Lol i figured id draw you in . Very good point. I definitely like Joe's chances against their defense, compared to Brady against ours. Joe was able to drive the ball down the field somewhat easily even when we had Heap, mason, and clayton (sigh @ that 4th down drop clayton), and even last year Joe did great the whole game... until Bill brought in the extra LB and it was game over. My key stat... simple as it may be..... NE hasnt beat a team with a winning record ALL year, ... I dont count the broncos last week. We have played 8 out of the top 10 defenses this year. and beat them all, we play up to our competition.

On top of that, we have had"decent" success against the Pats D in the past... we actually have some playmakers this year, and can put Boldin in the slot.

I'm pretty sure Brady has the worst rating against us of all teams. This considering we only played him once before he started putting up great numbers ('04) and not at all in our two best recent defensive years ('06 and '11). From what I was able to gather, he is 4-1 against us, but posted above a 75 QB rating only once. That's why we as Ravens fans have to take the whole "Brady is on fire" thing with a grain of salt. Let's see how he does against the D that gives him the most trouble.

I agree, and if they try to spread us out, 2 things bode well in our favor,

1. we are MUCH deeper at CB than we have ever been, even down to Gorrer
2. if they spread us out, Sizzle will have a huge game without the extra blockers.

I was wondering if they're going to bother chipping Suggs with the TEs. Teams have been doing that to slow him down, but in New England's TE-centric offense, would they not want to intentionally slow down their own TE routes? If the "chipping" thing doesn't bode well for their style of offense, Suggs could go off big on Sunday.
The Ravens are definitely the best team the Pats have faced, but I'm going to reverse that and say the Pats are also the best team the Ravens have faced. Historically speaking, the Ravens have had trouble beating the truly elite QBs like Brady and the good Manning. Yes, that defense is terrible, but I think Tom Brady is the greatest QB of all time and can make up for it. Stopping Gronkowski has proven to be an impossible task thus far, Hernandez is a dynamic threat, and Welker is as solid as always. The one thing the Pats lack is that field stretching dynamic receiver (and a run game, but they don't need it), and the way that team is set up they get by without it. Weak schedule or not, this offense is still one of the most talented in the league, and stopping them is going to be quite the challenge. All I know for sure is this is going to be a great game to watch.
Pitt dismantled this Patriots team.... and we swept Pitt. I think we are built to beat NE, but NE isn't built to beat us.

There have been some great moments between the two the past few seasons.

Strip sack in '09

Roughing the Brady

Strip sack in the play-off game

Jawing in the game last season

There was also Brady throwing a dirty block on Suggs well away from the play.

Did I understand correctly? You said the defense played well? First time Ravens allow hundred yrd rusher in playoffs, ZERO sacks against a rook, and yes we got INTs but those were poor decision throws from a rook. The D has been sucking it up lately.
I am going to have to disagree. The D held them to 13 points. Not our best showing but far from our worst. The corners played very well over all as well. I do not think the Ravens played poorly so much as the Texans played very well. They really wanted that win, and played to get it. It was one of their best performances all year. Letting Foster get 100+ yards was more due to our D trying to cover for the pass, I think. I do agree that the Ravens really need to game plan for the Pats specifically though.

Yup. I'd be overwhelmingly surprised if we didn't look at that film for the Pit-NE matchup this year and replicate it to a T

I hope we can get away with a ton of holding penalties, because thats how they "covered" Gronk.

I personally didn't watch the game (was working, lol, before you question my fanhood) but if that was the case then let's practice holding!

I hope the Patriots get to relive the 2009 game with Ray Rice having a monster game from start to finish. I think they may overlook us, but on paper we're a pretty bad matchup for the Patriots. If we get pressure on Brady, and cover the receivers well we can hopefully hold them back a little bit more than other teams have. I don't think we'll have too much trouble against their defense in the running game which will set up the potential for a passing attack. Go Ravens!

The only way that'll work is if we change our team colors to black/gold and relocate to that terrible city in western PA. Then the refs would surely let us "cover" Gronk.

Not really dismantle, but they controlled the game the whole way through. The Pats couldn't get the hell off the field at all. I think Pittsburgh converted on a few ''3rd & a mile'' situations which was just ridiculous. They had possession for damn near 40 minutes.

I fully expect at least one "roughing the Brady" call in this game. Have to come to terms with the fact that it will happen before it does, that way I hope to avoid doing any property damage.

If that is the case, we better make it count,

Not sure if people remember this or not but Pollard was the one who blew Brady's knee out. I am sure Brady remembers that

The Ravens could def win! But I wanted point out the LOSSES NE had:

1. Steelers -- dominated the Game but had only a 6 point lead and Brady had the ball with more than a minute to go... even when totally dominated they had a chance to win. Brady had 2 picks

2. Giants -- The Pats D kept ELI and the Giants scoreless for 3 qrtrs, as did the Giants D to the Pats (although our FG kicker missed 2 easy FG early.) In the 4th both teams got gassed on D and was a scoring frenzy, but again the Pats had a very good chance to win.

3. Bills -- Was a scoring bananza that game both D's played horrid, but was close even with Brady throwin FOUR Picks.

All I am saying the Pats could easily have gone 16-0, but I am glad they didn't as this D has a lot of ugly warts but were the healthiest they been all year last Saturday and executed the game plan well, n we will see what Sunday will Bring.

Go see this, we have to play the game similar to how the Steelers beat the Patriots....OWN the TIme of Possession

scrock...

Steelers won the time of possession, but would you want give Brady almost 2 minutes to drive down the field for the win? The Steelers did that and they stopped him, I would feel confident as a Pats fan if he had the ball with that much time left and a TD wins the game for us.

That said I expect a good game, only way I see a Patriot blow out is if the Ravens fail get pressure on Brady and The Pats D has a game last like last weekend. (13 plays for the Broncos were NEGATIVE plays..) I dont see both happening so should be a close good PLAYOFF game.

I was pissed off enough about the "roughing the Rodgers" call from the Giants game this weekend, and I didn't even really care who won that game, it just makes me so angry how some QBs get these calls when a guy like Joe Flacco would never, never, never in a million years have received a call for a hit like that. It's always ridiculous when the league's golden boys get those calls in their favor, it just isn't fair.

Im sorry but how many wake up calls do this team need to get it?

Exactly my thoughts. I don't know if there is much we can change at this point. It all comes down to execution.

And lets not mention the fact that earlier in the game, there were times where the ball was halfway to the receiver before Eli got hit...and no call was ever made.

Im so tired of hearing these QB comparisons, BR.com is running one on the front page right now.

All I know is we can win this game this week and be on to the Superbowl. Cam needs to get out of Joe's way and the OL needs to play a lot better, and the WRs and TEs need to start making plays for their QB instead of dropping 5 passes.

The Patriots defense should be easier for the OL to handle though, Texans D is really comin up in the world, they will be truly ELITE next year if they aren't already....so easier time for the OL against the Patriots.....I know we want to run the ball up and down the field but in situations where Joe has to pass I'd like to see Torrey Smith and Lee Evans on the field together more and have Boldin or Pitta/Dickson in the slot....maybe even swing Rice out of the backfield into motion as a WR

You posted some good reasons why the Patriots could be upset by a good team next week. What you're forgetting is that the Ravens on the road are anything but good.

Were the 4 losses because we were on the road or because the team underestimated their opponent? You can't say. Maybe it's because we were on the road, maybe it's because we overlook teams. No way in hell we overlook the Pats, so we'll find out what kind of road team we really have on Sunday.
