For those of you asking why we didn't use a QB sneak today...I can answer that one. Cam used it the first time we played Houston successfully, so that means we couldn't use it again! lol
I remember at least one QB sneak with Joe at the goal line (right before the TD pass to Kris Wilson). I think he got in, but there wasn't any good angle and the refs gave a not so favorable spot.

Joe was definately in the end zone on that QB sneak, refs gave a bad spot along with no good camera angle to warrant a challenge.

I've lost all confidence in Cam after today's game. He allowed my QB to get MURDERED with his long-winded passing routes. Newsflash, Cam, our WR's can do other things outside the damn Go-Route. Lee Evans made one catch and I never heard of him again. I'm just not understanding. Does he not believe in routes across the middle of the field? Have we forgotten the comeback route? You know, the one made famous by D-Mase?

This vanilla offense is driving me insane, but luckily we've continued to recieve favorable match-ups this year. We're also fortunate enough to have a FO who continue to put productive players on the field who can win in spite of terrible coaching and scheme (Harbs and Cam I'm looking at both of you) We still have two more championships to win. Let's get the first knocked out of the way next Sunday in Foxboro.

Flacco! Do what you do, playa!

Couldn't have said it any better, Greatness. Lee Evans can run any route in the game. But Cam's constantly dialing up go-routes. I think I may have seen one comeback route and that was to Torrey Smith for like an 8-yard completion. I swear Cam Cameron is allergic to 3rd-down conversions. The O-line was non-existent, but Cam Cameron's trying to give me heart attacks at 25. Our entire offense from Cam down needs to bring the A+ game next Sunday. Brady buckled against the Steelers D in the regular season. I know this is the playoffs, but we need to dial up a lot of pressure this week. The Patsies are on fire right now offensively and althought they only had to face the son, the father and the Tim Tebow on Saturday, their Defense really didn't look that bad. But we have Ray Rice, Vonta Leach, Ricky Williams, Joe Flacco, Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin, Lee Evans, Dennis Pitta (WHO NEEDS THE BALL MORE!) and Ed Dickson. We have all the weapons. Use them correctly. If it's 3rd and short, give it to Ricky. Bring in Jah Reid as an extra lineman and Ngata as full back if you need to, but just get it done. Take it to New England and win.

One of my biggest issues about the game Cam called yesterday was that there wasn't enough of Pitta and Dickson. Granted, Dickson dropped one that was slightly behind them but we all know that we do well when we're running from our Diesel package.

Hopefully we hire Hue Jackson to replace Cam after this season. He seems more of a players coach than Cam.

Well he was Joe's QB coach back in 08 and 09, so there's the possibilty he could unleash Joe and we could see what he's capable of.

True, if the receivers had caught those balls and the o-line had decided to come to play, the game probably wouldn't have been as close. But I'm still giving Cam an F. Why? Because every single time I give him even one shred of credit, he burns me the next week.
Hey! No matter what play is called, or that that somebody slipped qualudes in the O-line Gatorade, or that the receivers dropped catchable passes. Lets not forget who's responsibility it is to have the offense READY TO PLAY, who's responsibility it is to GAMEPLAN, who's responsibility is to MAKE ADJUSTMENTS DURING THE GAME. That would be one CAM CAMERON.

There is no good reason for us to have the 15th ranked offense in the league with the talent we have. NONE! Other than we have a coordinator who apparently has no ability to do any of the aforementioned.

Exactly. You can tell in almost all of his playcalls that the offense starts off quick and usually are able to score few points. But as soon as the opponent makes adjustments, the offense turns into a complete dud.

This problem of course goes also with Joe Flacco and the receivers, as well as the o-line. They don't know how to adjust to schemes, and create plays to counter them. No one in the offense communicates during, and off benches. They all just seem to trust that something will fall on their hands and just repeat the same schemes over and over. Our offense needs to be able to communicate. All the veterans like Boldin,Evans should talk with Joe on what they see on field and get in the same mindset to make something 'click' to generate a successful drive. At least that is something what I like to see.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I think Cam is a megalomaniac, I wanted him fired after last season, and everyone knows now that Joe dislikes Cam. Joe liked Jim Zorn and Al Saunders, and guess what, they knew Cam was wrong and disagreed with him a lot. so what happens after they lead Joe to his best season ever - Cam cries about it to John, and John gives Zorn and Saunders the boot. Yes, John, go with your terrible offensive coordinator over your young talented quarterback. Your quarterback says two guys help him to be successful, so lets kick them out the door. You will not find a bigger Cam detractor than me, especially after that debacle last night. San Diego had huge, huge problems on the offensive line, yet Norv Turner called play designs that totally neutralized all the pressure Pags tried to hit Rivers with. Our offensive line was the healthiest it had been since week 1, yet Cam's ridiculous playcalling with it's 15 yard go routes, 5 step drops, forcing Flacco to hold the ball, is on Cam; and the fact that calling the same plays over and over and over again allowed Houston to clamp down on the receivers and forced Joe to hold the ball even longer, not to mention that every time he dropped back he was swarmed. Cam is the one who's supposed to figure out how to neutralize all that and protect Joe. He can't. He needed to be fired in January 2011.

All I meant was there were 5 drops of perfect passes, and they might have led to some more points, so the game score may not have been as close in the end. That's all. Doesn't change the fact that some people on this forum, I'm sure, could easily call better gameplans than Cam Cameron.

2 yds a carry. 'Nuff said. The run game doesn't set up the PA well if they aren't getting anywhere.

My issue isn't even with a heavy dose of run game early on, it's that he sets it up to fail by running up the gut every time and always on first down. The entire world knew what our first play of each offensive series would be.

Woke up this morning with an old Kenny Rodgers song in my head, except the words went like this....
You gotta know how to hold'em, know when to throw'em, know when to audible plays, know when to run, you look just like a dummy, when you're standin' on the sideline, I can't to send you packin', when the season's done!

If Cam still has a job here next year after this, I don't know what to say. He can't coach an offense, can't call gameplans that get separation for the receivers - heck, the San Diego o-line was more battered than we were and Norv's schemes totally neutralized Pagano's the whole game.
Two Weeks to prepare for this game. Yes the coaching staff should be under the microscope.

The Offensive Coordinator should have recognized the assignments for the offensive line. He should have recognized the receivers need to run patterns than hooked and come back for the catch. Huston does have a Great defense. But Great teams find a a way to to let their will overwhelm the opponent. The Texans game plan was to shut diown Ray Rice Period. They did a great job. Though I still thnik running Ray wide is more productve, the Texans plugged up and tracked Ray very well. Play calling is still a weakness for Cam. Cam is an extremely decent and good person. BUT he is not an Offensive Coordinator.

I have a comparison that too leads me to John Harbaugh. Did you notice with the 49ers that they did not run as much. Seems John and Jim made their game plan together.

Will John consult with Jim for the Patriots. The Offense I think needs to go full out and be very balanced. Scoring 30 plus and qwuickly is going to be necessary. Brand and the Tight Ends are going to destroy Ray Lewis and the lindbackers. The 3rd quarter is going to be the imprtant time in this game.

I felt Cam called a very good game. There is little I would have changed, other than try to get the TE a little more involved.
Also, I thought the 4th and a foot for the TD should have been a QB sneak; I said that to my bro as we were lining up, because they were coming at us off the edges insanely fast (Oher looked extremely lackadaisical most of the game).

Other than that, I'd give Cam a B+, maybe even an A-
You had no problem w/ two straight pass plays on 2nd and 5 w/ less than 3 minutes to play?

Honestly, it wasn't the worst called game. There was a definite lack of execution. The number of drops and their timing was especially brutal, and the run blocking wasn't exactly stellar neither. However, there were several times when I was incredibly frustrated with Cameron's calls, those being at the end of both halves. In the 2nd quarter, the Texans scored a TD with just under 5 minutes to go. A successful running attack and a beautiful pass and catch to Boldin puts us at their 33 yard line with 2 minutes left, potentially making this the last drive of the half, should we play our cards right. Considering how stale our offense was in this quarter up to this drive, and that the defense just gave up a long drive to the Texans, I felt that scoring points in any fashion would've at least helped us negate their past drive to some degree, and give us cushion coming into the 3rd quarter. However, instead of even attempting to run the ball, we passed on 3 straight plays, equaling 0 yards on the first two, and a sack for -8 yards on the third, which effectively took us out of field goal range. I can always appreciate diversity, but when our last 4 running plays on this drive merited at least 4 yards a piece, I believe that we should've at least attempted to draw closer to a potential 3 on one of those downs.

Lastly, it was the play-calling with 3 minutes left that left me puzzled. We faced a 1st and 10 at their 31 yard line with 3:09 left on the clock. Ray Rice manages to find a crease for a solid 5 yard gain. With Houston having 2 time outs left and a 2 minute warning, we were 5 yards and 1 first down shy of leaving them just over a minute and a single drive to attempt a game-tying TD. Instead, we run a series of passes that gain nothing, don't make Billy Cundiff's attempt any easier, and take merely 8 seconds off of the remaining time. Sadly, this isn't the first time that Cam decides to call an unsuccessful pass play with 3 minutes left right after a successful run play, all while nursing a lead. Both of the previous scenarios ended in an incompletion and a lost fumble. Not a fan of how those situations were handled.

PS: My opinion could be influenced by the unbelievably annoying fan sitting behind me, who literally screamed at the top of his lungs every time Cam didn't call a run on a 3rd and long lol
This series cost me a new remote.

I agree, man. That makes a lot of sense. I didn't want to complain again since I've already done it countless times today, but I had to. But you're right. From now on, if we win it's because of our players. The only coaches that deserve credit are Harbaugh and Pagano. But even Harbaugh shouldn't have challenged that Arian Foster run.
Although it ended up being a bad challenge, the crowd wanted to challenge. I think Harbaugh caved to the crowd. From inside the stadium it looked like Foster stepped out of bounds.

I'm with Fly on this one. It amazes me that the offensive personnel can lose 1-on-1 matchups at virtually EVERY position and somehow people still blame came. That red zone call was good, we just couldn't run the ball.

The 2nd and 3rd down pass calls before the final Ravens field goal completely ruined the game plan in my opinion. Plus there didnt seem to be any adjustments.

You know, if you execute the call... you'll get yardage.

execution is far more important than play calling.

how about a HB pitch or a draw play. nohing but iso and up the gut runs get old
see...that makes too much sense for Cam.

i mean...why wouldn't he use his fastest HB (Rice) to get to the outside with pitches, tosses and sweeps? or..why wouldn't he use his power running HB (Williams) to run up the gut near the goaline or on short yardage? cause it makes too much sense...that why not!

I agree with you on the red-zone calls and there's no denying Houston's front seven dominated. However, take a look at the PFF article I quoted on page 3. That can kind of predictability is just disgusting.

No. It's not like Rice could run the ball, and 7 points with 3 mins on the clock is not a safe lead.

Oh yeah he's a nice guy, good family man, and I'm sure he's polite company. I'm sure most of the head coaches and coordinators out there are good people. Doesn't change the fact that a lot of them, Cam being one, can't coach. The problem with Cam is he's too stubborn to change, and I think John is hitched to Cam - they're very old friends, and I don't see why he's going to get rid of Cam now.

Not discounting the horrible line play, but yesterday, RR ran like his shoe laces were tied together!

And you are exactly right, we needed to get points and the run was not going to get it done.

Exactly!! and that is when you need to realize that you need to utilize your time to not give Houston time to tie it up. Rice just ran for 5 yards on 1st down, you're ALREADY in FG range. You run it 2 more times to run the clock out or force Houston to use it's time outs. Right before halftime Cam called 3 straight pass plays. During that series they were 0-3 and on 3rd down Flacco was sacked, knocking us out of FG range. So why would do the same thing at the end of the game and risk a turnover or in this case only 8 seconds running off the clock? Not to mention, Joe was sacked 5 times up to that point.

Sorry brother....but in this scenario you run the ball every time!!!
