Will The Media And Fans Run Flacco Out Of Baltimore?

187 posts in this topic

With the media constantly running their mouths about Flacco, with (what seems like) half of the fanbase HATING whatever Flacco does, with Baltimore having a rep of being one of the most unglamorious places to play...Will it all ultimately run Flacco out of town?

I *think* that if Flacco played in a huge media market (NY, Dallas, Left Coast, etc) he would be loved and adored. How many teams can say that their team went to the POs 4 years in a row (now). None, except Baltimore. Except, it seems that to a lot of people in B More, what he does is simply not enough. Dallas hadn't won a playoff game in eons before a few years ago. The Jets got a spark with Sancheese but pissed it away this year. The Chargers always seem to implode at one point in the season damn near every year. Finally, the Redskins haven't sniffed anything in forever. All of the above teams would welcome Flacco (and more importantly his RECORD) with open arms.

I don't understand it - it's not like we're Philly, who've NEVER won a Superbowl - we've won [profanity deleted] before, we should know better. We're not going to reach 6-7 rings anytime soon, and it seems like some Ravens fans have Steeler complex. We HAVE to match or surpass their Superbowl trophies. Of course they won't say it, but I suspect it's true.

Why people in Baltimore seem to hate him is beyond me. The media, I can sort of understand because I don't think they like Baltimore anyway, no matter what happens (but that's another thread).

I said all of that to say this - fans need to start appreciating him because when contract talks come around, he may very well leave. He may say, [profanity deleted] all of the BS that I had to go through in Baltimore, and let me go to a major market where I'll be loved, adored, and filthy rich. Winning may come secondary then.

I can imagine what would happen if THAT occured.

Count your blessings, ya know. You never miss the water until the well is bone dry.

I still believe that Joe needs to separate from Cameron...Perhaps a new OC/QB Coach would help in his development but if that happens and he still struggles then the Flacco experiment probably failed...IMO

Ozzie's got this one. See ozzie sees things in football terms. he sees lack of seperation as opposed to QB yards. After watching us vs. houston it's clear, we just don't have a lot of power on offense.

Baltimore never learns. You would think after the Don Shula debacle back in the day, this would never happen again in Baltimore. We don't learn. We've already seemed to have forgotten about the QB carousel we were on before 2008.

If we get to the Super Bowl and win, I'm sure Joe will get his contract extension. And with that, I'm sure he'll plead his case for a new OC/QB Coach. He's already made it clear that he didn't like Zorn leaving.

I seriously doubt it. Barely anyone on this forum has supported Cam Cameron with any depth (sure, we can agree that sometimes he has some glimmer of genius but never with any consistency or depth). Yet, Cam continues to stay. Although, his errors are really becoming evident to this organization (and others, too). I seriously doubt he has any hope of remaining in Baltimore for much longer.

Flacco has generally had a good career in Baltimore. Like another person has said, I think Cam is a plague on the offense. Zorn leaving was a mistake as well. If Joe is going to get better, we need to find a playcaller that has the perceptive quality to see Joe's talent and how to perfect it (especially in relation to weapons we have). If he cannot seem to progress next year - or under a new O.C. I think it would be wise to start searching for another QB, i.m.o.

We need to step up and make it clear that we support Joe, and that people on this site who are very vocal haters are just a small proportion with a big mouth.

Joe Flacco will be the Drew Bledsoe of the Ravens and he can also retire in Dallas because Romo should be replaced like how Romo replaced Bledsoe and went on to win NOTHING

No...

Everyone gets criticized. John Elway is regarded as one of the best QB ever, but he used to get ripped by the media because he couldn't win the Super Bowl when he carried 3 Denver team to the top. Eli Manning was getting killed in NY (even after he won a SB) last season and people laughed earlier in the year when he said he was elite..

Look at what they said about Micheal Jordan..

I posted in another thread that Aaron Rodgers had a mediocre outing last weekend. Drew Brees threw two interceptions and his QB rating was 93.5.

Is it any coincidence that they were playing against top rated defenses? No.

Can the Flacco detractos at least admit that the Texans are an elite defense. Elite QBs tend not to rack up great stats against elite Ds.

Flacco won. Four years into his career he is performing better than did most elites. Brees and Rodgers will be watching this weekend. .

I think Dan Reeves had a lot to do with that too.

Bottom line is this:

3 of those QBs that everyone likes to throw in Joe's face will be sitting on their couches watching Flacco play on Sunday.

Rodgers, Brees, Rivers.

And you can add our old friend Big Ben to the list.

I hope he does not leave over the moronic crybabies that are constantly screaming that our praiseworthy record is not enough. I am not saying he is great...yet, but he is very good. Good enough to get us to the POs 4 years in a row and (contrary to what some Texans fans may think) that is a pretty laudable achievement. Not to mention we are about to play for the AFC championship and then are looking at another SB. What do fans want? I am more than happy with a winning team from year to year and like it or not, Joe is helping to create those wins.

Now that is a good point. So haters, would you rather have an "elite" QB like Rodgers, Brees, or Rivers and who are sitting on their couches watching the big game, or one like Flacco who is still fighting to play in it?

I like Joe, and I will support Joe as long as he is the starting QB for the Ravens. You can't deny what Joe has done, and I know everyone says its the defense but since Joe has been under center for the Ravens they have made the playoffs and have won at least 1 game in the playoffs. Now to do that WITH Cam is impressive, once Cam is gone, that is when we'll see the real Joe I believe. When is Cam is gone, the real Joe will be loose, he won't be hand cuffed anymore to stubborn Cam. Once I see Joe with a coordinator who isn't Cam, that is when we will really be able to know if Joe is a Franchise QB or not.

This is why we had all those road playoff games. It was building us up for this week.
Joe has expierence on the road in the playoffs, and has been successful, thank god.
I think thats another thing that is overlooked when talking about Joe.
I mean he has won 4 playoff games on the road and is only in his 4th season! Hello? He averages 1 road win a year so we're good lol

I am so sick of Ravens fans complaining all the time. That comment about us being like Philly is really true. I feel like we're never satisfied as fans--honestly, that's a good thing. It means we care about this team; however, sometimes we complain too much and look like spoiled brats.

I mean come on. Flacco misses this, Flacco messed up here, Flacco is a flake, Flacco is sacked too much. I'm just so sick of hearing it. It's like I can't escape the negativity. What ever happened to giving a guy a chance? People want our QB to come in and play like Manning or Brady--but that's just not realistic. I remember people saying to trade Flacco & Rice for Luck. I mean, that's just crazy talk.

The truth is I like Flacco and he is a good player. I feel like he is so criticized because we are in an era where QBs are really taking off and there are even higher expectations for them now. People seem to want that star power in the QB. I'd rather take a player that can play than the sexy pick. I like Flacco more than Ryan, Sanchez, Bradford that's for sure.

I really hope things change around here and people stop complaining so much. I hope people know I don't mean this forum--I mean in Baltimore. I'd hate to lose this guy because people are stupid.

I dont get how some ravens fan will sit here and complain aboht joe. Joe is the most winnigest qb in their first four years, that says quite a bit. And ill be honest, if i were joe, after this season is over, during contract talk, i would make it clear- cam goes or i go. Im saying it now, if joe leaves and cam stays i will highly consider boycotting next year, that would be such a slap in the face to joe and all the fans, i will be ashamed to call myself a ravens fan. What i never hear the joe haters say is who would replace joe? Theres not a better option. Its not like we can just pick up a brady or brees and fans need to learn that not all qbs can be them....

Joe is under contract next year, so don't worry about having to boycott next year.

All the kid has done since he came into the league is WIN....

I'm at such a loss as to why he's so mutally hated among the media and a very sad fraction of our own fanbase.

If that were to happen, I'd be ashamed to be a Ravens fan.

But I know Joe is above that. At least I hope so.

I had to wipe the dust and cobwebs off of my unused account to agree with you on this one.

The criticism Joe takes from our fans alone is tremendous. I'm not highly sensitive to unfavorable opinions or constructive criticism of him either. There is some legitimacy to a variety of different complaints that those who find him less than thrilling, have against him, but the extent of the complaints and the fact that he now seems to be unable to do anything right, or even accidentally be viewed as a major contributing factor to our success as a team is mystifying to me, as well as unsettling and embarrassing.

The man wins. A lot. A whole, whole lot. Two AFCCG appearances in four years? Why is it his fault that we have a stunning defense? Or a solid running game? And Cam. Or a Bipolar disordered offensive line? Joe is a damned good quarter back. When he has time to throw his passes can take your breath away.

His deep ball is wicked and he often hits his recievers right in their hand print. People who call him mediocre and no better than Sanchez cause me to feel like I'm living on an alternate universe because I can not understand why it's so difficult to see the writing on the wall: Give him SOME time in the pocket, catch the ball when he puts it in your hand and we have an elite quarter back.

He has won more than enough games for us. It was not just the defense that brought us to the AFCCG. AGAIN. Their butts got torched plenty this season too and walked off the field with their tails between their legs. Special teams was horrible all year so he's gotta be the best in the league at getting us points after starting at the twenty yd line OR LESS. Pittsburgh drive anyone?

I just felt bad for him this week. He should be able to celebrate last weeks success and his BIRTHDAY and really his success all season, without it all being marred by a bunch of foolishness all the time.

I'm so afraid dude is going to say, "You know what? Screw it. Peace out." We would be losing alot. We as a fan base have some nerve being this picky over a quarterback with a winning record and is a truly character guy after the pieces of crap we've had here in Baltimore.

I would truly be embarrassed to be a Ravens fan if he showed us the door.

Joe please know that you truly do have supporting fans who are in your corner, who wish you tremendous success and are patient enough to allow you to evolve into the elite quarterback that we know you have the potential to be.
