right, but what was wrong with his comments?

I listened to his commentary. Seemed like he was commenting more on the play calls and Cam more so than Joe. The media just made it out to be more of a personal attack on Joe more than anything else.

As you can see in the pre gam conference it really hurt Joe's feelings. /sarcasm

Is it so hard to think for yourself anymore? Joe said he doesn't care. Harbs said it's all good. Why is this still being talked about?
Trust me, both Joe and Harbs will say that because they both have class. Joe is not going to say, "Screw that so and so!" Joe said the right thing, but it may not be the exact truth. People say a lot of things, even when they are a little hurt on the inside. I remember when someone called out Jeff Garcia. Now that crossed the line! This can be put behind them.

Why do you take what ESPN says to heart? These media outlets are here to stir the pot. Listen to what Joe said about the comments instead (you can find that video on NFLN videos). That's what really matters
I've heard the entire audio and I understand the sentiment in which Ed gave his comments, they were not inflammatory, however, that's me being a responsible and informed Ravens fan. What bothers me is the perception that the rest of the l eague have over Ed's comments based on what the media pundits are spewing out. I get it. What Ed said was not devisive. However, other fans are not going to do the research to ascertain the context of Ed's comments. They are going to take what they hear at face value and judge joe to be an incompetinet bum, and decide that the confirmation of Joe's incompetency is the fact that his own team mate called him out.

It's not a matter or understanding Ed's context and sentiment as a Ravens fan. What concerns me is the perception now around the league, of other NFL fans who won't take the time to hear the entire interview. They're going to hear Skip and the others and think "Damn, we already thougtht Joe was a mediocre quarter back but his own boy is now coming out and saying it. Poor Ravens, they're going to get smashed by NE because their quarter back sucks."

For this reason I think Ed should have kept his mouth shut.

To be fair, Joe did play poorly and the defense did bail out our anemic offense which could only score off of turnovers.
Fair would be to say the OL did horrible, even Yanda got manhandled, fair would be to say the receivers dropped too many balls, fair would be them getting separation and beat man to man....and Flacco will need to make most of those throws.

I'm saying the BYE probably fooled with their rhythm on offense and i still don't understand Reed's decision to say some crap like that now

unless that really is his way to motivate someone

Jesus, man. Nothing is wrong with what he said. What's wrong is what he was insinuating. Forcing the ball, etc. it should not be the way we play

It's a shame Bill Belichick isn't stupid enough to fall for the crap that the Media's spewing.

Seriously, they should be able to sue the media over the idiocy they've been publishing.

It annoys me to no end that these idiots can make up their ill-informed assumptions and publish them like they're fact with no ramifications.

Yea this morning I was listening to Mike and Mike, they dissected the interaction between Joe and Ed. Because Joe texted Reed back instead of calling Ed since Ed left a voicemail, things were really bad between the two.

Tomorrow. They'll be like. They faked a fight, but it wasn't really fake. *head spinning*

For you guys saying that Reed should have called out Cam and the O-line, if you read into it, that's just what he did. Go back and read what he said.........

I know right? I felt that is what he did as well.

Reed is Reed, man. He's said some things to the media before. Sometimes he just does not word things the best way.

If Reed, Joe and Harbs are cool (and from what I've seen and heard they all are) I don't know why we should be upset.

I do not think he had to say it, but I still have so much respect for #20. Joe says he is fine with it Ray and Harbs say there is not a problem so let the outsiders speculate. They know not what they speak of, or just stirring the pot to try and make it a distraction. All we care about is a win on Sunday.

Ed clearly thought more of his fanbase though. But those kinda fans are everywhere and you're absolutely right about how they will react

I stuck up for Reed when he was missing tackles, when he wasn't fast enough to catch up to plays, when he freelances and creates big plays for the other team. I didn't even get on him for his horrible attempt at tackling people these past few weeks.

I respected Ed Reed right along there with Ray Lewis, if he wanted to call someone out the right person would have been Cam Cameron and the rest of that Offensive Line. Calling out the QB the week of the AFC Championship after the weeks of criticism Joe has had gone against him is pretty shallow. I would expect more from Ed Reed and I am supremely disappointed in him.

ED!!!! Go after Cam and hos lame play calling, not the QB who is limited by what he has.

I'll always enjoy the opportunity I got to watch Ed Reed's career but he really messed up on this one.

Way to go Ed, throw the QB under the bus. THATS TEAM right there....pathetic, if that's his attitude about our QB than we should just not show up because now guys are going to questions Joe and maybe the faith needed to beat the Patriots won't be enough now. We can't beat those guys, Ed said so...so why even try?

Maybe I'm being extreme here but I don't care......

ED REED, you let me down big time, buddy
Is this a joke? Because if you heard the entire clip of the interview, Ed didn't really say anything wrong or bad, he even questioned if he could audible or not said he didn't know what freedom they had to do so.
Ed Reed has never been a player that just makes outlandish comments, and he said there is a method to his madness and all his teammates already knew what he said and how it should be taken and won't buy into any media spin,.....

On a side, if Ed Reed or Ray Lewis did decide to call out Flacco and the offense after an average offensive game, then I don't see anything wrong with it because they leave it on field and have made tons of game breaking plays to save this team. In fact Ed Reed has had games where he has scored more points than the passing offense. Or made INTs that led to points via pitch....

The media focuses on that one sound byte, but when you get the whole thing it paints a totally different picture. He called the whole team out: Flacco, the O-line, the defense, and himself also. And he's not saying we're not good enough to beat the Patriots, he's saying the exact opposite. He's saying the whole team did not play to their potential against Houston, and that they all need to play better to win this week.
