It Is Finally Here - New Video - We Are Ravens

30 posts in this topic

Hey everyone, I created a short film chronicling the 2012 season leading up to the playoffs. I'll let it speak for itself. To the Ravens media team if you would like to do something with this, you have my permission I only ask that you let me know and credit me (itscbm5042 AKA Brett Messick). Without further ado...

The beauty of this video is it was created in 4 hours. So as the playoffs progress, I will add plays, players, and quotes. The next installment will be released after the Ravens vs Texans game.

The rap part in the middle...no good dude. Just seems weird alongside the obvious inspirational music. I don't care if it's Sizzle or not. Otherwise, great vid.

Good video. The audio clip of BSH sounded out of place. More hits would've been better to, maybe a couple of the Leach pancakes.

Also, I was kind of waiting for buildings to start exploding and Leonardo Dicaprio to walk out and start shooting Steelers...kind of give them the "kick".

The video is nice, but I would cool it on the bold statements.

Obviously I'm biased, but Death on Wings is one of the best montages I've ever seen, sports or otherwise. The music, clips, vintage swag and just hard-hitting nature of the content make the nine minutes or whatever blow by. I used to watch that video before every game, and it never failed to deliver; I was AMPED every time.

As some honest advice, I'd cut down on the screen-consuming announcements in your video. I don't need huge cliches flashed in front of me every ten seconds; it interrupts the flow of what I came to see - Ravens highlights.

Also, I appreciate the effort to include our best overall plays of the season, but fade routes to Pitta or good to pretty good catches by Torrey Smith don't inspire awe like bone crushing hits. We're Ravens fans, and defense is what we love.

I hate to be so negative, but humility will likely get you further in your productions. Maybe my comments come on the heels of having just watched various highlight clips for the past two hours, but regardless, you need some kind of a signature to stand out - dig around for unique camera angles, lesser-known hits, conversations on the sideline, etc.

Decent vid, direction is a little weak if you could tie it all in together with more editing it could be great. I don't mean to bash... but its no "Death on Wings"

Well lets talk about what Death on Wings is. Its a montage of low res, albeit exciting defensive highlights. That is not what this video is about. This is a visualization of the reasons why the Ravens are where they are, and that is primed for a deep playoff run. The defense is not the only reason the Ravens are where they are, finally its the youth and the speed combined with the typical toughness and experience that we have come to expect from our team. And let's be honest, this is not the Death on Wings team(s). This year is not about Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, its about the team as a whole - offense and defense. Our new additions, and the leadership moreso than the play of the defensive stalwarts. The production value is obviously much higher than DoW.

There will be a second installment coming. This one will focus solely on the playoffs and our run.

The production is clearly better, but the substance is not. I think you went about it wrong, claiming superiority. I still enjoyed it, you just didnt even need to mention DoW. that's my point. Your clips on each play run too long.

I liked it, I like the music choice. It kind of reminds me of the 2008 playoff run videos the website was making (I think it was that run). The video had a purpose and a point to being this years team and what that consisted of. Death on Wings is point blank a hype video of dudes just getting laid out or intercepted, while it is the best hype video I've ever seen this video was for a specific purpose on a single season.

Well done.
