[Blogs] Comparing Flacco To Remaining Playoff QBs

221 posts in this topic

Joe this is your statement game!! I know their defense is #31 in the league-nowhere near as good as the Texans defense but they are pretty good in the red zone and Bellicheck is the greatest defensive coach of all time especially in the red zone so we NEED touchdowns not field goals and especially no no no no turnovers!! Last week I called out Lardarius and Carey because I knew Andre Johnson is a beast and both of them stepped up bigtime. This week we need #5 to clear his head and play like that 92 yard drive in Pittsburgh especially in the red zone!!

Just think. In ONE game Joe can get everything he and the team want. Respect. Respect for him as a QB, and our team throughout the NFL....Just one game Joe. You can do it. We've seen you play really good. Forget all the stats, just win baby!!

There's an article on nfl.com talking about Reed ripping the O-line's play. Hopefully this will fire them up to play better instead of making them mad. If the WRs can get open and the O-line can block well for Flacco this Sunday then there is no doubt in my mind that he will rip up that secondary. He isn't Brady or Manning but with effort from the rest of the offense he can put up the same kind of numbers and win games. Whether it's pretty or ugly that plus one in the "W" column looks damn good to me.

this is such a pointless article because we dont care about what brady was like when in his first four years. we care about the here and now, and the bottom line is that tom brady is a much better than joe flacco at this point. i'm not saying that joe can't turn into a brady, but on sunday, the better qb will be brady.

I played sports for many years and after hearing Ed reed throwing knives in his teammates back I am stunned . IF he had anything to say that should have been done one on one in the locker room in a team meeting anywhere but on a national broadcast.I seem to recall a certain safety in recent weeks missing tackles and the team rallying around him .wow is all i can say shame on you Ed reed .

I wouldn't go so far as to say knives were thrown ,but I think Reed's comments were inappropriate. I can't imagine how the entire offense feels at this moment. In order to get these two wins we need to play as a team ,,,, :(

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=7467630 Go to the 37 minute mark.... they literally describe our offense. I'm not trying to be negative... I'm just a big Flacco supporter & they pretty much hit the nail on the head about what our problems are. Though I think Joe can have a bad pocket awareness like they said, I think I saw two times where he could have been better. Most of the sacks he had no chance.

I love Flacco, you know that. No discussion to me about his elite status. He is great and he wins.
And besides, he doesn't wear a tutu like Lady Brady.

http://larrybrownsports.com/football/terrell-suggs-defense-joe-flacco-video/111182 This was great of Suggs. I really believe Ed Reed's comments were more slyly directed at Cam Cameron.... though I hate the way he said it... because now the media is eating it up & saying Ed is echoing what they think of Joe. We don't need headline news about Joe's teammates questioning him right before the Championship game.

I did not hear Ed Reed's comments but I'm not surprised they were taken out of context. Maybe in the off season the Ravens organization should include "dealing with the Media" training in their off season activities.

I think Reed should be spending more time watching film of Brady than going on sports talk radio. Maybe then he can contribute more on defense this year other than intercepting a rookie QB.

Reed, you need to step your game up ! Flacco's had more of a hand in winning games this year than you have.

Some people have been saying Flacco's major regression this year is due to the fact that this is because we've played more tougher defenses. I believe it's more due to Cam Cameron's INEPTITUDE which is also contagiously affecting the mindset of our offensive players. But I have to say one thing. If I'm wrong, Cam must be chomping at the bit to rack up yards against the Pats, the SECOND WORSE DEFENSE IN FOOTBALL!!!

@BmoreB: I didn't think that there was anything wrong with Reeds Comments. He said that they all need to play better. Flacco would say that he needs to do a better job this week also. We have many people who come on here and criticize Flacco, I thought he played smart against Houston. We won. Oh by the way; Reed did get that last interception when Jimmy Smith was beat by Andre Johnson. So he did step up.

Thank you raybaby for the link. I listened to the interview and didn't take away that Ray was being critical of Joe. He seemed to be baffled by the playing calling. He did say that Joe needed to play bater next week but he also said everybody has to play better next week. All his comments seemed to be framed around how good New England is.

idk care what anbody else says this proves Joe is a great QB on the rise.. All the stats are saying Joe Flacco has a more promising career. Only thing that Tom Brady had better in his first 4 years was a superbowl ring, but dont let this lead you on because he had a(year=2000 ravens defense) great defense.. Alright not as good but they were still beastly. Not saying are defense the last 4 years and currently arent good but there no where near what they use to be in 2000, nor what the patriots defense was when brady won his first one.

Our Ravenoffencive line was lacking protection on Flaco sunday against the Texans . I hope they improve for sunday so our receivers can shake off their coverage and Flacco can connect. The glory of the game goes to the defence. I must give credit to the texan defence for their consistant attacks on flacco.

I don't wanna be a downer, and I really like Joe and hope he signs a long term contract with us, but you can skew stats to favor someone easily. I think a more "fair" stat would be how all the QB's performed in their first 64 games or whatever, but the games played should be the consistent not the year's because you have a wide range of samples or games. With that said its still pretty cool and hope that Joe becomes as good as Brady (but not as whiny) that would be AWESOME, GO RAVENS!

Well first of all , great job by our team the Ravens on getting the win. what ED said is the truth. All OF IT! For the Ravens to win in New England, the Offense really have to play better. please don't think as a flacco or Rice fan, think as a Ravens FAN.
GO Relentless!!!!! Hunt,Hunt,Hunt... Don't stop Hunting until you Mount it on the WALL.

I like Flacco, but the fact is he was simply the starting quarterback of the 64 games which were played by, and the majority won by the entire RAVENS team! To give Flacco accolades for this is RIDICULOUS!

So to put up these numbers Joe played the Pittsburgh Steelers 8 times, the Cincinnatti Bengals will JJ and Hall 6 times plus 2 more witnout JJ, Houston once with JJ, the Tennesse Titians his first year in the league when they were like top 5 in defense ... I really do wish Mink would come out with a comparison that could scale this in terms of the opposing defenses each has had to face. Maybe a question for the Flock Mailbag?

Agreed! The Ravens Defense has won a lot of games for Joe.

Waka Flocka Flacco, good point. In this case Flacco have the edge on TD's because he played more games. But other stats in his favor. I mean, he played more games and managed to keep higher average yards per game and QB rating. Thats awesome.

I agree that what Ed said was the truth and i get how Joe and the o line might be angry because he said it but do we really need to be doing this right now we have one big hurdle to get over this weekend . Brady isn't a rookie they beat us damn near every time we go up there save one time. This is a huge distraction and not one any of the players need right now and the press is having a field day with this.
