Yea I don't see that at all either
Granted if they weren't so inefficient in the RZ, 35 could've happened last time (2 TDs and 5, FIVE FGs. Just converting one of those FGs to TDs would've given us 33), but I just don't see it. And their defense is better now, or at least it looked better last week.

Yeah I think their Defense is a little better, but they were also at home last week and that's a huge advantage as we all know. I dont see us scoring 35 points, but 27-31 is a reasonable expectation IMO.

Houston reminds me of San Francisco coming in to the Bank on Thanksgiving. They had just had 2 big victories over the Giants and the Cardinals, and people were riding high proclaiming "Alex Smith is better than Joe Flacco". I just have that feeling.

Yea, the Ravens defense is really good, third in the AFC. That is pretty stout. Oh wait, the Texans are second in the AFC.
Don't put too much stock in that. Especially when the Ravens were only giving up 3 more yards than the Texans per game and, overall, the Ravens allowed less yards per play than the Texans. The Texans have a good defense and so do the Ravens. The Ravens' is better, though.

I don't think them having a letdown is totally out of the question. I expect our guys to be focused.

And fewer points. I think our D alone is 3rd behind the Steelers and 9ers in that category. We had 5 return TDs against us I believe.

No way the Ravens score as much as 35.
I don't see it either but we did score 29 last time with 5 FGs. Since then our TEs have really improved our redzone efficency. If we just turn one of those FGs into TDs we are right into the 30s. Not saying its going to happen. But its not impossible.

What about the more important defensive stat? Points against? Who is better there? :D

I like how the Texans fans feel their defense is head and shoulders better than our defense based on the fact they are 2nd in total yards and we are 3rd. That margin? A mere 3.2 yards/gm. That is 51.2 Total yards over the entire season. Impressive no doubt.

But that is only one stat. Not a very comprehensive stat. As we are still better in Points allowed (what actual wins and loses games), We are 2nd best in stopping third down conversions (you know the down that can continue drives) to their 14th. And we are better in sacks (which is even better when at home).

Agree. The Texans have also had a much easier road in terms of offenses played. NOT saying they don't have an excellent defense--I think they do. However, they have played one elite-caliber offense in New Orleans and they got torched. They played one emerging offense in Carolina and also got torched. I don't think the difference in stats and rankings are different enough to say the Texans performed better on D than the Ravens... and the only two active Texan defenders I would take over any of the Ravens' starters would be Cushing over McClain and Connor Barwin over JJ (and even that is a bit of a stretch).

EDIT: Not to mention the fact that we went head-to-head once already and I think it was pretty clear who was the better D ;) And yes, if you're using regular season stats to indicate you're somehow better, than bringing up the regular season encounter is totally kosher.

Oh that's huge. I want to see Pitta on third down every time.

No doubt. We have proved quite significantly that we are better at getting our defense off the field on third down than they have. This isn't a stat which is 'too close to call'. It should carry well into this game as well. We'll force plenty of 3rd and longs for Yates. And we are good at getting off the field in general, but even more so against a rookie QB.

Yes. THAT'S what I think will ultimately tip the game in our favor. No deep bombs or getting off to a 31-point lead... us being able to prolong a few drives and kick some FGs, and them being unable to keep up with that.

I'm going:

Ravens 24
Texans 13

and alot of their points come in the 4th in mop up duty imho...this game won't even be close.....Ravens Defense and Home field advantage is too much for TJ Yates and their offense to over come

I am big into superstitions, so carry on! I haven't washed my 2000 Ravens Super Bowl T-shirt that I've worn under all my clothes this entire week.

the Ravens need to come out with flawless execution and intensity on both sides of the ball from the begin to the end of the game. put the texans away quick, fast and in a hurry! the texans are in our way....put'em down Ravens!!

Okay Steelers. Make sense then. You must really be hating the Broncos. There is a Steelers fan where I work and he said he is now rooting for the AFC north division to win it all. You could go that way.

Come on over to the dark side. We would be happy to have you.
Well, for this week I'm going to have to join the dark side. There is now way I can root for N.E. But you guys better play a whole lot better than you did against Houston.

I have to agree with that. We better play like we mean it, or we are in big trouble.

He's right though. We need to execute better on all levels. Please lord, let it happen. My ex business partner is a Boston guy and their arrogance knows no bounds. Pummel them!! This [profanity deleted] owes me a ton of money!!!
