Ravens @ Patriots - AFC Championship

the Patriots think they can stop the run now because they stopped the #1 running offense last week. Well 1) Denver had to throw the ball because they were getting outscored and running well runs off the clock. 2)we got Vonta Leach and Ray Rice who are better than Mcgahee.

I just can't believe they are trying to compare the Broncos run game to Rice lol They are cute.

First of all, congrats on your win against the texans. I've read what all of you ravens fans have said and now let me explain why this will be a much different game than what you all believe.

Reason 1:
Patriots have a high powered offense. I would love to see the ravens secondary cover welker, branch, Gronkowski, and Hernandez. Patriots also shut down Miller and Dumervill who are great pass rushers.

Valid Point, Bronco's however have no interior pass rushers. We have Ngata and McPhee a situational kid that had 6 sacks from the DT spot.

Reason 2:
The Patriots have a better O-line than the Texans. The Texans didnt allow a sack on Yates. Suggs has only 1 sack in 4 games.

False for a few reason I'll give you. Patriots have a better drop back pass protection line, its not half as good run blocking, not even close. The reason we didn't get pressure today was because we couldn't contain Foster in the run game. When you can't stop the run you can't open up the pass rush lanes. The Ravens won't be as preoccupied with the Patriots run game and will thus come after Brady harder than they did Yates today. I read a stat on ESPN that Baltimore sent 4 or fewer rushers on 29 of 35 plays today. Ravens sacked Schaub 4 times last time the two teams met.

Reason 3:
The Patriots stopped the #1 ranked rushing offense in the leaugue so I am confident we will stop Ray Rice, Ricky Williams.

Patriots stopped the #1 ranked rush offense because to be point blank they didn't expect Tebow to beat them and they played more man coverage with safety help over top than the Steelers did the week before. Flacco has shown in the past 2 regular season meetings he can throw on the Patriots defense. The Bronco's also run that option-read deal. Ravens are a light version of the Texans zone read stretch combined with a power run game. It will be different than the Bronco's run game.

Reason 4:
You are coming to OUR HOUSE and there wont be a repeat of the playoff game 2 years ago!!

Not really a point, but the Patriots are 8-1 at home this year and Foxborough is historically hard place to play is a point you could make. However, we have beat the Patriots at home in the past. If there's one team that can do it, I'd like to believe its the Ravens.
Reason 5:
Patriots have the most takeaways in the league with +17, and we are ranked 31st in the league for giving up YARDS. Do you look at yards on the score board? Patriots are middle of the pack for giving up points.

Middle of the pack, but the goal is to keep Brady off the field as long as possible. Patriots being #30 in yards allows the Ravens to chew up time and yardage to flip the field. One thing is certain, the Ravens will have to be flawless in the red zone to win this game.
Reason 6:
We have Chung and Spikes back. We held the Broncos to only 10 points, shut down their rush offense and a patriots pass rush is starting to emerge.

Both are decent players, I wouldn't call them game changers. Spikes can be exploited in coverage big time, though is good against the run. You held the Bronco's to 10 points, as already stated the option read offense and simplified route concepts is not hard for a Belichick defense to defend. Especially that Belichick knew enough to give help over the top.

Reason 7:
Can the Ravens score more than 30 points?

That is something to be seen. However, as we're seeing with the Packers high octane offenses can be slowed considerably and poor defenses can be taken advantage of.
FINALLY

Reason 8:
REVENGE IS A DISH BEST SERVED COLD.

Star Trek VI reference, nice!

Patriots will win 38-17
We'll see about that.

Oh now we have to deal with these front running patsy fans. You know the last team to shutdown your "high power" offense? It was the steelers the Ravens and the steelers in essence have the same personnel but the Ravens are better. Nobody cares about your revenge factor dude.

It'll be a tough game. But look at how these high powered offenses are faring in the post season. Not to well. The Broncos IMO was not a legitimate playoff team. We are balanced. We won't have to face the same pressure that we faced today. It can be done. Be tough.

Nah, we lost in OT to them last year when Mesko made like a 70 yd punt

Our defense will have to be in top form.

And our offense will need to put up some TD's instead of FG's.

Patriots fans are very cocky now because they dominated a mediocre Broncos team. Our offense has been through a GAUNTLET of defenses. The Pats defense will be a break.

They haven't beaten a team with a winning record all year. The streak continues next week.

Mcgahee was still averaging a very respectable 4.5 yards/carry. I agree, Denver is the top rushing offense because of the option, not because they have a runningback as good as Ray Rice, which they don't.

We're a very similar team overall to the Steelers (more run oriented and less pass oriented than Steelers, but much better O-Line as well) and they beat the pats this year so I'm not really sure what they are so confident about?

And historically we've always matched up better with them than Pittsburgh. They used to routinely blow Pittsburgh out. They beat us often, but the games are always close.

Whenever you find yourself getting scared of Tom Brady and his abilities, just place this picture in your head:

When will the Ref for this game be announced? I hope that it's not the crew in the Packers/Giants game or Ron Winters crew. I'm more hoping for Houchli and his crew.

In fairness, the Ravens were the only team playing against a very good defense and Cam Cameron's play-calling.

Not sure what happened today but I don't see the same Ravens team showing up next week. No injuries to report and that'll be key against the 31st ranked defense. Just run the ball and run the clock.

Congratulations to Big Ray on coming to the game to play. Great Job Ray.

Congratulations to Billy Cundiff, Good Job today Bill.

Congratulations to Antwon Bollen. Great job.

The rest of you better think twice if you think you are going to foxboro with the game you played today.

PATHETIC.

I'm pretty glad Webb, Reed, Cary and Jimmy came too.

We better be taking a long and hard look at that steelers game because they had the perfect formula to beating the Pats.
Agreed, Pitt gave us the blue print on how to beat the 2011-2012 Pats. I know we beat them in 09 in Foxboro but this game is very different. I do like our Offense matching up with NE's D. Hou has a top 3 defense and really made us grind on offense. The pats offer a much more dynamic passing attack, but a very vulnerable defense.

I gotta say NE has been playing a very low level of competition all year. Didn't win a single game against playoff teams in the regular season and has only had to face the 8-8 Broncos @ home thus far. It's possible that the Pats might have fallen into a false comfort zone considering the level of competition they've been facing. I think the plan should be to be aggressive early on offense and try to make Brady & co. play from behind. This will allow us to bring more pressure on D and hopefully our playmakers will make a few big plays on D.

My biggest key for the game is to pressure Brady early and often. This contributes to not giving up the big play as well. Make Brady dink and dunk in between the 20's. Keep everything in front of you and cause as many 3rd downs as possible. You have to know Brady will make some great throws and you can't do anything about that. We didn't get much pressure at all today and Yates found his guys when he had a nice clean pocket. The only int's came on plays where we actually collapsed the pocket. Houston has arguably the best O-Line in football though, I think we have more success against the Pats as far as bringing pressure. Much like how Gronk and Hernandez create match up problems with our lb's, Dickson and Pitta will create match up problems for NE's lb's. This game could go either way, we can speculate all we want but I'm not gonna give either team the edge. I honestly think no one knows how this will play out until next sunday.

That is a much bigger spread than I expected.

The Ravens need to run the ball and control the clock next week against the Patriot's defense. The last thing the Ravens need is to have Cam try to get cute. Let's keep Brady off the field.
