So I've only read the first few pages but I'm pretty sure anyone with 'Ed', 'Reed', '20' or any sort of mixture of those in their username should quietly bow out of this conversation.

I don't care if Ed was the greatest safety, corner, wideout, quarterback and running back all rolled into one and single handedly scored 2340324 touchdowns a game....NOBODY is bigger than the team. That's the thing I loved about Harbs when he first got here four years ago is that he preached that over and over again. NOBODY should be going to the media and saying anything even remotely close to criticism of another player. 'Hey Ed, what'd you think of Joe's performance last night?,'. 'He's our quarterback, and did very well under all that pressure from the Texans' D. Next question!,'. BING BONG, DONE. That's all he had to say. If he had a problem with Joe, I'm quite sure there was plenty of time to hook up with Joe, Cam and John later on to discuss something he saw (and being Ed, his input would always be valued). There was no reason to say anything close to what he did and I don't care if he tried to soften it up at the end there, it just should've never come out of his mouth.

I know Joe's a big boy, and I know he's got a thick skin....as a QB you have to. You have to think of it this way though: what's worse, getting into an argument with your significant other in the privacy of your own home or getting into one at the grocery store? No matter if the argument is over a pint of milk or the entire cow, the argument is always gonna be way less damaging if you do it under your own roof than if you're out where everyone can see it. This is the same thing. I know they're brothers, I know they're family..but family would never speak out against their own nationally. Ed knows better, and I'm severely disappointed in him.

You can neg me all you want, but at least respond to what I wrote.
I shouldn't comment on this issue because of my username? Just stop.

Trust me, even when it comes to Ed, I can be objective. He's hurt the team at various times during his career with his freelancing and he's made some questionable comments to the media in the past. But on this matter, I just don't see what he said that was so negative.

He could have easily gone the politically correct route. But I'm not going to bash him for speaking his mind.

You claim Harbaugh has preached not to say anything "remotely negative about any player". When? I clearly remember him making comments to Ed's about what Joe saw and didn't see on the field after the Chargers game.

To me, there's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, even from a teammate in public.

Skip Bayless was on 105.7 the Fan. Even he said he thought Flacco played well vs. Houston, and he thought the timing of Reed's comments were insane, and that Flacco doesn't need the added pressure. Can't believe I agreed with him on something.
When I saw him say this on first take I almost fainted. Of course, after the fact he said he still wants to get Suggs to admit that he and the rest of the team don't believe in Flacco. But honestly, I think Bayless thinks more of Flacco than he likes to let on, or at least thinks of him as an okay quarterback, just an easy target to rant on, just like LeBron James.

No reason to be concerned about this. I knew when I first read it that it was taken out of context and was most likely not as critical as it may have seemed.

This Team is a tight knit group and I'm sure there are no hard feelings on Joe's part.

you speak the truth sir.

I know it's Jamison Hensley but some interesting quotes from Ed Reed. I still think it was poorly timed and can't tell if he's just saying this to cover himself or he really is trying to motivate the offense

Reed is a great player but not always the best speaker. I'm not worried. These guys have all addressed it amongst themselves and that's all that really needs to be done anyway.

Does anyone think ed already said something in the locker room and it didn't do any good. It's about time someone spoke up about what we all know.

I have no doubt that this has took place along with other things. If Ed feels this way, I'm sure Ray, Suggs, Ngata, etc..... feel the same way. Flacco goes up against one of the best D's in the league in practice as well as facing Top 10 D's like 11 times this year, he should be ready for whatever, if he's not battle tested right now, he neva will be.

i didn't have a problem with what ed said. here's why:

-ed stated that joe looked rattled...then he said why....because the defense had a lot of guys in the box in his face and getting to him - that was true! the o-line folded like a deck of cards nearly the entire game

-ed stated that he thought joe could've got rid of the ball - joe did hold the ball too long in the pocket at times

-ed stated that he didn't know how much of the play calling that joe could've audibled into or anything or checks - we already know how cam feels about audibling-it's overated

-ed stated that it didn't look like he (joe) had a hold on the offense of times past....then he said why not...it was kinda like "they" (cam) were telling him to throw the ball to certain guys - we all know that cam plays ultra conservative and limits joe

-ed then said..."he (joe) can't play like that!" - that's true! flacco has to be unleashed to step into his full potential as a qb

imo...Ed was pretty much saying that flacco's hands were tied in that game vs the texans and now that the Ravens have advanced to the AFCCG....flacco has to be allowed to spread his wings. to me....Ed was "indirectly" calling out Cam Cameron!!

Yeah I'm the only one who thinks that, do you ever talk to people outside the Ravens fanbase? Go to New York or Philly or DC and talk to fans of different teams, with no affilication or bias towards the Ravens what they think of Falcco. YOU would be amazed because no one outside the Baltimore area would ever call him good.
How many times do we play teams from these areas? Maybe 1 time a year? So yea the fans are uninformed because they get to watch ESPN and hear what Joe Flacco did not really watch the games.

Hmm..well now...it is beyond apparent that you did not actually view the presser that those comments were "chopped" from. It's not too hard, it's here on the site.

He began by saying he needed to play better. That they ALL needed to play better.

When asked if Flacco and the offense could keep pace with the Patriots and Brady...

he answered absolutely.

Sorry, your point isn't proven because once again the media has taken some words out of context and put their little spin on it.

And I don't know how you don't get it was more about Joe being handcuffed from even what they did pull...

"It was like he didn't have control of the offense. (coaches) were telling him what to do, who to get the ball to. He can't play like that."
In the presser body language tells it all. I could care less how they try to sugar coat it. It was said, and he meant it at the time. Joe looked rattled. That is the worst thing you can say about a guy that is suppose to be the most composed person on the offense. We all have seen this all year i still don't know why this is new to anyone.

Exactly. Why these Flacco haters CHOOSE TO IGNORE THAT is beyond me.
(Well, that's not true -- I do know why that part, but I wont state the obvious)
Ed said it, and now the damage control has to take place.
What is the obvious reason that we are supposed to hate Flacco?
None of us hate him he just has not played well this year.
Why are we Haters for stating the obvious?
Ed seems to agree.

Body language? Presser? Ed Reed? He did a radio interview and, to my knowledge, had no camera on him. It's becoming apparent that you haven't even listened to the thing.

No it is not on every post i have said that he has played average this year. That is an honest critique. Then the supporters start with their so called facts and the conversation gets lost, one thing leads to another and then you find yourself talking about Eli and the NFC east(wink, wink). Im tired of the Flacco hater Flacco supporter tags that we have given one another. I am going to gracefully bow out of this debate saying "I hope Flacco plays well this Sunday, and in FEB, and we win a Super Bowl. We can talk about his shortcomings after the season. Go Ravens!!!!!!!!

LOL or maybe he means the presser after the game, in which Ed doesn't mention Flacco and only says the D is the 'big brother' and that they knew the O would make their plays, eventually.

Completely justified. But like i said on another post im done, you and the others can try to justify your arguments to Alexir and Wizard one. I will wait until the end of the season to comment on Joe's play again.

Which is more than obvious. Play better does not happen in a game. It happens over the course of a year. Do you think this guy makes this comment after one bad game. Because history would suggest this to be false.

RBates is a loon but I agree with him in that I don't buy Ed's motivation excuse.

That said, analysts without their usual Flacco hating agenda have pointed out that the receivers and the line were the cental reasons for the offense's struggles, not Flacco. I am not even a huge Flacco fan, but this criticism would've made more sense after the Jets game. In this case, it's not warranted. Not from the media, not from Ed Reed. In the words of Greg Cosell, Ed Reed should keep his mouth shut.

I read your post and I understood it.

At this point, arguing about the comments is pointless. Ed could have said nothing when he was asked about Joe's performance. He didn't. Some have a problem with it; others don't. From what the players have said since his comments, I'd say they've moved on within the locker. Might as well do the same.
