MERGED: Ed Reed Comments On Flacco

345 posts in this topic

Reed told it how it really is, plain and simple. He just spoke the truth about Flacco and in my opnion Reed was generous; Reed knows the guy is mediocore at best, and could have been way more critical.

See, this is how the utterly pathetic media now-a-days survives.

You actually believe the complete, unfounded, crap they spew all the time.

You're a Flacco hater, so you're going to TRY and trash Joe at every opportunity.

Unfortunately, most of us know sports media is complete crap and laugh at the rubbish these "reporters " come out with all the time.

I do think its funny that people are saying Reed doesn't know what he talking about when this guy watches more QB film than all of combined, times 100, plus infinity. I will say Joe isn't the type to get sad and play horribly be being called out, I think it will be the fire under his butt that we need to beat Team Uggs.

I am not a Flacco hater !

I am an informed, educated, realistic sports enthusiast. Not some loudmouth wearing purple colored glasses.

I am not saying your a loudmouth, but rather refering to the general Ravens fanbase, and the Glasses are a metaphor for viewing everything in a Ravencentric manner.

Then you should know that 99.9% of what these sports media outlets "publish" is complete garbage and taken totally out of context.

I really don't see the Patriots sacking Joe 5 times. We will pass and run the ball much better on their shoddy defense than we did on that all-star squad from Texas. We will score 30 points. The only questions will be: (1) Can we stop Welker and the TEs from scoring?; (2) Can we apply pressure to Brady to force him to throw the ball before his receivers get open?; (3) Can we score more than the Patriots? Two out of three questions concern the defense. If we get a lead early and control the ball without turning it over, then we will win the game. If not, then we will all be on here screaming for Cameron to get fired on Sunday night.

But you claim that Flacco "is mediocre, at best".

Ironic...

I realize that what was published was only an excerpt of Reed's comments; however, fact remains that Reed knows better than any person on here what Flacco brings to the table, (or lack there of) and he could have been much more critical.

+1 I think our offense will go out there and have a good game. However, they will have to have a very good game and make every opportunity count. The defense has to play well, plain and simple. Give our offense a chance to do enough to win through 4 quarters.

Yeah I'm the only one who thinks that, do you ever talk to people outside the Ravens fanbase? Go to New York or Philly or DC and talk to fans of different teams, with no affilication or bias towards the Ravens what they think of Falcco. YOU would be amazed because no one outside the Baltimore area would ever call him good.

He wasn't even criticizing Flacco. That's just what they (media) have INTERPRETED from his comments.

Read the ENTIRE quote and you'll see that it's a shot at Cam and the offense on the whole, not on Flacco. That wouldn't get the sort of hits the media want, though.

You mean loud-mouth uninformed fans?

Washington fans from the modern era haven't even had a below average QB. How would they be able to tell you what a good QB looks like?

Maybe you need to read the ENTIRE quote, Its a shot at both the offense coaching staff and Flacco.

Bahahahahaha.

I interpret that as a personal attack and, since interpretations are apparently all that matters...

Oh, I've been playing since I was 11 and have already qualified as an offensive coordinator, too.

I love how ESPN cut out the part of Ed's quote where he said "It's like he's being told to throw at one target" (not exact quote but it was like that). I see it as more of a dig at Cam than Joe.
I think ESPN and others are quote mining Reed, cutting and pasting certain things such as only the comments about Joe Flacco, to make it look like he is solely coming down hard on Flacco. But if you listen to the whole thing he pretty much says the whole team needs to improve when they play on sunday. The media is just disgusting. I really hope this crap doesn't not disrupt the team. Gotta focus on beating those Pats.

Maybe they will get Gabbert in the draft. I heard that they once had 2 pretty good ones-Sammy Baugh and Sonny Jurgensen.

I learned at an early age that you don't motivate people to do better by constantly praising them. Instead, you tactfully point out their faults and offer suggestions how to improve upon them. Joe is doing pretty well for a 4th year QB. We are in the playoffs again and will possibly be in the Super Bowl this year. I don't think that you can call that a disappointing season. Maybe, he will use this as a motivator to go up to NE and rip their defense apart.

Actually I lived in DC for 5 years, and moved to Philly recently. Everyone in DC wanted Flacco last year - they were like "If we had him we'd have won the division this year." Totally serious here, they believed, at least then, that Flacco was a better quarterback than Eli Manning or Michael Vick, and this is a lot of people I knew in DC. And there have been a ton of radio stations in Philly where I live that have made the following statement "Look at the Ravens' quarterback. He's not flashy like Vick, but he's tough, makes plays, and wins games." I'm just reporting to you what I here on the radio stations every day on my way to class.

The way Joe responded today makes me think he was a little offended by what Ed said.

“No. When I first saw it, I was probably like, 'What's going on?'”

“But we talked about it. We're a team around here. It's not really that big of an issue. I don't really take things that bad. It's Ed. It is what it is.”

Not this week. And they rarely mention Flacco in the context of the Ravens. It's more like "Look the Eagles suck, Vick sucks, blah blah blah." Then they start listing teams and quarterbacks who are doing well, so you here the usual Rodgers, Brady, Brees, etc., but I have heard some people call in and discuss both Eli and Flacco this season. It's all about "Eli has grown up". With Flacco, like I said, they say "well, he's a game manager, but he can make plays, and he rarely makes mistakes or blames his teammates". Haven't been listening this week so I don't know what they've made of his comments last week, but for the most part when they bring him up, they're like "he's pretty good". I'm sure this week they've changed tunes now that they're picking games, but it's to be expected I guess. They have to pick a winner, and like it or not, Flacco's play is going to be huge in determining the outcome of this game.
