Hello. I didn't see a topic made on this yet, if there is please don't hurt me D:

I was just wondering if anybody plays? I've just recently started playing, roughly 2 weeks time.
I'm only lvl 11 right now slowly itching my way to 30. My current fave champs are Wukong, Garen and Trydamere. I love attack

If anybody wants to add me you can. Looking to see if I can find some people to play with, I have some friends that play but being military, don't always have the convenience due to time difference/constraints.
Hopefully we can get a small community going.

I was contemplating getting this game. I am generally pretty good at standard RTS's however I understand this plays much differently. From what I have heard would it be fair to say:

1) It takes around 100 games before you truly understand what to do.

2) You need friends to play with you or else you are doomed.

3) The average game time is 40 minutes.

Yes on all 3 questions.. Maybe not quite 100 games.. Matters how quickly u learn all the champs and each of their abilities.. It gets really detailed

But u are definitely right about #2.. Been playing "ranked" games by myself with random players..last 6 games in a row I've been screwed by retards..

Still a pretty fun game for being free
It's not free, you have to pay for the heroes worth playing.

You don't have to pay with real money, if you save up enough IP, it's free. their skins you have to pay with money

League of Legends is for children, play Dota 2 instead.

Haha u sound exactly like a friend of mine.. He rages on LoL and swears by dota

Dota is too complicated for me.. I don't have the time to spend on it.. I just want something to kill some time every now and then

LoL is Dota for n00bs. They're essentially the same game. Or at least that's what my roommate says, he's really into it and watches tournaments and whatnot. I just play casually.

Yea same thing my friend says.. I just don't have the patience to "learn" another game..

I play a couple games every few weeks now and just stick with my handful of champs..

I've been casually playing LoL and Dota 2 for the past year and a half or so. I have a few friends that play competitively, and if I had the spare time I would do the same thing. LoL is on a free to play format and if you get into it you can choose to spend pretty much whatever you'd want. I spent $10 and got to buy a few champions and a few skins that were on sale. But again being free to play is virtually no commitment to try it out besides the time it takes to download, update and the space it takes up on your hard drive.

I play under the handle Kedvarius and I am pretty liberal in what champions\role I play and really don't mind playing bots or pvp. If I had to pick a favorite so far it would be Zilean, because I like to move around a lot while following other players. I mostly get on everyday around midnight to take advantage of the "First win of the day" bonus when it becomes available.

If I had to compare LoL and Dota 2 I would say its not really fair to compare them yet. Dota 2 is still in beta and you pretty much have to be invited to play for free. If anyone is interested I have a few invites though if you wanted to try it. Dota 2 is a very good game as well, the graphics are a little sharper and there are a lot more champions readily available. However, out of the 2 games Dota 2 has a much sharper learning curve and the discrepency between the upper tier elite player and the new players is a gaping wide chasm. The elite players are super elite and don't have patience for new players either. LoL has a far better community with an honor system that is truly one of a kind and is a lot more forgiving to newbie players.

If you are wondering why I didn't use Dudeman well that was taken, and I really thought I was making a login name and not a game handle either or I would've picked Dudemanimus or some variation.

I wanted to piggy back what you were saying a little bit.

1.) This depends on your gamer experience, and difficulty setting used. LoL is based on DOTA (defense of the ancients), a use map settings game from Warcraft 3. If you have played Warcraft then this game is basically a spin off, and you would learn the basics on your 4-5th match-up. If you haven't played any kind of RTS then it might take closer to 40-50 matches to really gain mastery and to have enough experience to be competitive in tournaments and pvp matches.

2.) You can't really pvp effectively til lvl 20 (out of 30), and you'll certainly figure the game out and make some friends playing against easy bots by then. But yes, having friends that can carry you and help you is the ideal way to play.

3.) The average game on easy is about 25 mins, and on moderate or pvp upwards to 45. It's very rare a match takes an hour in LoL, but in Dota 2 I have been in rounds up to 3 hours.

I haven't tried this, but I have tried HoN (Heroes of Newerth) and the learning curve on that is insane. I feel like its impossible to play any of these games without friends given the team strategy aspect. I cant really play even competently and just try not to screw it up for my teammates but they do have to carry me. I think the problem with it is that there is no good way to learn the game and nuances of the game. How is LoL learning curve? Do they address this problem in anyway?

I suck at that game.

LvL 30 and Gold Rank, Ranked Team Plays, Sponsored tournament, almost every champs, but my skills got capped, so I quit.

I found out I'm not good enough to get past Gold to Platinum. Confidence is everything, but once you lose that, it goes downhill fast.
