An Apology

26 posts in this topic

Let me apologize for myself and on behalf of other Ravens fans who aren't immediately ecstatic about this win. To be in the AFC Championship game is an amazing opportunity and I'm so proud about our team and how hard they played today, fighting on every play against a VERY WORTHY TEAM (let's not underestimate how good that team is; they're pretty much 2000 Ravens Lite)

I think for me what sours it initially is that I really feel like we were outplayed but managed to get the win, and I'm just disappointed about that. But I think myself and many other Ravens fans who share the same sentiment will appreciate this opportunity as we get into this week. Who cares how you win in the playoffs, as long as you get the win.

At the end of the day, it's a PLAYOFF WIN (another one for the Fu Man Chu) and we are ONE game away from the Super Bowl! So please forgive my downer attitude, I love this team!

It was ugly, ill-performed showing by the Ravens, but no matter what a win is a win, and this win was Huge! Congratulations to the Ravens for reaching the AFC Championship!

Well, we didn't play very well, but we did win, and for the most part were ahead for the game. I would prefer a less hectic and heart wrenching win but I love the wins anyway we can get them.

I can accept all of that ... they won. It wasn't pretty and it was frustrating at times, but we won.

The thing that has me almost hopping up and down mad is that the ineptitude of the offense and the playcalling being unable to get 4-inches may have cost us Ed Reed. There was no reason our defense should have had to go back out on that field again. That was pathetic ... totally pathetic.

there was one by rice for a gain of 8, then we got down to where we couldnt convert the first down that potentially cost us Ed Reed.

I believe your right. I was looking for a pitch or even a reverse just to mix it up some. Gameplan and playcalling sucked.

Watching the game, I had no idea how we managed to hold that lead throughout the game. Their team was better than advertised. As they say, good teams find a way to win those games. In the end we protected the football better and made less mistakes, which as usual makes the difference.

I apologize myself. I just did not like our play calling and our O-Line, but our vets proved everyone wrong. I am glad we won and are back in the AFC Championship. Time to move on and ruin some clam chowder.

I'm pretty sure you're right. And we did on every first and 10 except one.

It's just incomprehensible to me that this seems to be acceptable to our FO and our HC.

It's so easy for us to see, to call every single play practically, and they don't think the opposing D can do that? I don't know. I can't get my head around it right now.

I AM happy we won. Props to Webb, man, you are straight on your way to being a top corner in the league. Reed, warrior man. Hope you're okay. Boldin, good to have you back.

Congrats to all the Ravens players. Work to do this week boys. I know you can do it.

Understand the sentiment, but we were just a click or two off from winning that game by 3 TDs, as well. Again, the Texans EARNED the scoreline, but it wasn't all horror. This was a street fight. I truly believe that when that team comes to play, they are amongst the best in the league. We all know that you can't cruise through the playoffs unless you get to play Mr. Tebow at home when he's all out of tricks.

It was a back alley slugfest--and we prevailed. I like that. We can adjust now. The Pats are the ones who had it easy and aren't really sure what will click or not vs. Baltimore. (That being said, I'm sure scared to play them right now)

The rest of the day is just for being happy. When you win against a defense as good and determined as that, you've achieved something.

This. It was frustrating but we got through them. Bring on Tom Brady and his hello kitty thong.

You can choose to be negative if you like.

I choose to look at it like this -- we went against a great defense, they completely manhandled our OL, completely shut down Ray Rice, got 5 sacks, and we still win by 7. We proved for the umpteenth time that even at 75% we are better than all but a couple teams. And two of the three teams that we need to be firing on all cylinders for (GB and Saints) are no longer a threat.
If we beat the Pats, that Lombardi is ours. However, NE is the one remaining team that we need to absolutely bring it against -- a half hearted performance on offense like we had today will end our season.

here's the problem....

the ravens offense has been playing like this the entire season! they come out hot in the first half...gain a nice lead...and then in the second half....nothing! maybe 1 fg. 1 fg? 1 fg for an entire qrtr after putting up 2-3 tds in the first half? c'mon bruh! i believe that we can beat the patriots but this offense gotta help our defense out.

No doubt our offense needs to get it's [profanity deleted] in gear next week. But they seem to shine against weak defenses, so I'm cautiously optimistic for next week.

I would hope the offense could too. But when we get a 10 point lead we run the ball every down. Hoping to run the clock when its only the 2nd quarter. We play hard on the Pats and I hope we do it again!

I don't know what game you guys were watching but the only ones I was disappointed in today were the refs. They were missing and blowing calls all day. Cost us 2 TDs and put Ed Reed back out on that field unnecessarily.

Houston is a good team. I've said that all week. Week 6 showed us we'd have a tough game today. They were all over Flacco then and today. But if Houston had been the better team they would be headed to Foxborough.

If you want to cry about your team's mistakes you need to be a Steelers or Packers fan. Those teams screwed up badly. Steelers at least have the excuse of being hurt.

You are right, we were outplayed and we did manage to pull off the win. But Flacco and Cams inability to get points on the board (3 quarters without a touchdown, getting a fg in the 4th) will be the death of us if we can't have consistency. After watching every game this weekend, I see some great teams out there but I feel that the fact Joe doesn't attack the middle of the field or that he isn't making plays under a pass rush (throw it away or run!) shows how this offense will be the death of us.

Against the 32nd ranked defense, im hoping for a Ray Rice 200 yard day and Im hoping Joe can attack between the hashes and secure the football. Congrats to the team for making it this far and congrats to Webb for taking a huge step in his career this season.
