Flacco: Speaks About Elite QBs

147 posts in this topic

I'm watching Mike & Mike in the morning and they play an interview with Flacco talking about how "Elite QBs" throw for so many yards because they don't run the ball. He mention Rodgers and Brady teams never run so they can throw all the time but if the Ravens did that they could win 8 games and when the Ravens lose 1 game. The critics will crucify them for not running...

If anyone can find the interview to post it please do...

I can't believe how much heat he takes, now he's too sensitive ? WHAT? He just answered the media's questions

Joe Flacco CANNOT WIN no matter what he does, u could tell he was having some fun with the media and said it jokingly...whats the big deal? we criticize other QBs for not speaking up and being a leader but then we criticize others for saying anything

The hate in the media he takes is ridiculous, I WORRY that he's gonna say to hell with Baltimore and just leave us with nothing but the Kyle Bollers of the world....

They pointed out that Ravens had like 20 more rushing attempts than patriots as a team so we technically didn't run it that much more and Flacco had more passing attempts than Rodgers...

While I understand Flacco's point of how the media constantly discredits, disrespects, or overlooks the ravens, the interview made him seem like he listens and cares what the media says about him....
Flacco has been talking a lot this season, unlike previous years, I would like to see him do more talking ,communicating , audibling ( against Cam's wishes ) on the field....... If he wanna talk so much start the Fire Cam Cameron Club since he got them to get rid of Jim Zorn, Al Saunders....

I remember Eli Manning getting bashed constantly by national sports media types. The same people who said Eli wouldn't even be noticed if it wasn't for his last name are now comparing him with the likes of Brees, Rodgers and Brady.

While it does get annoying to hear the constant Flacco criticism week after week.. some solid play from Joe in the post season should shut those people up for at least the time being.

I would like Flacco to stop talking to the media, period. Everything he says they twist it around, especially the writers at NFL Network. On NFL.com the article reads "Ravens' Flacco: I deserve more credit". What a crock. He made a joke, saying that if the Ravens win Joe will have nothing to do with it, and if they lose it would be all his fault. Where does "I deserve more credit" come out of that? Garbage.

Yes this is a no win situation. The national media has no vested interest in giving people credit for what they've earned or give more credit to players than they actually deserve (we all know the prime example of this...). They will only spin it the way they want it.

Let your game speak.

Flacco needs to just keep quiet. If we lose on Sunday and he's the reason for it, he just exposed himself to a lot of unnecessary fire.

Honestly, he says he doesn't care, but it's clear that he does, if only a little. It makes him sound like a delusional whiner. Don't lobby for respect, just play your game and earn it.

dude, they tried to compare him to Trent Dilfer. He responded. Then he pretty much told the media, in a joking manner, that they aren't happy with him regardless of what he does. I don't see that as being a whiner.

Yeah, as normal, its been blown out of proportion. What's he supposed to say? "Yes, I am as much a game manager as Trent Dilfer and I am asked to do very little."

earn it ? Joe Flacco already has earned it...he has earned some respect yet he doesnt get any

where was Baltimore for all those years? do I need to start naming our QBs through 2001? lol

Flacco played well in the playoffs last year but turnovers in the 2nd half and some dropped balls, one for a TD and a first down to keep a drive going cost us the game...but no one brings that up

People like to read his post season stats, u mean when he was a rookie and he took us to the AFC Championship game? Or his 2nd year when he played on 1 good leg ? and like i said last year he was pretty damn good in KC and did enough for us to win against the Steelers

I'm a big Joe fan. I love the guy. And I understand he was only answering the questions that were asked. But he did come off bad to the national media. He was joking around but still.

Just by his answers it sounds like he does let the criticism get to him at times. Joe just needs to shed off those questions, let himself be the only critic that matters. Get out on the field and make plays.

You can't change other people's attitudes, only your own. (Sometimes no matter how hard you try). When you fight the tide, your only going to get more flack.

I wish this talk about Flacco and being an Elite QB would just end and everyone would just let him play... he's NOT elite, but there's nothing wrong with that.

I think the word 'elite' is the word I hated the most in 2011. I don't know why its only black and white. Exactly what you said. So what if he isn't elite? He helps us win, he makes plays. He still has time to improve. There is NOTHING wrong with that.

I would say that Joe needs to stop worrying about what his critics say and just shut them up through his play on the field. If he goes 22/30 for 280 yards and 2 TDs in a win on Sunday, they will have nothing to criticize him about!

Yes, but they still will lol

And I think that is the only point he was trying to make, in a joking manner. No matter what he does, it will be wrong.

I think it has more to do with our personnel and the offensive system than anything, Drew Brees in San Diego was never considered ELITE, it took him a good 4 or 5 years to get to the level he's at now. Eli Manning was never considered ELITE and him and Joe put up very similar numbers, Joe throws less INTs though....

Joe is in year 4, in a system where he's not asked to pass for all those yards like Brees or Rodgers, he was right on point those teams dont have good running games...well New Orleans has been better this year...

i love joe flacco!!!

it´s time to jumbo on the bandwagon. it´s never too late!!! he will show what he can do (for those who aren´t blind and haven´t seen what he is able to do yet) on sunday.

we don´t need anybody to like us. we have no poster boy like sanchez and no hyped guy like matt ryan. we have a qb that just wins games. i love him a lot for doing so!!!

at a certain point I'm sure he wants the press to shut up. Some people are idiots, and after a while you just want them to understand football.

I hate the word elite. There are 4 elite quarterbacks in this league - Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and Peyton when healthy. All have won Superbowls and carry their teams. Eli is on the cusp, as is Roethlisberger (I'd call them 5a and 5b). I would have had Rivers up there, but this season has been disturbing - it's pretty clear that he needs his receivers to succeed, while the others seem to be just fine no matter who they're throwing to. There are, in my opinion, NO other elite quarterbacks in the game. The only guy who calls Flacco elite is Clayton, and that's because "elite" to him is top 15 or something like that. Joe is somewhere between 6-10 IMO: Not sure where I'd put him yet, I'll have to see how he performs this postseason and next season as I've said before, but even if you don't consider him top 10 but top 15, that still makes him one of the 15 best in the world at what he does. And he absolutely can lead the Ravens to a title, which is all that matters to me. Worse quarterbacks have done it. Heck, Eli in 07, IMO, was worse than Joe is now - both maddeningly inconsistent, but Joe has had quite a few brilliant moments this season. If he can string together three brilliant performances (or even just one solid and then two brilliant ones) in a row, we easily could win it all.

I hope he takes that attitude in the game (less runs for Ray Rice). ;) The reason why he get's "crucified" for throwing so much is because the in game where he throws alot they lose. In those same game Ray Rice usually has 10 or less carries. Ray Rice is definitely your best offensive players.

Ray Rice doesn't have to run to get touches. That's the beauty of it. :)

Not really. He threw 40+ times in four games this year, and won 3 of them.
