Kruger Should Start This Game

18 posts in this topic

To piggyback on something mentioned in another thread Cody and/or Johnson need to sit and Kruger should play all three downs. The Patriots will run the ball from the spread look a fair number of times but ultimately it is all about Tom Brady. We need pass rushers on the field at all times. I would argue for McPhee to start as well but that might be a bit premature.

However, I want to see Kruger get a full game in where he can start to get into a rythm rushing the passer. We've all seen Kruger win some nice one on one matchups with that spin move. They will be all over Suggs so if Kruger gets more than the usual 10 to 15 snaps I think he could have a huge game.Thoughts?

I like it as well, we don't need to mess with the heavy set packages with Redding on one end and Ngata/Cody/McKinney in the middle.

In my opinion if I was a coach, McKinney wouldn't dress and I would dress Kindle for the pass rush to give Kruger a breather if needed. I think we start this game in the nickel and primarily play some variant of a nickel defense all game long. Play Ngata and Redding/McPhee at DT with Kruger and Suggs on the ends all game, sub Kindle in if Kruger or Suggs can barely move.

This is a great opportunity for Kruger and McPhee as well to get a lot of playtime. It'll be a good chance to see what they do with extended amounts of snaps.

I don't think you'll see anyone disagree that the team needs to be rushing the passer hard against the Patriots, who will live or die by Brady's ability to move the ball with his arm. I agree that Kruger is a good way to do this, but I have to say that Redding has done a respectable job rushing the passer when he's been asked to do so, and splitting time between him and McPhee is a good way to keep both of them fresh and gunning for Brady.

Dress more pass rushers and cb's than usual for this game I like the kindle idea too.

I actually think they'll be dressing more CBs. I hear Carr will be active for this game. Wouldn't be surprised to see Gorrer as well with some of the plays he's been making on ST. I think your bigger DL men will be the odd men out.

In all honesty, if and when Carr comes onto the field, I'm worried. Brady is very good at picking on guys.

Absolutely agree. JJ is not excelling at rushing the passer and I don't feel like the Pats will be running it a lot so we don't need him to set the edge.

Put Kruger in, Bench Cody (run nickle and dime packages with Jimmy and Danny). So pumped for this game!!!!

I also like the idea of Gorrer seeing so PT. He's a diamond in the rough!!! I've liked what I've seem from him given his limited play time.

Haven't heard anything about Chykie Brown, what's his status?

Redding doesn't necessarily need to sit in favor of Kruger, he can play inside too. Would be nice to have Redding, Kruger, Suggs and even McPhee all rushing the passer at once! I love Ngata and JJ but they are better at defending the run than rushing the passer.

Pernell McPhee > Kruger/Johnson. Johnson knows how to stop the run, but in terms of bringing pressure to QB his almost non-existant. That also goes for Kruger.

Kruger's pressure to the QB is non-existant? What? Him and McPhee have both beasted this year.

I agree though. I wouldn't dress the big guys. Have Kindle suit up and have Kruger start. On big blitzes, put in Ngata, Redding, McPhee, Kruger, Kindle, and Suggs in the 4-3. Watch Brady drop like a rock.

I also agree that it would be a good game to start Kruger and activate Kindle. I'm not sure how much I like the idea of activating all the DBs though as we use Nakamura and Zibby in a lot of our dime packages and I don't like the idea of leaving Carr or Chykie Brown out there to be picked on.

I think getting McPhee, and Kruger into sets not normally seen would be great. If Pagano throws some packages the Pats have not seen before (unless Belicheat has the camera set up at practice) with those two in the line up I think they can leave some marks on Ms. Bundchen's delicate little flower.

Last week I saw quite a few plays with Suggs Ngata , McPhee , and Kruger all rushing but they didn't get sacks because Houston was moving the pocket well with play action and rolling outs.
While I do want Kruger to see more action for pass-rushing reasons. JJ knows how to really chip and hold TEs at the line of scrimmage which could mess up timing

Good idea maybe they can suit kindle and Gorrer. And we can rotate pass rushers to keep everyone fresh for the game, because we gonna need the pass rushers on the hunt all game to get brady!
