Players Who Must Step Up

49 posts in this topic

The post season is where heroes and legends are made. The place where you build your legacy. Which players do you think have to step up to make sure the Ravens acheive their goals? Mine:

Lee Evans: No question he has been a dissapointment this year but this guy is still a proven veteran WR. He's never been here before and he's going to want to contribute so he has to bring his A game and make opponents respect the pass game.

Haloti Ngata: The Big man is doing his job in the trenches but I'm waiting for a BIG impact play that he was causing before his injury. Hopefully the week off gives him a chance to recover.

Anquan Boldin: This guy has been to a SB so he knows what it takes to get there. He has to be a leader and take charge and be the #1 WR who dominates. Now that his knee is healed I hope he brings that explosivness and gets us on the run.

Ray Lewis/Ed Reed: With all this recent criticism of there play, I expect these guys to go all out. We are about to go up against some of the best QBs in the game and you need these two HOFers for their instincts and play making ability. Defense wins championships and having two of the best ever at their position even at their age is excellent to have.

Joe Flacco: For all the accolades and records Joe has racked up in his early carreer it just isn't enough to silence critics until he wins a SB already. Is it fair? No, but Joe understands that and he's been here 3 years in a row. He's battle tested and has tons of experience and now can prove he is the QB that can become a champion. (Plus with a new contract coming up he's going to want to play lights out so he can make a ton of money!)

Who do you believe must have a big impact in the post season and step up their game?

No doubt the team must rise up. But playmakers can put you over the edge and the Ravens have a lot of em (credit to Ozzie for building a well rounded team). Come on Pu, I know there is at least one guy you think will have a big post season!

Correction the whole Ravens Nation must step up....

Our fans need to switch the highest gear of noise which is so loud that the opposing team's eardrum about to blow up....

I think our t.v is going to blow up soon with all the top of the lung screaming in the room.

Well I haven't smallowed my pride. I believe Ed Reed steps up. Takes advantage of a rookie QB. Has a huge game.

I'd say Ed Dickson too. I think he's been great but he can be better. No more drops. Pitta has great hands, but is better in short yardage situations. If Dickson can catch the ball more frequently, our offense would be even more impressive.

Lee Evans is an obvious one, but I think he missed his opportunity.

Chris Carr. How he manages to get on the field blows my mind. Top 4 corners should be webb, cary, jimmy, danny

cundiff, hes had a down year compared to last.
That's an important name as well. He could be needed to make a clutch kick so hopefully the bye gave his some rest.

Having this bye is great to heal up players so they can perform at a top notch level. I think it will make a huge difference compared to the last 3 postseasons.

I'm a big believer that ALL PLAYERS must indeed step up. However, for me the entire O-Line must bring their A game. This means no dumb penalties, handling their man, picking up blitzes, etc. I think, especially for HOU, if the O-Line and Vonta Leach can do the work they've been doing these past few weeks, we can win.

I'm not too worried about our D-line and secondary at home. The crowd noise will cause hell for Yates. Again, this game will be won or lost deepening on the play of the O-Line and how well our wideouts can execute.

I hope Cundiff isn't the guy that MUST step up. That's bad news then. We need touchdowns not FGs.

Add Billy Cundiff and Ed Dickson to your list, and I agree with everything.

As long as we tackle on defense and don't allow anything deep we should win this game, young TJ Yates likes to take chances and he can be had for some INTs...we need to focus on shutting down their run game..we do that and this should be a win

The perfect scenario is the offense comes out firing and takes the early lead then our defense just has to stop the pass...I think we can get multiple turnovers, also when tackling Foster try to punch the ball out because he has issues holding onto the ball

The offensive line- that will determine how the game goes. Give joe time to throw and plow the way for rice is a must

I hope Ray has a throw back 3 games for us. Just talking all kinds of crap, fist pumping, laying out HBs in the backfield or at the LOS, blitzing like a maniac, getting everyone's intensity level raised for real, and talking all kinds of crap. Say what you will, but Ray is at his best when he's seething mad and letting everyone know he is.

this is true, i think running the ball against the Texans will be tough...being at home will help out OL and the Texans pass rush wont be as fierce without all the crowd noise as we have seen with our team, being at home makes a difference and the Texans enjoyed that against the Bengals...and the Bengals turned the ball over 3 times, if they dont do that its a whole different ball game

McPhee and Kruger.

While I think Suggs will make plays, he's probably going to get a lot of attention from that O-Line and backs.

I have to say it is Cam Cameron who has to step up. With Boldin returning from his knee surgery, I fear Cameron will try too hard to get him into the game early. I believe we have to run and run consistently. Not to say that we don't take our shots downfield, but ball control and chain moving game plan. With decent pass protection and run blocking both Ray and Joe can have a big day. Our possession receivers, Boldin/Pita/Dickson and our deep threat in Smith/Evans/Dickson/Boldin will give the Texans fits trying to figure out who to defend. We control the run game on defense and put the game on the rookies shoulder and Suggs/McPhee/Kruger/Redding/Ngata should have a field day!

Go RAVENS

McKinney and Oher.

We already know what we'll get from our guards and center, but our tackles must step up against an excellent Houston pass-rush.

I want to see Joe step up and really lead us this game and hopefully further. I know he has a lot of playoff victories already in his career but he as an individual doesn't get much credit for them. I want to see him changing opinions about him that he can and does lead our team through the postseason.

I agree. If Rice can get the carries and the rushing yardage, we will win. ...That does depend on the play of the OL. It would not hurt if Flacco can make the Texans pay when they load up defensively to stop our running attack.

Lets stop Arian Foster and Ben Tate, to me that is what worries me. No one runs on our defense. If we can force Yates to throw I believe that the secondary will then step up and force turnovers. All D needs to step up to not allow points to be scored. Make the offense tired for once.
