Ravens Heavy Underdogs According To The Spread. Also, Pats Forum Is Crazy!

128 posts in this topic

I would feel confident if I were the Pats too.

But I think we match up very well against them. The Pats haven't beat too many big name teams this year. I believe Denver was their first win against a team with a winning record. I think us and the Steelers will be their toughest matchups all year. We can compete with their TE. We aren't shrimps in the secondary. We can pass rush, we can control TOP.

So let them feel confident, but I am feeling more and more confident about us.

I'm tellin ya, it's Cam. Boldin was made for the slant and all Cam does is deep routes.

I like the part of the OP's comment that states, "it would be a waste to see Balt in the SB..they would get rocked no matter the team and make for a very boring game." Apparently, we'd get rocked by a 49ers team who we've beaten this season, or a Giants team who the 49ers have beaten.

I remember when we used to blow teams out this year and get criticized because we didn't "prove" we could win a tight game. Now we win tight games and get criticized that we can't blow teams out.

I agree but it would be nice for us to pull away in some of these games.

the pats don´t scare me half the way the texans did. absolutely NO defense. and we are able to stop the pretty boy. rice will have a huge day next weekend!!!
I heard that (Rice and a big day) last week regarding the Texans, and he didn't have that great a day. Of course I realize that the Pats do not have even a shadow of the defense that the Texans have.

While Cam's predictable playcalling had a heavy hand in yesterday's performance, the o-line performance was really the key to all of our offensive struggles yesterday.

As far as the spread goes, as others said, not surprised after yesterday.
Agreed. Cam is responsible for the readiness and performance of the offense, so to me he IS the root of all evil.

Man, the Pats fans are so rediculously cocky. I hope we absolutely flatten them, similar to 09, because they deserve it with the pathetic and obnoxious arrogance they are displaying.

It takes a lot to baffle me when it comes to sports fans and their views towards there teams...but what I've been reading on the pats forum since it was decided we would be playing them is shocking...

U would think they were going up against the '11 Panthers....what's bad is I'm the first one on this board to tell u guys to think with a humble heart and leave the homerism behind u...

The key concenus over there seems to be haha look at how the Ravens played yesterday...well let's see...we went up against a Texans team with a Better O-line D-line Running Game then the Pats and basically everything but QB....and won...

I actually think a good majority of our players might be happier to play this pats team over that texans team

Secondly...I keep seeing we're horrible on the road...Ummm not really....real ravens fans know we actually don't mind going to hostile environments in the playoffs and being UNDERDOGS...and that's what we'll be UNDERDOGS...and I love it...it classic Raven football..we struggled on the road this year being overwhelming favorites bc were use to being the team that paints the Target not having the Target painted on us..

I loved finally having a home game don't get me wrong...but Raven football has been predicated on being the bully and punching teams in the mouth in there home stadium when we're not suppose to...Titans and Dolphins in 08 Pats in 09 Chiefs in '10...trust the Ravens have no problems going into Foxboro and winning...we've done it before..

Just shocked bc the last 2years the pats fanbase has usually gone on record as saying we're a team they wouldn't wanna see come into Foxboro...now all of sudden bc we WON against a top rushing attack and top defense ugly...we're not worthy now... Yea ok

This week was tuff on me bc it was the first time since 06 that I can remember being favorited at home with the pressure on us....now this Pat game brings us back to our orgins...

Pats fans need to look at their D and RBs and realize, they are not gonna do what the Texans did to us,bottomline! They do have a good chance of beating us. If think they are gonna roll us because of our performance against maybe they best defense in the league and maybe the best RB in the league, is just stupid. Our D does need to get more pressure than we did vs the Texans if we stand a chance. We need to get Brady to move and be uncomfortable, We need to win the TOP battle and keep Brady off the field as much as possible..i say we win a close one..

I dont really agree with this. 2 completely different offenses. We got beat in SD by WRs in single coverage. Most of those plays were perfect throws by Rivers outside the numbers. NE's offense runs through the TEs and most of the passes are over the middle of the field. With Pollard and Smith we have 2 DBs that match up physically and we also have decent coverage LBs to put on their TEs. Im not saying its going to be easy, but I will maintain we have the personnel to stop their best weapons.

The Steelers went into Foxborough and punched Tom Brady and the Patriots in the mouth. Their team is not much different than ours defensively and I think we actually have a little more talent in the secondary than they have.
No doubt. We have to shut down the Brady-Gronk Express.

I will say regardless of the defense this Pat team is better...they have Welker back and a mean TE combination...the offense will put pressure on our defense and takes away pressure from their defense..

However I think our defense can get pressure and I think our offense can move the ball unlike this past Sunday....

2009 is all I have to say! And that was against a better NE crew than they have now playing "defense"!
Their defense was surely better.

But their offense is better now. Welker was out that game because of an injury in week 17. Their running back was Kevin Faulk. TE was Ben Watson.
Nothing will matter if we can't get pressure on diva. Our pressure forced him into a lot of mistakes that game. And as we know, our pressure has been wildly inconsistent. Hopefully next week it one of our "on" weeks.

Is it me, or has Sizzle really not been getting his ration of fresh QB meat for the last couple of games?

IF we're winning big at the very end of the game, we need to take a shot at Brady for all the phantom ref calls that happened to us when we just barely tapped Brady on the helmet or got pushed into him by their big stupid's on the O-Line. Punish him.

I was watching him on one play, and he got pushed up in the air on his butt by one player alone. Thats pathetic. I couldn't believe my eyes though, so I had to watch it again, and surely enough, he did.

We have ALWAYS played NE tough. I see this game being no different. We got the playoff jitters out against Houston and should come into this game focused. Suggs WANTS this matchup. If Sizzle wants it then I should be confident in our ability to ball so hard too.

If there is any team in the league that is built to beat NE its Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Pitt already throttled New England. Now its our time.

Our vets should come out with a vengance. We have a better team than 2008 when we limped into the AFCCG. This is OUR TIME to get that second ring.

LETS GET IT DONE.

Houston has the best offensive line in the league. Suggs will not be denied against his hated nemesis Tom Brady.

Hopefully Cam asks that Kid again what the first play should be like he did last time we played Pats.

Although I think our offense SHOULD destroy their defense and our defense SHOULD battle it out with their offense, it comes down to execution and the fact that its an away game. We haven't really shown a great ability to play on the road this year compared to other years.

Think about it this way, our underdog role is going to return. Nobody expects us to win in NE, and if the Giants make the Super Bowl, we all know everyone will pick the Giants. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see most people pick the 49ers despite us beating them in the regular season. I'm just glad we are going back to the underdog role again.

Just saying, everyone needs to drop the whole beating them in the playoffs in 2009...There a whole new different team, no point in bringing it up.

That seems to be what Pats fans are pointing at. That their offense personell is much different and they didnt have Welker, Gronkowski, and Hernandez in '09 (still had Randy Moss though..).

But they seem to forget our secondary consisted of Domonqiue Foxworth and FRANK WALKER that year! Do they think the Ravens D didn't get any better either??

Ladarius Webb has yet to give up a TD this season. The Texans targeted Webb 7 times in pass coverage and he gave up 1 pass for 19 yards and had 2 picks...

Cary Williams an undrafted player making his first start this season has completely outplayed the Pats 1st round pick and Pro Bowl corner back from last year in Devin McCourty. Season stats: 55 passes in 110 attempts for 773 yards and four touchdowns and 66 passes in 110 attempts for 1,115 yards and six touchdowns. The Pats are using Julian Edelman a WR on defense!! Boldin and Smith are going to abuse their corners.
..
Now you add in Jimmy Smith a first round pick with top 10 talent who sparingly playing has done well in coverage. Giving you a solid trio of guys to use in nickel packages when the Pats try to spread out defenses and create mismatches. The one on one matchups aren't as lopsided as Pats fans believe. They have excellent offensive personell but the Ravens counter that with defense. They are the last top 5 pass defense left for a reason...

I hate their obnoxious fans, maybe even more than most Steeler fans. They have already dismissed us as an easy blowout win. I hope we crush their team. Every fan of an AFC team, besides them, wants us to win.

Nobody thinks there's going to be a repeat of 09. But every other time we played the Pats, it came down to the wire. This game probably will too. We have more cornerback depth than ever. We just need to get to Brady. It's that simple.

This is a good point. Don't get me wrong, I think our personnel actually matches up very will against the Pats.
