I happen to agree with them that he's been pretty good in coverage. The easy solution to this ? Our resident PFF subscribers need to look up his coverage stats.

As a quick update, PFF has BA OVERALL score at + 0.7. Doesnt means much since that includes more than just coverage but that's all I can see.

The Dude was Balling out in preseason and it was between him and some white dude for the roster spot. They picked the white guy, dont know why cause had 1 good game and Bynes had i think 3 good games.

How do you know based on his preseason performance that he would be better than teammates on the active roster?

I dont remember but if you watched the preseason you would remember too, it was between the two. And for preseason, they still play hard, just not lights out. And you can get a feel for a guy watching him play. And from what i saw, i was really impressed. I think he was more of a pass rusher, good one though.

Why do fans get so hung up on certain rookie players? It just boggles the mind. There is no way that these guys could have been seen playing actual NFL football, so these fanboys have to have seen them during preseason or in college. I would assume that any fan (even a fanboy) would realize those games are a bit of a step from an actual regular season NFL game. Sure, during preseason I saw some rookies that were impressive, but when they were not put on the field, I just had to accept that the coaching staff knew a little bit more about it than I do.

I could understand if we are talking about veterans with a few years of playing time, that could have been viewed by these fans. Then some actual logical data could be assessed as to the players abilities. But rookies? I just do not understand.

Same with Jimmy Smith. A lot of people were clamoring for him to start over C. Williams when all they had seen was a solid performance against D. Bowe in the preseason. The San Diego game clearly proved he was not ready for a starting role.
