Just Wondering...Ngata, Cody & McPhee Not On The Field

8 posts in this topic

on Webb's 1st interception (which came on a texans 1st & 10), i noticed that Ngata, Cody and McPhee were not on the field...they were on the sideline where Webb got the pick cheering. lol! and even though Webb got the pick...if you look at the replay...there was no pressure (especially up the middle) whatsever. why were these mammoths on the sideline? just wondering...

No idea. Pagano had McKinney and Jones at the DTs, so maybe Ngata and Cody were gassed.

McPhee's snaps seem to be pretty sporadic even though he's been the team's most efficient pass rusher.

Passing down, guess we elected to go with more of a speed pass rush or more guys in coverage?

I thought it was funny that Cam Cameron was one of the first people to congratulate webby

gassed? on a 1st & 10? hmm...i need to go back and see how many plays the texans ran before that Webb pic.

My guess is that it's simply part of the rotation Pagano operates with. Considering how many times the offense went 3 and out (7 times I think it was) alone, I wouldn't be surprised if Cody and Ngata needed breaks. Cody especially got tired late in the game and was getting pushed around.

On AFC Notebook last week they talked about just this topic. Pagano has a two group, 3-man rotation to keep the guys fresh (works better when the offense doesn't go 3 and out 4 times in a row).
