He loves him some Joe Flacco. But he's right, as good as the pieces around Joe are right now, he's got the least amount out of any quarterback in the final 4. Now part of that is Torrey is still young, Dickson and Pitta are still young, I really wonder if the front office actually drafted Tandon Doss - does he even exist? I haven't seen him. But at the very least, we've seen that fixing the o-line and giving Joe time will make him a much better player - if he can do what he did vs. Houston while being sacked 6 times and hit like 20 more times, imagine what would happen if he has all day to just sit in the pocket like Brady seems to have.

Brady and Manning undoubtedly have better weapons, but I don't know about Smith. Davis is obviously better than Dickson and Pitta, and at this point in their respective careers, Crabtree has more natural talent than Q. But I'd take Torrey and Evans over Ginn and Kyle Williams. And as good as Gore is, Rice is a better receiving back.

In terms of o-line play, I can't say who's got it better off the top of my head.

This isn't to discredit Flacco. The players around have come up short numerous times all season and Greg Roman's offensive system seems to better than Cam's. But in terms of their offensive supporting cast, it's debatable between Joe and Alex.

Exactly. I like Kiper's points but I'm a bit iffy on his point about a QB being unable to develop without weapons, he can still do so in decision-making capability and ability to read defenses, but I digress.

It's weird to think that we don't have very strong weapons. Before we acquired Q, he was probably a top-15 to 20 receiver in this league. His regression I think you can certainly tie to Cam's inability to tailor the offense to Q's strengths, as I've stated before. However I totally agree with Kiper's assessment of Lee Evans, that was considered a steal of a trade when it was made, but man talk about pretty much 0 impact (though I think he will be huge this Sunday).

To your point about Doss, it's funny because I don't know if you remember in the offseason, Harbaugh mentioned that he went up to Flacco and asked, Hey what receivers do you like coming out of college, and Flacco pointed out Doss. So yeah, I'm also surprised he hasn't been involved.

If the OL can give Flacco time this week and the receivers can get their separation, I think the critics will all be proven wrong

Maybe tied between them - Gore and Rice are a wash to me, since Rice is the better receiving threat but Gore can't be stuffed like Rice can. Davis is clearly a superior tight end. As far as offensive lines go, it would be unfair to compare what happened in our game - for some reason we just had the 49ers number that day. But overall they've stood up well. Anthony Davis may be a bust, but Iupati has done very well. I think Crabtree now is better than Q at this point, and it's really hard for me to say anything about what Lee will bring to the table or Torrey will bring to the table. Maybe this - Smith certainly has had much more time with all of his receivers than Flacco has, so if anything he has, or should have, more chemistry with them.

I like our defensive and offensive lines over those of the Patriots. We are lagging behind them in the TE dept. due to Gronko's incredible season. Pitta will develop into a beast receiver and may carry us to victory tomorrow. Dickson drops way too many passes. I sure wish we had traded up for Gronko last year rather than take Kindle. I see our chances of victory as 55%. We have a slight edge due to the Rice factor. His YAC is off the page (i.e. the Cleveland game). Ray can run for 80+ yard breakaways like he did in the 2010 playoff game in NE. Boldin will offset Welker and Branch with a great day. Evans and Smith will have a few catches, too. I see Flacco having a 200+ yard passing game. We win this game 24 to 21.

I don't like his dumping on Lee Evans not being productive. Lee hasn't been used regularly in order to be productive. The experts have been proven WRONG. They were saying that the Saints were the best team in the NFL and was going to the Superbowl. The Saints were a lock to take out the 49ers WRONG!!! The so called experts picked Green Bay at home off their bye to easily take out the 9-7 Giants. WRONG!!!

Finally saw something useful about Joe Flacco: Kurt Warner on NFL Network just showed clips from the previous game, saying that the inconsistency with our offense starts with the inconsistency of Flacco's surrounding pieces. They showed the numerous dropped passes, then also showed the sacks Flacco took with the QB's view downfield showing that no receivers were getting open at all, and said that if Flacco is going to put up consistently good numbers, he needs consistently high performing pieces around him. I agree completely. The reason Flacco can't put up elite looking numbers isn't because he doesn't have the skill, but because he's not in a system where he's surrounding by quality offensive talent to help him out.
