Steelers Vs Broncos Game Thread

1,080 posts in this topic

Ya know...a friend of mine posted this gem to FB last night (self-censoring his crude language cause I know darn well he was heavily drunk last night)

"At least we're spared hearing that stairway to seven crap for one year."

:D Golden....now lets go beat on the Texans!

Well, just remember that you haven't won anything yet. And you still have to face the Patriots (almost guaranteed) at their home if we assume you beat the Texans. If you had been smart, you would have rooted for the Steelers to win, then go beat up the Patriots before facing them.
Perhaps Denver can beat the Patriots up for us. After all, Pittsburgh didn't look especially punishing. I suppose they held McGahee to only 60 yards, but they certainly didn't enforce their will on Tebow or his receivers. If fact, the biggest hit downfield today was that one what the Broncos laid on David Johnson, which was just perfect.

lol! didn't you just say earlier that the steelers won homeboy? lol!

No I didn't. You said that Denver was going to make up for McGahee's fumble and Champ's dropped picked and score on that drive.

I said yeah OK, b/c they went 3 and out and didn't score in regulation.

Nonetheless, I'm still giddy as a school girl at the outcome.

Shameful!

Video evidence of Refs pulling for Steelers. Play video (link below) and forward 9:10 sec and you will see what I have been saying for years. This ref wants to spike the ball for Jerico!
Look how happy this Ref is on Jerico's Touchdown in the 4th qtr its not enough to signal the TD watch his head go up and down like crazy.

Tim Tebow Facemasked twice in the game and no call, obvious holding by Gilbert ALL GAME LONG no calls, backwards pass and the list goes on and on..... I want a detailed report on all Refs and who they are fans of. The beautity of it is, Broncos still won dispite Refs doing all they could for their favorite team.

LOL that was pretty funny. The thing I was most incensed about was the fumble that was ruled an incomplete pass and couldn't be challenged although the Broncos clearly came up with it. Then Pittsburgh drove the field for a TD.

Almost Guaranteed? You mean like it was guaranteed the Steelers would beat the Broncos... how did that work?

Wonder if Dave Damashek will blame the refs

Nah he'll probably just put Flacco on the shame report for shopping with his wife during the bye week.

I like the OT rules, I think they're great. Stop them from scoring a TD and you get the ball back. If you force a punt you get to win with a FG, the Steelers underestimated Tebow's throwing ability all game and that's why they lost. Satisfying.
I concur. I like the fact that playoff OT games can no longer be won with a decent kick return, a few medium range completions and a long FG. With the evolution of the kicking game over the years, this rule change makes sense.

One or two posters? On the Steelers' boards? The rest are reasonable folk, I bet. That's what you're saying? You've been drinking heavily ... only explanation. You have a handful of fans who have perspective. The rest are looking for an accelerant to pour on your team.

I have never once trolled on another team's board. I don't understand the point of it, myself. Yes. I hate your team. I hate your fans. I hate your city. In fact, the only reason I haven't started a petition to have that city expelled from the union is that it gave us Frank Gorshin, Henry Mancini, Kenny Clarke, Nancy Wilson and a handful of others (well done on that by way). Otherwise, I was thinking a straight up trade with Canada for some of that cool bacon with the bone in it for the whole place.

What was I talking about? Oh yea, I hate them but I'm not going to go out of my way to rub your noses in anything.
Well clearly you take football too seriously. If we were at war and fighting side by side, would you throw me in front of a tank because Im a Steeler fan? That's the mode of thinking that leads to the Brian Stowe type incidents. Clearly you need to get out more often and realize there's more to life than football. As much as I dislike the Ravens and other rival teams, I'd never use the term 'hate'. My livelihood doesn't get impacted if the Steelers win or lose. It's just a nice distraction from everyday life, like a movie.

That was the talking heads. The Media loves to play up the "Tebow sucks" angle. It's good press. I'm certain the Steelers didn't take the game lightly. How could they when they struggled to get past the Browns the previous week? I personally was nervous about this game because Tebow is a wild card and unorthadox. We always have trouble with those QBs. I think Mike Vick had his best game ever against us.

Man this loss is starting to look even more worse, Casey Hampton and Max Starks both have ACL injuries and will need surgery. Brett Keisel a groin injury that may require surgery and Pouncey may get work done on his ankle.

Unbelievable. I hope all goes well for them but man this is a huge blow to the Steelers.

You could be right ... probably not, but you could be. Or maybe it's that there are many levels of hatred and not some Mickey Mouse, black and white, cartoon definition of the word.

So, let me re-iterate. I ... freaking ... hate ... your team, your city and the vast majority of your fans. There is no circumstance that I can think of where I would ever cheer for the Steelers in a game. That they were Tebowed on national television brings me no end of joy.

But I have perspective which apparently you do not. I would never wish true harm on ANYONE for a game. My heart goes out to Kirby Wilson and his family. We are all humans before we are Ravens or Steelers. And to attempt to accuse another fan of what you are saying here is sad.

Oh boy.... it gets worse. Pouncey decided to take to Twitter and it didn't go well, just click the link since I can't post what he said. Let's just say in summary he promotes a rapper's new CD while fans responded to him about how he can do that and isn't worried about the loss.
I could be mistaken, but are you referring to Eric Decker? If so, Demaryius Thomas has been Denver's best WR since the Minnesota game. He's averaged just under 108 yards per game since then.

Yes, Decker. He's out for the season. Thomas is emerging and is now their top receiver but Decker was generally considered their best receiver over the course of the season.

Exactly. Thomas is their top WR now, so the Steelers did not knock Denver's best wideout. I'd disagree that Eric Decker was considered their top WR throughout the course of the season. Through most of the season? Certainly. However, his production dwindled down the stretch, and the emergence of any other WR who could outproduce him on a consistent basis would've cause him to lose that title. You'd have a better argument if their numbers were at least somewhat comparable, but not only did Thomas outproduce Decker in each of their last 6 contests, he averaged more yards per game that Decker amassed through the entire 6 game stretch. In my opinion, he was their top threat coming into the Steelers game, and will remain so after coming out of it.

I haven't looked at their film, but I would assume defenses swung more attention over to him as he succeeded earlier in the year. Of course with Denver, "top receiver" is relative. Now that Decker is out, defenses can focus more attention on Thomas. So unless you do something stupid like the Steelers did in totally selling out to the run, it will be even easier to shut down their passing game.

I just can't stop watching the 80 yarder to end it! What a crazy ending!

I love the reverse angle shot of Taylor trying to grab hold of Thomas right after getting stiff-armed.

Even though my team lost, it was an entertaining game and had a sky high TV rating. It was compelling football. Sure beats a 30-3 snoozer.
