The Biggest Difference Between Matt Ryan And Joe Flacco

I thing that Ryan has a lot of offensive weapons and his offensive line (even though reported to be dirty sob's) protect him well. I think they continually lose in the playoffs because they do not have a defense anywhere as good as ours.
All of those weapons and that line aren't helping him today. And I doubt even the 2000 Ravens defense would help when the [s]offense[/s] defensive scoring only puts up 2 points (although we did tie the NFL shutout record that year).

Ok, I lied about Eli

Heck of a game by that man. That last throw to Manningham was impressive.

Yea. When the offense can't even score a single point, there is nothing any defense on the planet can do. How sad is it when your defense has scored more points than your offense through 50+ minutes of the game? And now Atlanta is completely unraveling and Ryan is bailing out on his throws.

Too bad Ryan can't even score any points in the first half of a playoff game
And so far in the second. The Falcons look like refried poop.

I still don't understand the obsession to compare the two. They are two young good QBs. Different QBs with different paths. I have all the respect for Ryan and Flacco and I hope they both succeed.

Some of you guys just need to justify ego.

Yeah, I agree. Its kind of annoying to hear the media constantly criticize Joe and praise Ryan, but I don't get any satisfaction from seeing Ryan fail.

Its simple Joe has won playoff games every year since he has been in the league. Ryan has no. That is the difference. I will take Joe any day.

Maybe I am just good at not caring what the media thinks. They are entitled to their opinions. So if they are biased towards Matty, I'm cool with that. I don't need the media to justify how I feel about Joe.

I agree ... I have no ill will toward Ryan. I am just sick and tired of hearing about how he's on the path to Eliteness and, with that, the immediate comparison to Flacco as being somehow deficient compared to him. And yet, with less, Flacco has done far more .. and not standing in a dome.

It's the same way I feel about Tebow. I have absolutely no ill will towards that man, but I am sick to death of hearing about him. Until Ryan shows he can do anything but unravel in the playoffs, I don't really want to hear his name mentioned with Joe's.

Matt Ryan came up small, the entire Falcons offense came up small today

There are some Falcons fans on nfl.com saying they are done with Matt Ryan haha, lets see if the media will put some heat on Matt for not being able to win a playoff game....hmmm, I know they sure love to get on Flacco because he doesnt put up big stats...well he wins and wins A LOT...

I don't think we will see Flacco's "potential " as a signal caller, until Cam Cameron is gone..... I would like for Flacco to be mic'ed up all game to here the kind of nonsense he has to listen to from Cam ( because there are times when u can see the frustration in Flacco's face when he has to waste a timeout because of late play calls ). What could this offense be if Cam coulda been gone and either Hue Jackson, Jim Zorn, Al Saunders had taken over as OC......

It was also total nonsense how Cameron kept talking about Flacco calls his own plays and audibles all the time, he has the freedom to do so. If Flacco does audible I guess it doesn't matter since Cam doesn't call create plays to begin with.... I wish some team would offer him another HC shot ..

Oh ... I thought you were going to say: 4-3 vs 0-2

My bad.

4-3 vs 0-3

I think the biggest difference between the two is how Joe can slice the wind with his tight spiral, and Ryan sucks outdoors. The Falcons can't play outdoors.

Joe Flacco is definitely not in an offense that is QB friendly and as long as we play good defense in Baltimore he will never put up those huge numbers like QBs in Green Bay or New Orleans, etc

In this offense its about controlling the clock, run the ball, limit turnovers, play defense...thats been our motto forever, these other teams have focused so much on offense and scoring points that they barely play defense....they HAVE to score to win, our team can make some stops

They love to talk about numbers but when Ben did it with no real competition in the division he was a winner. Flacco does it and its the defense and run game. Ryan has as many playoff losses sans wins and the ARM strength. I hate the over rated falcons. Also as someone pointed out Joe got us back in the game last year just for the d and a push off to lose it.

The biggest difference? Flacco can throw it into the end zone from 50 or 60 yards out, easily. Still, I wonder how we'd do against the Giants when they're playing like this.

Biggest Difference: Joe can actually win Road Playoff games. After next week, Joe will be 1-0 at home in the playoffs while Matty Ice will have no playoff wins either on the Road or at Home.

Interesting ... talking bobble head on Fox just said, 'We will have to talk about his oh-and-three record in the playoffs after this.'

And it ends with a sack and 0 points ... man, that sucks for the kid. Giants D never let up .. they wanted that shutout bad.

2 points? 2??? 0 from the offense? At least Joe put up 3 in that horrible game against the Colts, and he was hurt and had no receivers.

And that was his second year. This is Ryan's 4th year.

The only issue I ever had with Ryan Flacco comparisons. Is that many analysts never point out how Matt Ryan struggles if the run game doesnt get started early... The falcons are a run first team and when they don't run first they lose.... When Ravens have a Seattle type game where we don't develop the run game and lose its all because of Flacco lol.
John Clayton may be the only analysts that considers both of them to be "elite QBs" while everyone else seems to rank Ryan right below the top tier ( Rodgers , Brees, Brady ).

There are quite a few differences between the two QBs. I think the biggest difference for me is that Joe Flacco is the quarterback we need him to be, not necessarily the one we want him to be. Flacco often does what is necessary to win. That's what I like about Flacco. That's what makes him great in my mind.

I hope #5 stays with us. I hope the criticism doesn't drive him out of here. Seeing Ryan's failure makes me appreciate him more.

Like I said earlier, I have stood by my statement earlier involving Joe. He may have a few games, and may not be the most vocal, He wins games and doesn't get shaken. That is all that matters to me. I'd take a super bowl victory any day over an individual award. Joe will get the recognition this February when he is hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. I just want to see the day when the offense actually belongs to Joe.

Falcons have a WAY better OC. That should be history, though--he's interviewing with Miami after the playoffs are done. I think that helps Matt Ryan a lot. He definitely has good intangibles and I do think Ryan is a good QB. Maybe he'll wind up with Cam next year and be back down to earth.

There's too much ---- measuring with QBs these days thanks to ESPN and NFLN 24 hour coverage... ALWAYS needing something to talk about. I think they're both good and I would take either over Eli, honestly.

I'm sick of hearing about Matt Ryan whenever I watch a football game. Obviously they're going to talk about him if he is playing, and he is a pretty good quarterback, but they constantly kiss his behind and it's so obnoxious. When the Ravens and the Falcons played last year, I seem to remember the analysts saying "Oooooh Matt Ryan is so good, I just want to make a mix-tape of his plays and watch it all night" but when Joe Flacco led a fourth quarter comeback, they said nothing. In today's game vs the Giants, one of the analysts said, "Matt Ryan is 0-2 in the playoffs, but plenty of elite quarterbacks started out 0-2", which really irks me because even though Joe Flacco is 4-3 in the playoffs they just say "Oh, he has a defence, oh he has a running game, oh he gets lucky, oh his unibrow is too big" or whatever excuse they use. It's time to admit that Flacco is, up to this point, a more successful quarterback then 'Matty Ice'.

He played well today but I still don't think he's better than Joe. I've watched that guy blow more games than Joe has even played.
