Falcons Vs Giants Game Thread

192 posts in this topic

I'll start this thread for the game. It's 1:00 pm today, and it'll be a great NFC matchup. Here is a little backstory written on NFL.com Game Center for the game: The New York Giants are starting to see similarities between this season and their 2007 run to the Super Bowl. The Atlanta Falconsare hoping there will be a difference this time from the last two postseasons with Matt Ryan and Mike Smith. These teams have never met in the playoffs, and that will change Sunday in the first postseason game at MetLife Stadium. New York got off to a 6-2 start before a four-game losing streak brought back memories of collapses in recent seasons. The Giants, though, went 3-1 over their final four games and won the NFC East by beating Dallas 31-14 at home last Sunday night. Any predictions?

No predictions but I'm still of a mind that Matty Ice should not have a playoff win until Joe wins the SB. :)

The Giants couldn't be any team that wasn't melting down in the second half of the season and the Falcons aren't melting down right now. (That 3-1 record over the last 4 games for the Giants include two wins against the Cowboys and one against the Jets, both of whom played absolutely terrible the last quarter of the season. Take it back to the 2nd half of the season and the Giants are 3-5.)

Falcons 35, Giants 17.

The Giants are like us, they can be amazing or terrible on any given day.

I'll take them, though, because I don't trust a dome team like Atlanta in the frigid New Jersey weather.

In any case, the winner today has the privilege of losing to Green Bay next week.

Well not so fast there. The Giants played them tough. I figure they could take them especially since GB seems to have developed this "we're the bomb" attitude like it's already a given they are going to the SB.

how are they like us? we have one of the best running games in the league, the giants have no running game. the giants rely on their qb as much as any team in the league. we played some of the best defenses on a regular basis, they played some of the best offenses. these teams are hardly similar

Might turn into a shoot out since both teams have some real offensive fire power..

I'll say Atlanta by 4.

I'm not talking about the style of play, I'm talking about the fact that both teams are extremely inconsistent.

I think Atlanta vs, GB is a definite loss. However, I agree that NYG can hang with them. But I'd take GB over both.

Anyway, apparently it's 45 degrees at MetLife today. Not too cold, which is good for ATL.

I think Giants win this and we get a rematch of Giants-Packers.

Matty Ice falls to a 0-3 Playoff Record!

I think it's so dumb to care about this. He's not even in our conference, why root against a guy who hasn't given you any reason to dislike him?

Between the Falcons or Giants, who has the best chance to win today and then go on and upset the Packers?
well by this reasoning that he's not even in our conference him and Joe shouldn't be compared.

I don't like him because every says he's great. He's awful away from home. Everybody thinks he's so much better than Joe yet there almost identical stats and he has far more weapons of the four year period.

I want the Giants to win because I think they can give it to the Packers. The Falcons would get destroyed for basically the third time in a row.

I'm taking the Giants - they have the better pass rush and Quarterback.

The Falcons are overrated and have to play out-doors.

Good job by the Falcons defense to get a 3 and out. Time to see what Matt Ryan can do.

Well that was quick another 3 & out by the Giants defense.

No score yet. The Giants certainly made it a game against Green Bay. However, now that we are in the second season, almost anything can happen. I am looking forward to seeing another good wild card game. Lots of crowd noise at MetLife.

Both defenses definitely came to play.
After last night's shootout between Saints and Lions, it's refreshing to see a good defensive low scoring game.

Falcons moving now. I think they go for it on 4th down.
I think they would, but they shouldn't have. When it's been scoreless this long, take the 3.

Shouldn't blame that on him though. He's just a guy trying to do his best, just like Joe. If he doesn't win today he'll get enough criticism, he doesn't need us piling on just for spite. That's my opinion anyway.

Falcons should have went for a Field Goal. This is a playoff game where all points matter, and especially in this defensive battle.

Wow...... Eli Manning gets a intentional grounding penalty in the end zone and the Falcons get a safety for the first points of the game. Folks, we have a Baseball game.

Falcons 2
Giants 0
