[Blogs] Comparing Flacco To Remaining Playoff QBs

221 posts in this topic

The chart should have been done for the first 64 starts of their career. Stats are misleading at best. Steve Young who worked with Joe Montana for years before he took over had a much better shot at success than Joe Flacco who was thrown into the fire as a rookie. I think THAT shows more truth about how good Joe really is. The Ravens didn't skip a beat.

Let me tell people why everybody come down on Joe, It's nothing personally or disliking him. Everybody saw him fail in the 3 years worth of playoffs, yeah the team got there but they saw him fail at QB there. That sums it up why they waiting for him to prove himself.

Us fans know he's a good QB but the rest of the world are waiting for him to not fail us when it matters. I think he is mentally ready for the challenge now so let's get it and be the only happy fans during the offseason.

Shannon Sharp want to see Joe win so he can brag all next year about the Ravens, good thing.
Deion want to see Ray Lewis win.
Lets get it.
[/quote]

I will go back to a post from last season that I posted.... Did Joe fumble the ball in the 3rd quarter? No, Ray Rice did... Did Joe drop the ball in the endzone for the TD? No, Anquan Boldin did... Did Joe Drop the pass in the 19 yard 3rd down play? No Housh did... Joe did not lose that playoff game last year against the Steelers.... You're not going to convince me that the loss in Pittsburgh was on him... EVER!... You can't say that Joe has caused our problems in the postseason.

The stat that they didn't include is times sacked. and fumbles... Or the fact that Manning and Brady were hitting their stride in their 4th year, while Flacco hasn't shown much improvement from his 3rd to 4th year. We should focus less on Joe, and more on the young guys we have who are stepping up, and turning into great players. Webb, McPhee, Rice, Yanda, Grubbs, Torrey Smith, Pitta, Dickson, and the no Brainer...Sizzle

@BETH NICKLES
No one trying to convince you about anything. 3 turnovers 2nd half, 1 was Rice 2 was Joe. Like I said they saw Joe fail regardless of the other aspects of our lost he didn't see #43 right at the line. He fixed that this year but that turned the tables.

I remember Mark Clayton dropping one that was right in his hands ending one of Joe's game winning drives. Bottom line when you win you win as a team and vice versa. Right on Beth.

On the one hand, comparing what Brady has done in his first four years as opposed to what Flacco has done in his first four years and making it relevant to this game on Sunday seems a bit much ... seeing as during this game on Sunday Brady will have more than those four years of both experience and ability, as well as a different personnel, than he will have on Sunday.

That said, on the other hand, trying to predict a game by merely comparing two players is not a fair assessment of a team. That's why it is a team game, especially where there are ten other men on the field at the same time. And to be honest, I do believe that overall, we do have the better team.

If games were played on paper and based off of statistics, there would be no need to play them. But that is why the games are played - because in the end, ability can only get you so far, it's the drive and will that counts. That's how you get 80 yard TD passes on the first play of overtime (excluding divine intervention, no offense intended). So, in conclusion, games like these will come down to who wants it more, and that always becomes evident on Gameday

Joe just deliver the performance we know you can and all this stuff goes away. Two more games could shut all the garbage up and we can all move on to contracts and other stuff.

Joe is a top flight QB in this league, all the Joe haters should be happy with the success and the progression (which is comparable to Brady over first 4 years) and be glad we are not saddled with a truely stellar QB like Grossman, or Delhomme... Count your blessings people... Joe is top flight...

Flacco had a whole new receiving core this year you all talk like it can take one game to get in sync i mean look at last year the Ravens had Mason and Heap and they cut them right when the lock out ended which took away players that Flacco knew for years and he could trust throwing to you just cant bring in a player and expect Flacco to automatically be in sync with them.

Flacco is a good qb. four years in and he has played in the playoffs each year.however the reality is flacco is a younger trent dilfer. "what the hell?", I know flacco manages the game. Flacco doesn't carry the team like he can as he did against pittsburgh with last minute drives. flacco for the most part looks confined, tied down or immobile. Until flacco can extend the play he will never be consider an elite qb. but as long as he is winning i don't need him to be.

We have the talent at all positions. Everyone on our team is a star, really!
It's a matter of match ups on every down. We're not the only ones who draft star players. That's what the business is when it comes down to it.
I agree with you @RavenousD
Brady isn't in his 4th year so these stats don't mean much for this game but it does let you know that Joe is pretty good despite what others may think.
Lets win a Super Bowl and see if that helps kick his fame up a notch! :-)

Flacco has NOT won more games than any starting quarterback in modern history in his first four years... He was simply the starting quarterback in the games in which the RAVENS won during those four years.

I've been hard on this guy. And sometimes I've been justified. However, he's unfairly criticized way too much. I can only think of a few reasons for this: 1) He plays for the Baltimore Ravens. So it doesn't matter what he does. 2) He doesn't give the media what they want - a fake smile, cliche comments after every game, and lacks charisma on the field of play. 3) He's not flashy and/or self centered.

All of the above means absolutely NOTHING. Winning is what matters!

I can't promise that I won't criticize him. It's my right as a fan (paying customer) to do so. But I will show more support and lay off of him. The dude truly is a great QB. (Yesterday I said that he won't be elite, but I take that back...he will be.) I'm confident that we will win the SB with Joe Flacco at the helm. Whether that's this year, or the following years...it's going to happen.

Take care of business against the over hyped, overrated team that is the New England Patriots. And screw what the media thinks. Last time I checked, they don't decide the outcome of a game. Just ask the Steelers.

DESTROY THOSE PANSIES!!!

If the Steelers can beat the Patriots and the Ravens can beat the Steelers that means the Ravens can very well beat the Patriots

Really good QB, we are lucky to have him. He is still maturing but has exceeded anyone we have had in the past!!!! This week is the definning moment of a players career how he responds to the big stage. Flacco can help himself by changing the snap count up often to draw defenses off sides, last week the pass rush slash run blitz could have been slowed by trying to draw Houston off sides. Please Joe change the snap count (Love Ya Dude)! Coach Cam, Please use our 2 Tightend set formation! No one can stop that, with playaction (Love Ya Dude)!!! Coach Cam, Please use no huddle offense too tire their defense some! I love the job our team has done this year, we are with you guys all the way!!!

Go Ravens!!!!!

Hey I like Flacco, he is our QB. But the only thing I dont get is that we cant win unless Rice touch the ball atleast 20 times, cant say the same about Brady so to compare them is to be idiotic.

The Ravens can beat any team, especially good teams.

blah blah blah brady's not in his first four years anymore let's focus on relevant details like how to stop their offense and get more offense going than we did on sunday... It was so clutch for reed, lewis, and webb to come up with those critical stops and take aways. Let's not forget our passing game and running game were both topped by the texans with their rookie qb we have to get better or at least sustain drives so our D can get some oxygen. I just don't want to be where Green Bay is at now... looking back thinking [profanity deleted]...

I'm sick and tired of hearing about tom brady and the patts. They have'nt beat a team with a winning record all season. They had three losses this season, to teams that had winning records. With that being said the ravens will be the next team to face brady with a winning record, you do the math.Flacco is going to light that back half up and ray rice will take over the game late.OVER AND LADY BRADY OUT. GO RAVENS....... Flacco shut these critics up

There are so many factors that contribute to whether your a good QB or not that if you traded Flacco for Brady, Flacco might have Brady's stats and vice versa. Its a team effort, so be happy our team is only one game away from the superbowl.

As this article proves, look at statistics and Flacco's first 4 years can compete with anybody. Look at wins, and Flacco's first 4 years exceed everybody. Anyway you slice it, no matter what espn and nfl network say, this guy is developing (not quite there yet) into a great, "elite" if you will, quarterback. No matter what happens in New England I believe in Cool Joe. But that being said, go punch em in the mouth Sunday Joe!

Hey "Lee is in the house!" Are you kidding us? It doesn't go that way. Whatever the wins the Ravens have since Joe Flacco came here are the wins that Joe has as a starting quarterback. Wins don't get taken away because you are not an elite quarterback. You must be from Pittsburgh.

Most of you dont even sound like Raven fans even though the Ravens made the playoffs you still compain about Flacco you just have to deal with it he is the starting QB unless he gets injured
