Reasons The Ravens Will Beat Patriots

174 posts in this topic

Ravens will win 28-27 or 31-28 because we have a much more balanced and better team. If we follow Pittsburgh's formula for beating them, we can control time of possession by protecting the football and running it down their throats. The offense must remember that "Pigs get fat but hogs get slaughtered. Don't be greedy. Take what the defense will give ya." A few well-timed shots down the field are fine but will only result in costly turnovers if used excessively or at the wrong time.

I think one part of the game that's been overlooked is Patriots' quick-timing offense. They like to go no-huddle and keep the defense on its heels, which plays directly into our time-of-possession gameplan. In all likeliness the Patriots defense will be worn out throughout the 4th quarter provided we have some success running the ball. Combine that with a defense that rarely gives up TDs in the 4th and you got yourself a winning formula.

I'm not buying into the media or anything, but I'm honestly quite nervous about this game. I'm going to be so upset if we lose, even though I'm already leaning towards that outcome. I'm not trying to sound like a debbie downer or anything, but I've just seen so many Pats games this year, and when they lost, it's not because they played like crap-the other team just played that much better. This game honestly has to be a punch for punch game. Whenever they score, we have to score the same amount of points on the following drive. I'm not sure if our offense is capable of this, sadly. I really hope I am proven wrong. Cam Cameron really needs to let Joe make his reads and really spark a fire under Flacco by not calling stupid play sets.

It's been the opposite for me. The closer we get, the more my confidence grows in our boys!

I know. I was just telling my friends that I'd rather just fast forward to feeling upset after the game than having to deal with 2 more days of nervousness.

It did. Andre was having a renaissance year. He was leading the team in sacks. Mark Anderson has been playing very well for them with double digit sacks on the year. The Pats also have the juicer Brandon Spikes back after he missed a 7 game stretch with an injury. Though he didn't add much in terms of a pass rush.
I couldn't help myself. Spikes really doesn't factor into the Pats pass rush much. In fact he's off the field most passing downs. HOWEVER he did manage to have one more sack last week than Suggs did. :D

the Ravens will win because no one is giving them a chance! it seems like all of the sports analysts and media personel are looking right past the Ravens and have already crowned the patriots as the AFC Champs and the Super Bowl winners.

there is no pressure on the Ravens (from the media) to win this game...they can just go out and ball so hard to a victory!! LOL!!

The Patriots aren't a "World Class" offense, they're a world class passing attack. BIG difference.

The Ravens have a "world class "defense and running game. Our zone blocking scheme will give the Pats problems, this takes BIg Vince out of the game.... He's a heck of a player but will be worn out by halftime. He's the best defensive Player on the team, followed by Mayo, and then Spikes. Vince is going to get cut down just like Casey Hampton did. If Rice goes for over 125 and Flacco throws zero, or on pick, the Ravens win.

AND our passing game is fine if given the chance and with good O line play. Not the best, but good enough to keep 'em honest and score some points.

.... have the Patriots beaten this year, that makes the whole world think that the Pats will wipe the floor with the Ravens? Seriously. I see two tought games on their schedule, the Steelers and Giants, and they got beat by both. That 13-3 record is great and all, how many of those 13 wins came against a team with a winning record? ZERO. I know they beat the Broncos, a "playoff" team, but that's only because one of those 4 teams HAD to win their division. Just sayin'.

As long as the Patty-cakes have Brady at QB the national media will be in love with them. Baltimore has the more balanced team, a great defense and running game and a very competent QB in Flacco. The defense will pressure Brady and take away the explosive plays that the Pats offense is built around, the offense will play ball-control, Ravens offense to keep the defense rested and Brady off the field. Joe will convert passes on 3rd down, Ray Rice and Ricky will churn out yards on the ground, and the Ravens will stun the nation with a victory over the Pats. And the media will still not recognize Flacco as a legitimate QB.

That's a different scenario, we aren't asking how many strong defenses they have faced, we are asking if they have beaten any playoff teams and the answer is no (Other than the Broncos which isn't very impressive). How many playoff teams have the Ravens played? I'm sure everyone here knows the answer is 7, and we beat all 7 including the 49er's who are the Superbowl favorites for the NFC. I understand the Patriots being the favorites given home-field advantage, but I think it's outrageous the way the media makes it seem like the Ravens already played and lost.

-Go RAVENS!!! JUST WIN BABY and don't stop until we bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Baltimore!!!!

It doesn't matter come Sunday. Our record and the teams we've beaten are irrelevant, likewise for the Pats.
This^. Any given Sunday. Both teams have had impressive victories, both teams have been made to look pretty bad. It comes down to who executes their gameplans better.

The Patriots defense is the reason why we're going to win this game, it's no secret their linebackers and secondary are among the worst in the league this season.

The Pats played two teams all season with wining records and lost to both of them(Steelers and Giants). Sure, we lost to four team with losing records, but we beat every team we faced with winning records, and we beat three of the teams that made it othe playoffs twice this seasion, "Steelers, Texans and Bengals". We also beat the 49ers. The media thinks the Ravens can't stop the Pat's weapons, yeah right. The Steelers and the Gaints did it, and their teams are designed just like ours as a defense first team.

Well if anyone's worried about Gronk and Hernandez, we apparently gave up the 3rd fewest yards to TEs this year and "They’ve been particularly stingy to tight ends lining up as wide receivers -- only 199 of the 677 yards allowed were to tight ends splitting to the outside" (ESPN). I think the best TE we played was Gates and we held him to two catches for 31 yards - his worst game of the year (that he played in). Part of the reason is teams need to pull their TEs in to block against our pass rush. If New England wants to do that and rely on Welker somehow getting open against Webb, it's gonna be a long day for them.
