My Level Of Respect For Ed Reed And How Much It Dropped

Of course its a opinion....It's the fact that it's disruptive to the team preparing for the game Sunday. Everone who says it's okay, "the media is blowing it out of proportion", Ed being Ed still have the purple shades on. Yes it's a "opinion" its the fact that Flacco, Suggs, Reed and other team members have to answer questions about "Ed Reed's comments" all week leading up to the game.
It takes away the focus for the players... Step back and see Raven nation, the whole nation is talking about Ed Reed's comments and comparing it to the Jets situation and all their talk.
The biggest game for the Ravens in a long time and all everyone is talking about is Reed, Tomlinson, Jets, Ravens and not about the game. See my point?
EXACTLY, Joe was just compared to Mark Sanchez

thats insane, we are such a better organization, Flacco is the man, I think Ed wanted to pump Flacco up maybe but he went about it wrong and now its become a big ORDEAL to the media, which in turn makes it a pain in the butt for the Ravens and their PR staff

And again .. there are those who say something like this can focus players. It's all opinion and conjecture. Even in this thread, half the guys who are ragging a bit on Reed are then saying, "But this could fire Flacco up to play better." Well then, it really wasn't disruptive, was it? No one knows. Only the people in that locker room and how it is taken.

No .. all everyone is talking about is, can Flacco and the Ravens offense play better. Tell me that's not a valid question. Tell me that's not a valid concern. THAT should be entirity of the focus of this team right now. They HAVE to play better as an offense (which is EXACTLY what Reed said). WIthout the defensive picks and fumble, tell me how the offense that came out last Sunday scores enough points to win that game. In fact, tell me how that offense scores anything but FGs the way they were playing.

I think you are wrong. The players are not distracted by this because they know Ed, they know Joe, and they know the true interpretation of what Ed said. If anything it is a rallying point as they come to the defense of Joe AND Ed. And that's not wearing "purple glasses". It's knowing the personality of this squad and the tight knit group that they are. This ain't the jets, it's the Baltimore Ravens.

It's inconsequential what "everyone" else is talking about. Who the heck cares! It's freakin' media fodder! Nothing more. Trying to make it out to be something else is just a distraction for the uninformed.

I think the Ravens OL will come out with something to prove, that's good news for Flacco when he sits in the pocket waiting or a receiver to come open. I think it's a good thing for Ray Rice and Ricky Williams. I think the Ravens will control the tempo of the game and own the time of possession. I think we limit Tom Brady as much as possible so even if he gets the ball and can move it with a good pace it won't matter because the Ravens long methodical drives will shorten this game.

The Ravens defense needs to get pressure on Brady, I don't know how Pagano will attack him...maybe watch some of the stuff they pulled in that '09 game, idk....but here's the thing when our offense is gaining first down and first down the defense doesnt have to be shutdown, if they get 1 or 2 stops a half we should be fine.

Their defense was ranked last and one of the worst in history for a reason, unless it was all apart of Bill's master plan. I believe 100% if they sell out to stop the run, Joe Flacco will pick them apart just like he did to the Steelers on that game winning drive.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but I feel more confident going into this game than I did going into the Texans game.....why? Because the Texans had a GREAT defense....New England Does Not

Whether he called out one player, three players or the entire team, just don't say anything at all. Reed does (should) know better than this. He's seen and heard Ray interview a gazillion times. Open ended, short general answers are best.

And for those that are going to come back with "well, he's right and Joe needs to have a back bone....". Even if that's true, its the MEDIA. Lord, what do you think they'd do with a piece like Ed threw down for them?

Its a huge distraction that the team certainly does not need!

I stuck up for Reed when he was missing tackles, when he wasn't fast enough to catch up to plays, when he freelances and creates big plays for the other team. I didn't even get on him for his horrible attempt at tackling people these past few weeks.

I respected Ed Reed right along there with Ray Lewis, if he wanted to call someone out the right person would have been Cam Cameron and the rest of that Offensive Line. Calling out the QB the week of the AFC Championship after the weeks of criticism Joe has had gone against him is pretty shallow. I would expect more from Ed Reed and I am supremely disappointed in him.

ED!!!! Go after Cam and hos lame play calling, not the QB who is limited by what he has.

I'll always enjoy the opportunity I got to watch Ed Reed's career but he really messed up on this one.

Way to go Ed, throw the QB under the bus. THATS TEAM right there....pathetic, if that's his attitude about our QB than we should just not show up because now guys are going to questions Joe and maybe the faith needed to beat the Patriots won't be enough now. We can't beat those guys, Ed said so...so why even try?

Maybe I'm being extreme here but I don't care......

ED REED, you let me down big time, buddy
I'll quote The Game "I Don't take shots at legends"

Think you are overreacting and Ed is a leader of this team and can call out whoever he wants. He watches more game film than anyone on that team and if he wants to call out the OFFENSE, then why not. He only spoke the truth, I think it will put a fire under their butts more than it will hurt Joe's confidence.

Oh now this is TOO MUCH

Mike and Mike have JJ Watt on and they asked him about Reed's comments about Joe looking rattled...basically JJ was happy to hear it and for them to be saying that he did his job. The guys are treating the Texans like they won the freaking game.....

Please, Ed Reed messed up man....Joe Flacco didn't get rattled, the entire OL did, his receivers and TEs did...

well everyone thinks Joe rattles easily...its BS

Joe Cool for a reason man, YO JJ u lost....GO HOME

I think we've pretty much beat a dead horse back to life and back to death here. I doubt anyone is changing their minds on how they see this.

But I will say one thing; I bet he made his point and that being better than last week is on the mind of everyone in that facility.

I cant wait for the game

Can't wait to watch the Ravens roll over the Patriots, who haven't been a winning team all year...then all the critics will have nothing to talk about, because they can't say nuthin nice about Baltimore Sports.

i have no problem with what ed said. he gets paid to study qbs. if ed is saying something bout the way i play as a qb then i need to open my ears and take what hes saying to heart. ed has played againist the best qbs to ever pick up a ball, if anyone has earned the right to talk about qb play, its ed.

it could be the play calling from cam, actually im sure like 80% is but joe does look like a deer lost in some headlights sometimes. he just stands there when pressure comes. get out of the pocket, extend the play. you say your mobile, use them legs. your not a pocket passer, you will never be tom brady or payton manning. do you and stop trying to live up to those guys.

theres so much pressure on flacco to act like those guys, just say f it, imma do me. the amount of freedom that comes from that simple sentence is amazing.

Seriously? Let it go.

We are just about to cap off a 16 page thread on this topic, only to start a new one because your letting the media affect you? Your stirring the pot even more for the fans. I'm not even going to read the responses in this thread because we've already been over all of this. At this point in time I really don't care who is wrong or right. I'm sure the team is back on the same page and past this. We should be too, not slaves to the media.

Just ignore the media, support your team and we can talk about this until we are blue in the face in the off season.

I don't think Joe played poorly against the Texans. I think actually played quite well. His passes were on point for the majority of the game. He could of had a great day if our oline and pass catchers could of done their jobs.
I agree with this completely. Joe did good. The O-line are the one's who let Joe get sacked five times. I mean come on, Joe can't really control that. And concerning Reed's comments, you need to listen to the actual interview and I guarantee that you'll feel pretty silly for not only getting upset but also for posting this topic to begin with. Reed's words were taken way out of context. As as it was said earlier, if Joe, Harbaugh, and the rest of the team isn't upset, then why are you?

This is not the time to play into the ESPN drama.

I really don't think people should get so worked up over the media blowing this out of proportion.

Joe and Ed and harbs all said everything was cool. Time to move on!

It's not a big deal man...the locker room guys were joking around and with Reed saying he shouldn't have started ish up...they were all laughing about it and the overreaction...

Ed is hard on his teammates...he was going at Webb all week to the point Ladarius wanted him to get off his back...it's his way of motivating players..."a method to his madness" as he said...

He said on Webb's radio show Tuesday that they are constantly critiquing one another every time...but are the hardest on themselves...this team is united and have built a brotherly comradeship...

Yeah that. I couldn't care less what the talking heads or haters say. They're not the ones one game from the SB and they're not the ones getting ready to take down the Brady Bunch. I guarantee that the last thing on Joe's mind right now is what Ed Reed said in some interview. He's coming up with the plan that will put the Ravens in Indy. BRING IT.

The media frenzy surrounding Ed Reed's totally harmless comments is absolutely ridiculous. Ed stated the truth and nobody really even cares about what he said. If anything it was a motivational tool. We're focused on the Patriots and nobody is losing sleep over this. But hey, people can't complain that ESPN won't talk about us now.

What the heck is wrong with everyone here? This week has been bar none THE WORST week this season to read these boards and feel good about this team. Im sick to my stomach right now reading all this crap.

Its actually worse this week than a week following a loss. I dont get it. Go Ravens, the rest of you negative Nancys can go to hell.

My favorite thing about his talk is when he said that it seemed like someone (Cam) was telling him what to do with the ball or who to throw it to or force it to this guy. And you just can't play that way.

Did you even listen to the full sound-bite? This thread should be locked.

Ed criticized Joe, the O line, and the team as a whole.
It doesnt matter. He still called out joe flacco. Even if he called out other people too. He still called out joe. Ed hasnt had a great year either and nobody on that team said nothing. I like how ed reed didnt say a damn thing about how the defense gave up over 100 yards rushing and how ed dropped a few picks. This is absolutely the wrong timing. Joe flacco has so much tension going into this game. Its a shame ed.

Lets start on something more appropriate and constructive debate like what should we need to do to get better so we can win the football this coming Sunday?

1) Pressure Brady bunch and making sure he's laying on the ground.
2) Shut down short passes.
3) Offensively, run the football, use Q in the slot, Evans and Torrey on the outside, 2TEs set, and use alot more Pitta.
4) Whichever Joe or Rice is hot on that day, release him to destroy the Pats.

PS: I never once flinch to concern about my team locker room meltdown; it's like almost impossible to ever happen as long as Ray Lewis is the general.
