O Line

80 posts in this topic

The o-line lost the battle most of the time today, and that was pretty apparent on many plays today. Even our two really good o-linemen Grubbs and Yanda just had overall poor days. If they don't improve next week and win the battle in the trenches, we have no chance against the Patriots. The pass rush from our own d-line was pretty lackluster all game too, and when guys got close they couldnt finish with a sack. It goes the same for them next week too. The 4 turnovers by our defense / special teams are no doubt what won the game for us today because we sure didnt win the battle in the lines.

That had to be the WORST O-line in NFL. I dont remember a SINGLE time where Flacco wasnt closed in and pressured. Oher & Yanda (right) were a COMPLETE and UTTER Joke today. McKinnie was also a complete joke.

Lets be real honest. If our O-line gets dominated by PATRIOTS DEFENSE, its really time to do a COMPLETE SWEEP. That includes the O-line coach. Pathethic PATHETHIC performance by the O-line.

Maybe on par, our Receiver (Ed Dickson, Torrey Smith, Pitta) were a joke today. I think the only player that consistently had some credibility was Anquan Bolding to be in playoff mode. If i remember right each of them had ONE reception per game. All three of them, for the whole 60 minutes. I will ask you this, can we honestly win with performance like that from our receivers? Even if our defense plays LIGHTS OUT?

Joe Flacco of course, was a joke today. If he can't get something going, at least fire up the offense while on bench and communicate with your receivers. He just sat there snotting his boogers out in bench and just sat quietly the whole game. 3rd & out EIGHT TIMES TODAY. At least keep something, ANYTHING going to keep the defense on rest just for ONE MINUTE.

If it wasnt for the turnovers today, we would've lost.

GET A FRESH START, AND GET OUT OF THE GUTTER OFFENSE. AFC CHAMPIONSHIPO TIME. LETS GO!
Yeah! Lets get rid of our entire line! That includes two former probowlers, one pro bowler, and a probowl alternate!

This post is a joke.

Some of us have talked about it off-and-on this year, but with the way Michael Oher has played, he might go the way of Jared Gaither when all is said and done this year.

Oher's consistent struggles against the Bengals and his inability to protect on crucial downs, in addition to his head-scratching penalties, don't give me any reason to believe he'll be here much longer. He had a good run initially, but his goodwill is quickly evaporating.

Agreed. I'd like for him to improve so he can stay. It'll be difficult to find a new RT though. Jah Reid maybe?
Now i hate Cam Cameron dont get me wrong, and he wasnt great today, but had some good moments aswell. Recievers dropped balls, flacco played well, missed on one or two he should have hit..

But we got killed at the LOS every play. No holes for rice or williams, flacco was under pressure every pass, he was sacked a career high 5 times, he was hit on numerous more plays, and avoided a couple of sacks on top of that. It wasnt even heavy blitzing, just beating our men one on one. Yanda looks hurt or else just had a bad game, Oher was domianted all day by Watt, although he beat yanda once.

Play calling didnt help, more screens on first down slowing the linemen down, no wr screens, no quick routes until the last 5 mins in the 4th qtr.. The oline could have been helped yes, but 4th and short at the EZ, 3rd and inches in the last minute and you cant move the pile?

I duno what happened

If we did not have 3 interceptions and 1 fumble recovery, we would have lost because our OL looked weak. Others on the team stepped-up today to mask offensive play that does not resemble a playoff team. More on the OL, does anybody else see some issues Oher?
CBS said Birk is going to retire, too, after this year. Any confirmation of this?

I've long thought Ravens line was not that great. Today showed just how weak it really is. They not only had no push - they were getting penetrated in short yardage situations. There is no excuse for that. An NFL line that cant get you a foot is lame. An NFL line that cant get you a foot and also lets defenders into backfield just plain stinks.

The difference between Oher and Gaither is we won't miss Oher.

Maybe he should be playing guard?

They won't get rid of Oher. The bright side is he'll be relatively cheap to resign. He's not an awful RT but he's definitely not an elite RT. The whole Oline played like a JV squad today. But Oher has been average this year, not terrible but not good. Basically what a RT usually is. He for damn sure should never play LT again though.

Funny, the one slant he called worked beautifully. And he never called it again.

Agreed. It was a mixture of a whacky O-line and Cam Cameron's horrid play-calling.

Can't disagree with you on the drops. Flacco threw some great passes in tight coverage that were just plain dropped. Announcers talking about how Flacco was 2 for 8 in the beginning was making me upset as there were already 4 dropped passes at that point.
Our we the FANS the only ones that see this, the media never ever talks about the passes that are dropped, its not like the passes are bad and the WR has to make adjustments to get it. He practically throws it in their lap. Don't even get me started on the O LINE, lol, what a JOKE.

Half the fans don't see it. Flacco's effective completion percentage today was well over 60 percent. But when wide receivers drop it, it's because Flacco didn't personally hand it to them so it's his fault.

I hear ya, yes im a Flacco fan but im not going to have my Purple blinders on when watching him. Does he make Mistakes , yes, what qb doesnt. Do the WRers drop more passes than say a bad Flacco pass that is uncatchable, i would have to say yes. Im glad the Receivers finally started catching balls in the 4th quarter. Out of everything to take from this game, i would be concerned more about the O LINE, they have got to do something. That s. isnt going to fly moving forward, maybe have Vonta back there all the time even when it an obvious pass play, cause its not like we full them at all.1 out 20 times, i get fooled and im not a defensive player or coach , so if i can tell that much then i say its a SERIOUS problem.

FIX IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See that's the problem. There are a ton of haters here that plain bash Flacco for everything. I don't think there's anyone on this board that is so blinded that we think Flacco is elite, or even consistent, this season. The problem is there are certain blind posters (I think you know who I'm talking about) who claim to watch the game and then bash Flacco for a performance like today. Even though if all the drops were his fault (which they weren't) his qb rating was like 97 or something. His effective completion percentage this whole year was like 63 percent. I understand that receivers drop balls for every quarterback, but this season was really, really bad. I'm just glad we have level-headed guys like Ozzie and Eric running the show, because they probably break down every game on film frame by frame, and they know that Flacco's receivers have dropped at least twice as many passes as they did last season.

The O line looked like they went on VACATION during the BYE and forgot to come back.
My thought exactly....it was like boys against the girls....just awful...no fight in the offensive line at all, the entire game. They looked really bad just getting manhandled by the Texans....there weren't nearly this bad in the first game against the Texans.

I blame Cam....he did not have this unit ready to play and thats his job.

Flacco should be getting Watches from his whole O line, especially the right side. And while we are at it, the WRers should be getting Flacco something

They should both get body armor from the o-line if the o-line wants to do that poor of a job blocking.

This game is an anomaly from Yanda, he's one of the best in the league. It happens.

It was a pretty shady performance by the O-Line.

However, were talking about the Texans D-Line and we just came off a bye.

Horrible performance by the offensive line. They stunk it up so bad. I agree Ray Rice should get all those watches back and get his money back. A bunch of lazy players I tell ya. Did you see that play where Yanda stepped to the side to allowed Flacco to get sacked. He should be fined and penalized by the the head coach and owner for that.
