[Blogs] Happy For Texans, But Ready To Knock Them Out

44 posts in this topic

After the Ravens beat the Texans, 29-14, in the regular season, former teammates and safeties Bernard Pollard and Glover Quin predicted they would see each other again.

After beating the Bengals last Saturday, Quin texted Pollard.

“I’ll see you on Sunday,” Quin recalled saying in his text message.

“This might not be what ya’ll want,” Pollard responded.

“Hey, let’s get it,” Quin retorted.

Pollard, as well as former Texans fullback Vonta Leach, are happy their former teammates made the playoffs after being on the cusp for several years.

But now the two Ravens have the chance to knock out Houston in its first trip.

“I think for them, they’re excited,” Pollard said. “You saw the game last week, they went out there and played their butts off in front of their home crowd.”

Then Pollard smiled and winked.

“Now it’s time for them to come to Baltimore and see what it’s like in the playoffs,” he said.

The Texans are in the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. They have long been close, however, with Leach and Pollard both contributing. They were 6-10 last year after a late-season swoon. They went 9-7 in 2009 and 8-8 in 2008 and 2007.

Leach gave credit to Head Coach Gary Kubiak and General Manager Rick Smith for turning Houston around and getting them to the playoffs.

“I’m happy for them,” Leach said. “I’ll talk to a couple of them before the game and stuff. But during the game we’re enemies.”

Pollard and Quin keep in touch as they and their wives are still good friends. Leach said that he has been texting back and forth with a couple Texans this week, including running back Arian Foster.

There’s no additional motive, they say, to beat their former teammates beyond simply moving on to the AFC Championship.

“It doesn’t matter who we’re trying to play,” Leach said. “There’s no added nothing. We’re trying to get to the next round. They just happen to be there.”

Friday’s Week of Winning contest code is: PURPLEFRIDAY

to mojoe, if you dont recall we were also missing Ben Grubbs when we played the texans last time. after seeing how dominant we were in the steelers game with grubbs and then seeing how poorly we blocked in the titans game i think its now very well known how immportant Ben Grubbs is to our O line. I think with him back, communication will be better and so will too the blocking...

Go Ravens... Its time to go to work at the bank

I have faith our team can and will do this . I think it will be a slug fest and very close but we only need to win by one point. Let's strap up and do battle! I went to the neighborhood pub yesterday and had the ubiquitous honor of sitting next to the only squealer fan in our 'hood!

True to form he ranted about the refs and how "they" will be back, while I drank to make him more interesting!

Then, out of nowhere, he started talking about Texan revenge!

C'mon Ravens,... give me more bragging rights, Sunday!!!

When we go max protect and take shots Joe needs to be on his game. Just watched the game again, and MoJoe is right, they really put a lot of pressure on Flacco. We can't bank on five field goals from Cundiff this week. This game is NOT gonna be a walk in the park, but it will definitely prepare us for winning the AFC. Gitterdone!!!

i must thank the texans for giving us their 2 hardest hitters. they must have known that they would better suit the ravens style of football

I too watched the game and noticed that while Flacco was under tremendous pressure all game, he STILL threw for 300 yds.

The Raven nation has suffered enough in the past, this is our time to succeed. The best part of the Steelers being OUT is no more stories or pictures of them on this web site!!!

I hope that everyone that is going to the game on Sunday will lose their voice. Heck when we played the Bengals at home, i was there, lost my voice by half time. As soon as it came back, i lost it again and so on. But if you guys lose your voice, just do what i did, bang on the chair infront of you, i had two rows of my section doing it, Just watch out for peoples beer on the chair you banging on, it will start shooting every where, talking from exp. lol.

Leach and Pollard are going to have to have big games for the Ravens to succeed and win this week for Pollard he's going to have to cover real good with their TE's real good and stack the box when needed to and for Vonta he has to block possibly the best inside LB tandem in the NFL in Brian Cushing and Demeco Ryans
