Our Secondary Is Hurting Once Again!

14 posts in this topic

I guess we just can not get a break on injuries in our secondary once again. S. Rolle out, F. Washington out, D. Landry out and Ed Reed is not 100%. Now we are going to have to depend on Frank Walker or C.Ivy. Now is it me or does F. Walker always seem to be committing some type of foul during game play holding, pass interferance or just running his mouth. What happened to D. Martin? Where is he? We need a good game from our secondary this week vs Indy!

yah i agree if this is the case then we might not be so dominant in this game...

i also think that missing rolle and landry in our last couple of games was a huge missing part to our defence...everytime i see a WR wide open in our secondary more than once or twice it makes me so angry that we are having important injuries already...

He's only got in on some special team plays.
He was inactive last week(shoulder)

Ive been really impressed by Martin this year and I wonder why he isnt getting more snaps considering Rolle and Washington are out, and after a really bad start Frank Walker is playing a bit better. We just need our number two corner to be on point.

The thing that worries me is our safeties, Reed is having trouble tackling with his shoulder and Leonhard (as good of a ball player he is) is smaller than Rolle. Why not Zbikowski or Nakamura?

Unfortunately Frank Walker isn't "bad" he just makes a lot of stupid fouls. I get the impression that Martin has not been in because he still isn't 100% or he's not as good as Walker w/ the fouls.

I guess they still have to develop and get that nose for the football. I mean look at Bob sanders. He isnt exactly tall but he plays at a high level. I think that Zbikowski and Nakamura will get their chance eventually or swap time with Leonhard. They are all starter-quality players.

I think he was refering to Leonhard being diminutive in weight. Bob Sanders, though short, weighs more than 200 pounds (208 I think, can't really be bothered to check). And he has great acceleration meaning he can deliver big hits and bring down almost anybody. Leonhard is like 175 and doesn't have Sanders' acceleration. He's a decent tackler technically, but bigger backs are going to truck him like there's nothing there.

no colts running back weighs more than 214 lbs...so they dont have any big backs anyway
but small backs can still be hard to tackle

weight really doesnt matter much
ask antoine winfield and cedric griffin if they have trouble hitting big backs

true...cause dawan landry wouldnt have allowed that mewelde moore catch to set up the field goal
and he wouldnt have allowed those catches to scaife and crumpler vs the titans on their game winning drive

I wasn't specifically talking about the colts game. We play Ronnie Brown after Indy, and He's a pretty big back.
