[Blogs] Comparing Flacco To Remaining Playoff QBs

221 posts in this topic

funny but true: Stop comparing Flacco to Brady before Brady get mad and burn our butts up. Give us momentum without making a real elite QB mad, let Suggs do that, thank you very much.

Was Brady thinking about a superbowl when he beat the Broncos, no he was thinking about Tebow-mania. We don't want Brady thinking about Flacco, let him think about Suggs.

"I bet if the Ravens win and Flacco is the reason why all the Flacco haters will start saying they always beleived in him."

This is such crap it's not like we all don't want him to do well. Sometimes after hearing him talk and seeing him play I wonder if he is smart enough to play the position. Just today Ed Reed has an article posted on Profootballtalk where he calls out a few key components of our offense, Joe and the line, in not so many words he said that Joe needs to take the offense in his hands and score instead of running a set game plan and plays that Cam hands him. After feeling this myself for a while and now having Reed back it up I'm fearful that it's true that Joe either can't physically, mentally or is too much of a giant V to take the game into his hands.

This doesn't mean I don't want him to or wouldn't be the happiest man alive if he did, I'm just objectively looking and it doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

This is what I have been saying to everyone. I've been saying he needs to step up in the playoffs because he already has the numbers to back up what all the other great QBs did in their first years. He made strives last year in the playoffs and I have all the confidence he's going to make even more strives this year. BUT the whole offense needs play well also though. They need to help their QB out! It will take the whole offense to win not just Joe. They need step up WITH him.

The Pattriots have one of the worst defenses in the Playoffs vs the pass and run so anything can happen and all the anylast where praising the Patriots D for stopping Tebow which isnt a big deal

I think Flacco is a great quarterback, but this statistic means NOTHING! He was simply the starting quarterback on the Raven's TEAM that won those games! (The majority of these wins MUST be attributed to the Raven's DEFENSE!)Probably the same can be said for Ray Rice being the winningness 4th year running back in NFL history!

Last year in the playoffs it didnt help that Houshmandzadeh didnt make that catch on 4th down that Flacco put right in between numbers

The "experts" at NFL.com just put out an article, "Smith vs. Flacco", on the website, and without going into too much detail, Joe has been totally trashed. This is one of the BIGGEST reasons he and the Ravens need to win this Sunday. I'm so tired of reading all this garbage!!

"I think Joe was kind of rattled a little bit by that defense," Reed said. “They had a lot of guys in the box on him. And, I mean, they were getting to him. I think a couple times he needed to get rid of the ball. I don't know how much of the play calling, he could have made audibles or anything like that, checks or whatnot, man, but it just didn't look like he had a hold on the offense, you know, of times past. You know, it was just kind of like they was telling him to do, throw the ball or get it here, you know, get it to certain guys. And he can't play like that.
You know, one particular play that sticks out to me is when Ray Rice came out of the backfield, he got pushed down and [Flacco] still threw him the ball and you got one-on-one with Torrey Smith on the outside. But it's hearsay for me. I can say that sitting on the sidelines, you know, or sitting in the stands. You just never know what somebody else is seeing.

Reed said the same thing I've been saying for the longest time, I guess I wasn't the only one who noticed. The actuality of it is that we want you to play better.

Rice said it perfectly, If we lose it's a failure, if the Texans lose they'll be patted on the back for making it.
All the Ravens ever needed was a QB that could take us there and play with fire. Do that for us or all the Ravens will need is a QB that can take us there and win, let that be you. Go Ravens!!!!!!!

In last years' playoff against the Steelers, Boldin dropped one as well as Houshmandzadeh. There were dropped passes on Sunday as well as the whole season.

You're right @mark0408. It's all about individual match ups and this year we put people in place to beat the squeelers and we did that pretty thoroughly.
It would stand to reason that we would have the right personnel to beat them.
I hope you're right!
GO RAVENS!!!

Flacco will only get better and better, it is only his forth year! People forget that, the game will get even slower for him in the next couple of years. Remember he is still learning the QB position. Skip Brainless can say what he wants, his bi'[profanity deleted]'ness dictates his comments.

Im just saying but Tom Brady has never thrown for 300 yards or for 3 touchdowns in a game vs the Ravens he has thrown more INTs vs the Ravens than TDs.

Joe this is your time to step up. Stop complaining about getting respect and go earn it. Everyone is saying Alex Smith is better than you. Show them what your capable of. Prove everyone wrong. No one believed in Trent Dilfer and no one believes in you except a few people. Go out and win the game against the patriots. The rest will take care of itself. Go Ravens.

@Q81 - I agree with some of what you said except, Joe did not complain. Listen to the whole story. He just answered a question. Also, there are more than a " few" fans that believe in Joe. Those of us that believe in Joe agree that he is still in his 4th year, and he'll only get better.

Yeah, this reminds me of San Deigo tossing Brees on the trash heap because he wasnt a "franchise" QB. A Little flavor from the past...

Flacco is made for the AFC North. A guy like Brady wouldnt make it in this division! Without a run game and a strong defence "Marsha" Brady would have a lot less rings. GO RAVENS!!!!

All this Flacco talk in the media is just a mind game on Joe.

They want him to doubt himself and thus be too cautious. They don't want him taking risk and there by holding the ball too long. If they can make him gun shy, they can then focus on Ray Rice.

I hope Joe Flacco is blowing this stuff off. It is really unimportant, he is a great QB and the fans know it.

I would like to see him turn off this noise and use his instincts to play Raven style football. If he does, then we will be the AFC Champs.

GO Flacco, GO RAVENS!

So when was the last time stats got a team to the super bowl? Yeah stats are great and could ring very true (Texans 0-6 against the Ravens all time) but if you want to look at stats, look at the Ravens all time record against the Pats! For once in my life I HATE these damn stats!

Joe STILL has to prove his worth in the playoffs, and get these damn STATS off his back!!! And his worth is obviously getting us to thte super bowl, four straight seasons in the playoffs is a HUGE feat in this league, and we are very lucky to have a team that can compete at the highest level season in and season out, but this game right here is our damn super bowl IMO!!

The whole Flacco over analyzing thing is quite freaking ridiculous at this point.

Bottom line, he's a winner, he's a Raven and he's good guy.

P.S. He's also one game away from the Superbowl, for the second time in two years to boot !

Time to step up Joe. The stage is set, run the table that will shut your critics up. Joe needs just a little r.e.s.p.e.c.t.

that is very reassuring to be honest... Flacco has faced some real competition i mean the AFC N had the most teams in the Playoffs with the highest winning record... I am fully confident Flacco could pick apart the patriots this weekend... he knows he has to, he's just as tired if not more tired of hearing all these twitches talking crapp about him... Brady didnt face any worthy team this year and won.. he lost to the only teams with winning records so he really has had it easy all season long... time to punch him in the face...

This confirms to me that Joe is the best thing going for the Ravens. Discount Double Check and No Brees are sitting this weekend. Joe is still playing because this is a "team" sport. The Ravens are in the AFC Championship because of all the players.

One point though -- Joe is a tough man. He gets hit, gets up and doesn't complain or whine. Watch what happens when Brady Uggs gets hit by Suggs and he starts bawling to the refs, and watch how he lays down rather than get hit.

I'll take Joe over Brady anyday for the Ravens.
