Then I guess it's a good thing the Ravens play the early game, huh?

Sorry Pack.

In all seriousness though, there is always a first for everything. Perhaps this year is the year.

I don't feel like doing research, but I'm going to assume that there aren't very many teams that go 6-0 at home all the way to the playoffs to have a chance to change the trend, even if it goes back to the past 20 years. Of course, that's just an assumption, so feel free to stone me if I'm wrong.

It's a pretty stupid stat anyway (no offense); why would you judge somebody's future based on other teams in the past?

Home teams haven't gone 8-0, yes but right now everything is in favor of the Home Teams. Thus 8-0 is real possible. Then again I think the Giants beat the Packers so Home Teams will be 7-1.

I hate stats like these, they make me nervous.

I wish we played tonight. There haven't been any massive upsets yet this weekend, so I feel like it's due.

Trey Wingo take notice: in the 8 home games I have NOT watched this season, the Ravens are 8-0. Guess who's finding something else to do on a cold Sunday afternoon.

I wouldn't go as far as super scary, but I am glad we are the early game.
That's what I was about to say. At least we don't have to be the 8th team. We only have to be the 7th!

But c'mon. We have one of the best home field advantages in the league. These playoffs are showing the home field matters.

So what? Not that history means anything, but you'd have to look at the odds of 7 home teams winning GIVEN the previous 6 already won. The odds of 6 home teams winning out of six games have already been taken care of. For example, if the odds of 8 home teams winning was 1 in 100, and the first seven home teams win, you can't say the Packers have a 1% chance of winning.

No QB ever won that many games in his first four years, either. The game has changed. Playing a road game in the NFL is probably tougher than it ever has been.

Obviously each game is independent...so the past is irrelevant. It's typical fallacious reasoning, like saying that if you flip a coin and get heads 6 times in a row you're "due" for a tails.

If you look at the odds and the line. The 49ers beating the Saints was an upset I do believe.

Man, you have amazing self control.

One season, it seemed the Ravens only scored when I would have to go take care of something, cook dinner, get a drink, etc. It got to the point that I would get up and leave the room when they were driving. Then, one time I didn't, I wanted to see. And they still scored.

Watch the game, man. I'm telling you it isn't you. I really feel badly that you'll miss this.

I have stuff to do though. I have a ton of anatomy and histology to study, and then I need to spend a lot of time in the cadaver lab. There are like 20 blood vessels around the abdominal area that I have to learn, and they are really complicated - and unfortunately unlike the picture books, the bodies there are not color coded. So I won't even be thinking about it. I will be like "Oh my god, my test is in 3 weeks, I don't have time, I need to study". The one good thing about it is I won't be worrying about how the Ravens do.

Lots of the fans are very superstitious, and/or are stat mongers. Combine the two and you get that sort of thing.

No upsets? I think the Steelers getting Tebowed qualified as an upset.

Will you DVR the game? Or at least listen to it on the radio?

Highlights. Don't have a DVR, and there are no radios in the anatomy lab.

Well, the flip side is that it's VERY unusual for all four home teams to win in the wild card round. It's not quite as unusual for all four home teams to win in the divisional round.

Besides, also according to Trey Wingo, the only team that can win the Super Bowl ARE the Ravens because no team with a defense worse than 25th, an offense worse than 25th, or rookie quarterback have ever won the Super Bowl.

More important stats:

-Ravens 8-0 at home
-Ravens lead all time series vs Texans 4-0
-Ravens have four postseason wins vs Texans one
-Ravens beat Texans this year with their starting QB

Not paying too much attention to the other stuff
